Chuyi shook her head repeatedly at the "delicacies" in front of her, desperately covering her eyes with her paws. It wasn't hunger that she felt; it was clearly exhaustion!
Yuen Ye looked at Chuyi's reaction, even more confused. "Aren't these things what you like to eat? The book clearly said..."
Before Yuen Ye could finish, Chuyi jumped in front of him, anxiously gesturing with her paws, trying to explain that she didn't really want to eat anything. However, in Yuen Ye's eyes, her actions looked more like a spoiled tantrum.
"Alright, alright, I understand. You don't need to worry," Yuen Ye gently patted Chuyi's head, his tone indulgent. "It must be that these things are too ordinary and unworthy of your status. Don't worry, I'll go find the legendary Spirit Fruit for you. I promise you'll be satisfied."
With that, Yuen Ye turned and walked out of the cave, leaving Chuyi alone in a state of confusion. She truly doubted whether Yuen Ye had some misunderstanding about "foxes"!
"Wait! I don't need Spirit Fruit or anything!" Chuyi shouted at Yuen Ye's retreating figure, but it was as if he didn't hear her and continued straight into the vast forest.
Chuyi sighed helplessly and could only resign herself to following him.
...
Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away from Lingyun Mountain, in a bustling town, a handsome young man dressed in white was strolling down the street, his gaze deep and distant as if he were searching for something.
"Young Master Yun, what are you looking for? Do you need my help?" a burly guard respectfully asked.
The young man in white was none other than Qing Ling, who had regained his memories, and the guard beside him was his friend Tieshan, whom he had met after adopting the alias Yun Jing.
"Nothing, I just feel that this place is somewhat familiar, as if I have been here before." Qing Ling shook his head, his tone calm, but a ripple stirred within him.
Ever since he regained his memories, the image of a snow-white little fox had been floating in his mind. Those lively eyes and mischievous smile seemed so close yet so far away.
"Could it be her?" A strong desire surged within Qing Ling, driving him toward Lingyun Mountain. He had a premonition that the person he was looking for was there.
"Tieshan, we are going to Lingyun Mountain," Qing Ling said firmly as he turned to Tieshan behind him.
"Yes, Young Master Yun." Although Tieshan did not understand why Qing Ling suddenly wanted to go to Lingyun Mountain, he had always obeyed Qing Ling without hesitation and followed him out of the city.
...
Chuyi followed Yuen Ye through the forest. Along the way, Yuen Ye kept asking her what she wanted and vowed to find it for her.
Seeing Yuen Ye's serious expression, Chuyi felt both touched and helpless. How she wished she could speak up and tell Yuen Ye her true identity, to let him know that what she needed was not a Spirit Fruit but a type of spiritual medicine that could transform her form.
However, she was now just a voiceless fox, helplessly watching Yuen Ye toil for a goal that did not even exist.
"Roar!"
A deafening beast roar suddenly came from ahead, startling the nearby birds and beasts and interrupting Chuyi's thoughts.
"Be careful!" Yuen Ye quickly shielded Chuyi behind him, his gaze alert as he looked toward the source of the sound.
A massive black bear slowly emerged from the woods, its muscular body rippling with strength, fangs bared, and a fierce glint in its eyes.
"Is this... the Ironback Bear?" Yuen Ye immediately recognized the beast before him, a sense of dread washing over him.
The Ironback Bear was notorious on Lingyun Mountain for its tough hide and immense strength; even experienced hunters dared not provoke it lightly.
"Roar!"
The Ironback Bear let out a furious roar directed at Yuen Ye and Chuyi, seemingly warning them to leave its territory.
Yuen Ye gently set Chuyi down. "You stay behind me; I'll handle it."
Chuyi looked at the towering figure standing protectively in front of her, warmth flooding her heart, while also feeling a surge of anxiety for Yuen Ye.
