The next day, Li Xiaolu woke up and found that Ms. Yu Min had sent her another message.
Ms. Yu Min: "Your sister still hasn't replied to your stepfather's message."
Li Xiaolu replied: "Then I'll try calling her."
Ms. Yu Min responded: "Okay."
Li Xiaolu hesitated for a moment before dialing Zhao Shu's phone number. The phone rang a few times before it was answered.
Zhao Shu's voice sounded impatient: "What do you want?"
Li Xiaolu said calmly: "Your father is worried about you. Why haven't you replied to his message?"
Zhao Shu scoffed: "He's worried about me? If he really cared, he wouldn't be with your mom."
Li Xiaolu replied coolly: "That's an adult matter; it has nothing to do with me."
Zhao Shu snorted: "You know it's your mom's fault, so stay out of my business."
Li Xiaolu said flatly: "I'm not interested in your affairs; I'm just conveying your father's words."
Zhao Shu sneered: "Stop pretending to be the good person here. You think I don't know what you're really thinking?"
Li Xiaolu coldly responded: "I don't know what you're thinking, and I don't want to."
Zhao Shu laughed sarcastically: "Don't act innocent in front of me; I hate you."
Li Xiaolu replied indifferently: "Well, that's mutual."
After saying this, she hung up the phone directly. She put down her phone and let out a long sigh.
She really couldn't understand Zhao Shu; why was she always so hostile towards her? They had hardly interacted growing up, so why did she hate her?
She couldn't figure it out.
She didn't want to think about it either.
She had her own things to take care of.
Li Xiaolu never expected to see Jijun in New York. She felt like she was dreaming. She looked at the man in front of her; his face was still so handsome, with deep features and dark eyes. As she gazed at him, a sudden feeling of being in another world washed over her. Unable to help herself, she rubbed her eyes, wanting to confirm that she wasn't dreaming.
Jijun looked at her and smiled, saying, "Am I really that handsome to leave you speechless?"
Li Xiaolu snapped back to reality and shyly replied, "You... how did you end up here?"
Jijun chuckled, "If you can be here, why can't I?"
Li Xiaolu was a bit surprised. "Are you also at New York University?"
Jijun nodded. "Yeah."
Li Xiaolu was taken aback. "What a coincidence!"
Jijun smiled, "Isn't it?"
Li Xiaolu continued to look at him. "Then how come you were in Korea?"
Jijun replied with a smile, "I went to see a friend."
Li Xiaolu looked at him curiously. "You traveled all this way to see a friend?"
Jijun nodded again. "Yeah."
Li Xiaolu stared at him and then suddenly fell silent.
Jijun noticed her silence and asked, "What's wrong?"
After hesitating for a moment, Li Xiaolu said, "What about your niece?"
Jijun paused for a moment, confused. "What niece?"
Li Xiaolu looked at him and clarified, "The girl who was with you last time in Korea."
Jijun chuckled lightly. "You mean Kyra?"
Li Xiaolu nodded slightly and said, "Hmm."
Jijun smiled and replied, "She is not my niece."
Li Xiaolu was somewhat surprised, "She is not your niece?"
Jijun shook his head, "No."
Li Xiaolu looked at him, "Then she is your..."
Jijun gazed back at her, "Are you very curious?"
Li Xiaolu felt a bit embarrassed, "I was just asking casually."
Jijun chuckled, "She is the daughter of a friend of mine."
Li Xiaolu was a bit taken aback, "The daughter of a friend?"
Jijun nodded, "Yes."
Li Xiaolu looked at him, "So what do you do?"
Jijun smiled again, "I am in business."
Li Xiaolu looked at him, "In business?"
Jijun nodded, "Yes."
Li Xiaolu continued to look at him, "Do you have a company in the United States?"
Jijun smiled again, "Yes."
Li Xiaolu asked, "What is the name of your company?"
Jijun looked at her, "Why do you want to know that?"
Li Xiaolu felt a bit awkward, "I was just curious."
Jijun chuckled, "You'll find out later."
Li Xiaolu looked at him and had a faint premonition. She felt that their connection was surely more than this.
