"You just need to remember that you are my sister." 0
"I..." 0
I felt a mix of emotions and didn't know what to say. 0
After a moment of silence, I quietly said, "I... I will repay you." 0
He smiled. 0
"Okay." 0
He stood up. 0
"I have something to do, so I'll leave first." 0
He turned and walked away. 0
I watched his retreating figure, feeling warm inside. 0
To repay Huang Xin's kindness, I began to wait every day in places where he might appear. 0
Whenever I saw him, I would bring him pastries and soy milk, inviting him to eat. 0
At first, he was polite and refused my offerings. 0
But later on, he started to come find me on his own. 0
He awkwardly smiled and handed me his casual shoes. 0
I was taken aback. 0
His shoes were very dirty. 0
The soles were thick, covered in mud, and emitted a foul odor. 0
I frowned slightly. 0
Suppressing my discomfort, I smiled and said, "Brother Huang, your shoes..." 0
"Zhao Di, I'm counting on you." 0
"I..." 0
"I only have one pair of shoes." 0
"I..." 0
I felt helpless. 0
I had no choice but to invite him into the courtyard. 0
I prepared a pair of slippers for him. 0
Then, I filled a basin with water to clean his shoes. 0
As soon as I put his shoes in the water, yellow sludge oozed out. 0
I was stunned. 0
How am I supposed to clean this? 0
Even with my toes, I could tell that his shoes were of poor quality and counterfeit. 0
Such shoes are usually glued together and are difficult to clean properly. 0
Even if they were cleaned, they would lose color and leave a pungent smell of glue behind. 0
I felt quite frustrated. 0
I looked up at Huang Xin. 0
He was sitting in the yard, staring blankly at the sky. I thought for a moment and decided not to tell him about it. I sighed, lowered my head, and quietly brushed his shoes. After a long time, I finally got his shoes clean. I breathed a sigh of relief. I placed his shoes on the windowsill to dry. After washing my hands, I walked over to Huang Xin. I looked at him and smiled, "Brother Huang, your shoes are drying over there." He smiled back. "Thank you." "You're welcome." "You..." He hesitated. I curiously asked, "What's wrong?" He looked at me and hesitated, "You... you don't mind my shoes being dirty?" I was slightly taken aback. I smiled. "How could I?" "I..." "Your shoes are fake; they are of poor quality." He awkwardly chuckled. "I... I know." "You..." I hesitated. He awkwardly said, "I... I picked them up from a garbage pile." "Huh?" I was surprised. "You picked them up from a garbage pile?" "Yeah." "You..." "I..." I sighed. My feelings were complicated. After thinking for a moment, I decided to chat with him to ease the awkward atmosphere. I poured him a cup of tea and sat down across from him. Looking at him, I smiled and asked, "Brother Huang, how old are you this year?" He replied with a smile, "I'm 19." "Oh." 0

"Where is your hometown?" 0
"My hometown is in the north." 0
"You..." 0
"My hometown was flooded; the entire village was submerged." 0
"Ah?" 0
"The government didn't provide any relief; everyone in my village died." 0
"You..." 0
"My parents both died." 0
"You..." 0
I felt heavy-hearted, unsure of what to say. 0
I remained silent for a moment and whispered, "How... how did you survive?" 0
He sighed. 0
"I was still young back then, I didn't understand anything." 0
"I wandered everywhere, stealing food to eat." 0
"I was beaten and scolded, but I endured it all." 0
"Later, I met my boss." 0
"Boss?" 0
"The one who helped you take revenge last time." 0
"He is my boss and also my benefactor." 0
"He took me in and brought me along to do business." 0
"He took me to many places and showed me a lot of the world." 0
"He treated me well, like a father." 0
I felt a surge of emotion, filled with envy. 0
If only I had a relative like that. 0
