Afterward, Li Xiaolu and Jijun gradually started meeting more often. They had meals together, watched movies, and went shopping. Li Xiaolu enjoyed this simple happiness; she liked being with him, and even when they did nothing, she felt incredibly happy.
One day, Jijun invited her to a high-end French cuisine restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was very popular, usually requiring a reservation a week in advance to get a table. However, Jijun knew the owner, so they could go in without a reservation.
"Have your friends arrived?" Li Xiaolu thought he had invited friends, but it turned out to be a date for just the two of them.
"Yes," Jijun nodded. "I made a reservation just for you."
Li Xiaolu was somewhat surprised; she didn't expect Jijun to do something like that for her. A wave of sweetness surged in her heart, and she couldn't help but smile.
"What are you smiling about?" Jijun asked as he looked at her.
Li Xiaolu shook her head. "It's nothing."
Seeing the smile on her face, Jijun slightly curled his lips.
The car stopped in front of the restaurant, and Jijun got out to open the passenger door for Li Xiaolu. She stepped out and looked up at the restaurant in front of her. The ambiance was very elegant, with dim lighting, soothing music, and a romantic atmosphere.
Li Xiaolu had heard about this restaurant before; it was said that their steak was very tender and had an excellent texture.
Jijun looked at her and asked, "Do you have any dietary restrictions?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head. "No."
Jijun nodded. "Then let's go with the set menu."
Li Xiaolu had no objections, so Jijun took the lead and ordered two set menus.
"The Foie Gras here is quite good; you should try it," Jijun said.
Li Xiaolu nodded. "Okay."
Jijun looked at her and suddenly said, "Your tolerance for alcohol isn't very good. It's best not to drink in front of others in the future."
Li Xiaolu was a bit surprised and asked, "How do you know?"
Jijun smiled and replied, "I've seen it before."
Li Xiaolu recalled what happened last time, and her face couldn't help but turn red. "I'm sorry, I..."
Jijun waved his hand and said, "It's okay. I know you were feeling down."
Li Xiaolu looked at him with some gratitude and said, "Thank you."
Jijun smiled, "No need to be polite with me."
The two chatted as dishes were served one after another.
Li Xiaolu looked at the food in front of her, and her appetite was instantly stimulated.
She picked up her knife and fork and began to eat seriously.
Jijun watched her and asked, "How is it?"
Li Xiaolu nodded, "Hmm, it's really delicious."
Jijun looked at her and smiled slightly, "That's good."
They ate quietly, occasionally exchanging a few words, creating a harmonious atmosphere.
After finishing their meal, Jijun paid the bill, and they walked out of the restaurant together.
The night breeze was cool, brushing against Li Xiaolu's face, making her shiver involuntarily.
Seeing this, Jijun immediately took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.
Li Xiaolu looked at him and said, "Thank you."
Jijun smiled, "No need to be polite with me."
Li Xiaolu gazed at him, feeling warm inside.
It had been a long time since she felt this kind of care from someone. Ever since her parents passed away, she had been alone.
Although her relatives and friends took good care of her, she always felt that something was missing. Now she realizes that what she lacks is a warmth that comes from the heart. And this warmth can only be given to her by Jijun.
The two walked slowly along the road, not saying a word, yet the atmosphere felt anything but awkward.
"Last time I went to Qingdao, I saw a milk tea shop with the sign saying 'Lulu.' I thought, what are the odds? But it really was," Jijun said.
Li Xiaolu laughed at him, "Is there really such a coincidence?"
"I took a picture to show you." Jijun pulled out his phone, scrolled through his album, and handed it to Li Xiaolu.
Li Xiaolu took the phone and saw a photo of the milk tea shop's sign, which indeed read "Lulu."
"Interesting, right? I think it's quite magical," Jijun said.
Li Xiaolu nodded, "It really is quite magical."
Jijun looked at her and asked, "Do you think this is fate?"
Li Xiaolu thought for a moment and replied, "Maybe it is."
Jijun gazed at her with gentle eyes, "I think so too."
As their eyes met, Li Xiaolu felt an inexplicable emotion flowing between them. She quickly looked away and gazed into the distance.
Jijun noticed her evasive gaze and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
"It's getting late; let me walk you home," Jijun said.
Li Xiaolu nodded, "Okay."
