After the journey ended, Li Xiaolu returned to her small apartment, feeling as if she hadn't been back in a long time. In reality, it had only been three days.
Her legs were able to walk normally again, but the doctor advised her to continue resting. Jijun still came to her apartment every day to take care of her.
Li Xiaolu said, "I'm fine now; you don't need to come over anymore."
Jijun looked at her and replied, "I don't want to live alone."
Li Xiaolu was confused. "What do you mean?"
Jijun hugged her tightly, resting his chin on the top of her head. "It means you should live with me."
Li Xiaolu's cheeks flushed. "I don't want to..."
Jijun said, "I've taken such good care of you; can you bear to see me living all alone in such a big house?"
Li Xiaolu laughed at him. "Of course I can." She pushed him away. "I want to watch TV now."
Jijun sighed helplessly.
Although Li Xiaolu refused Jijun's suggestion to move in with her, he still gradually brought many things over to her place—his clothes, shoes, skincare products, and toiletries, among other items. Now, Li Xiaolu's home was filled with traces of Jijun.
Through this journey and their daily interactions, Li Xiaolu came to understand that Jijun was a refined person who had high standards for quality of life. He had many good habits, such as going to bed early and waking up early, sticking to a fitness routine, and maintaining a healthy diet.
Influenced by him, Li Xiaolu slowly began to change some of her bad habits. Because the doctor had warned that her leg injury hadn't fully healed yet, Jijun had refrained from taking their relationship to the next level. This was something that deeply touched Li Xiaolu.
She had heard of many couples who ended up together impulsively, but Jijun did not do that. This proved that he was a responsible person who wouldn't think only with his lower body.
That night, Li Xiaolu was watching an American TV show when Zhang Lin suddenly visited. She was holding several takeout containers. "I passed by a Chinese restaurant and bought you some food."
Li Xiaolu was pleasantly surprised. "Thank you! I was just worried about what to eat for dinner."
Zhang Lin glanced around. "Are you here alone?"
Li Xiaolu nodded. "Yeah."
Zhang Lin squinted her eyes. "Isn't Jijun coming over?"
Li Xiaolu paused. "How did you know..."
Suddenly, she realized, "Did you see him?"
Zhang Lin raised an eyebrow. "So, you and Jijun are really together?"
Li Xiaolu silently lowered her gaze.
Zhang Lin sat down beside her. "Wow, you managed to get Jijun without anyone noticing. I thought you two had no chance before."
Li Xiaolu said, "I didn't expect it either."
Zhang Lin sighed. "No wonder you said you were busy with your career; turns out you were busy dating."
Li Xiaolu smiled lightly. "I also didn't think it would turn out this way."
Zhang Lin looked at her. "When did you two start?"
Li Xiaolu replied, "Right after my car accident last time."
Zhang Lin was surprised. "Really? You could think about dating at a time like that?"
Li Xiaolu felt a bit embarrassed by her comment. "Not exactly; I had feelings for Jijun before, but I just never said anything."
Zhang Lin patted her shoulder. "Congratulations! I didn't expect both of us single dogs to find partners. Want to go out and have some fun tonight?"
Li Xiaolu shook her head. "No thanks, I'll just stay home and watch my show."
Zhang Lin clicked her tongue twice and said, "You really are different after getting into a relationship. You used to love going out and having fun the most."
Li Xiaolu felt a bit embarrassed by her words. She realized that she had indeed changed; now she preferred to spend time with her partner rather than going out with friends every day like before.
Suddenly, Zhang Lin remembered something. "By the way, you haven't told anyone about you and Jijun, right?"
Li Xiaolu looked at her and asked, "No one knows?"
Zhang Lin shook her head. "I don't think so. I only found out when I happened to see Jijun with a girl while I was at your school earlier to pick up some materials."
Li Xiaolu smiled, "We haven't made it public yet."
Zhang Lin was surprised. "Why not?"
Li Xiaolu opened her mouth but didn't know what to say.
Zhang Lin continued, "You and Jijun are both single, and you two are such a perfect match. Why not go public? Are you afraid someone will steal him away?"
Li Xiaolu laughed at her teasing. "That's not it."
Zhang Lin pressed on, "Then why?"
Li Xiaolu sighed.
Honestly, she didn't know why either.
Zhang Lin suddenly leaned closer to her. "You’re not feeling insecure, are you?"
Li Xiaolu was taken aback.
Zhang Lin said, "Li Xiaolu, you're the school beauty! So many people are after you; why would you feel insecure? Besides, Jijun has great qualities, but you're not lacking either! You two are simply a match made in heaven!"
Li Xiaolu couldn't help but laugh. "Okay, okay, I get it. Stop saying that."
Zhang Lin huffed playfully. "I just think you two are an incredibly perfect couple! You have to make it public!"
Li Xiaolu smiled again. "Alright, I'll listen to you."
Only then did Zhang Lin feel satisfied. "Now that's more like it."
