The next morning, when Li Xiaolu woke up, it was already eight o'clock. She looked at the familiar ceiling and paused for a moment. How did she end up in her own room? Wasn't she chatting with Jijun last night? She rubbed her head and sat up.
After getting out of bed and finishing her morning routine, she walked out of the bedroom. In the living room, Jijun was cooking. Li Xiaolu walked over and hugged him from behind. Jijun smiled, "You're awake?"
Li Xiaolu nodded, "Mm." Jijun turned off the stove and looked at her, "Go sit in the living room for a while; breakfast will be ready soon."
Li Xiaolu nodded again, "Mm." She released Jijun and went to sit down in the living room. Jijun brought out a bowl of porridge and placed it in front of her.
Li Xiaolu looked at the porridge and said, "Thank you."
Jijun smiled, "Are you being polite with me?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "It's not politeness; I'm truly grateful."
Jijun ruffled her hair, "Go ahead and eat."
Li Xiaolu nodded, "Mm." She began to eat breakfast. The porridge that Jijun made was rich and delicious. Li Xiaolu finished an entire bowl in one go.
Jijun looked at her and asked, "Are you full?"
Li Xiaolu nodded, "I'm full."
Jijun smiled, "That's good."
Li Xiaolu looked at Jijun and asked, "Do you have anything to do today?"
Jijun shook his head, "No."
Li Xiaolu said, "Then can you accompany me to the hospital?"
Jijun looked at her, "What’s wrong?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head, "I'm almost recovered; I want to go to the hospital to remove the cast."
Jijun nodded, "Okay."
He tidied up the dishes and then drove Li Xiaolu to the hospital.
The doctor examined her and said that Li Xiaolu's ankle had healed well and that the cast could be removed.
Li Xiaolu was very happy.
She could finally get rid of the wheelchair.
Jijun helped her walk out of the hospital.
Li Xiaolu tried to move her legs; although there was still some pain, it was much better than before.
She looked at Jijun and said, "Thank you."
Jijun frowned, "Why are you thanking me again?"
Li Xiaolu smiled, "Because you've helped me a lot."
Jijun looked at her, "I’m willing to help you; you don’t need to say thank you."
Li Xiaolu felt sweet inside.
She said, "Then I’ll head back now."
Jijun nodded, "Okay."
He accompanied Li Xiaolu back to her apartment.
Li Xiaolu said, "You should go back and rest. Come over again in the evening."
Jijun nodded, "Okay."
After he left, Li Xiaolu took a shower and changed into a clean outfit.
She sat on the sofa watching TV, feeling very happy.
...
In the evening, when Jijun arrived, they went to the supermarket together to buy groceries.
Back home, Jijun cooked while Li Xiaolu washed the dishes.
The two of them worked together seamlessly, just like a married couple.
Li Xiaolu really enjoyed this kind of life—simple yet filled with happiness.
...
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, a month had passed.
Li Xiaolu's injuries had completely healed.
Her relationship with Jijun was also getting better and better.
They spent many wonderful moments together.
They hiked mountains, watched movies, cooked meals, and took walks together...
They did many things together, and every moment was filled with sweetness and happiness.
Li Xiaolu felt that she had truly become the happiest woman in the world.
After their brief journey ended, Li Xiaolu and Jijun returned to New York.
On the way, Li Xiaolu opened her palm to let the sunlight filter through her fingers. She turned to Jijun and said, "We must come back next time."
Jijun drove with one hand while holding her hand with the other, "Are you happy?"
Li Xiaolu mimicked his usual tone, "Of course."
She thought to herself that there would never be another couple as in sync as she and Jijun in this world.
I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that.
