As soon as I entered the hall, I felt a chill run down my spine, as if a cold wind was blowing through. However, Second Uncle and Boss Lu seemed unfazed. At that moment, A-Zhan Ping was walking along the wall and stopped in front of a Staff's desk. He looked up and then turned to Second Uncle and said something in Thai. I noticed that Boss Lu's expression darkened even further, showing signs of fear.
This made me anxious, so I quickly asked what A-Zhan Ping had discovered. Second Uncle pulled me back slightly and gestured with his chin towards where A-Zhan Ping was looking, saying, "He saw a man's face over there, looking very pained."
A face? I looked closely, but there was nothing there except for a ceiling fan. At that moment, Boss Lu suddenly trembled and said, "That Staff, he hanged himself right here..."
I was taken aback, and when I turned back, I saw A-Zhan Ping moving again. After pondering for a moment, Second Uncle speculated that A-Zhan Ping might think this place wasn't the key point causing trouble; there must be another reason.
A few minutes later, A-Zhan Ping walked into an office. Boss Lu's face turned pale because this room belonged to the accountant who had absconded with funds. A-Zhan Ping wandered around the room and suddenly placed his hand on the desk. After a while, he turned to speak to Second Uncle. Second Uncle immediately went over, crouched down as if he intended to look for something under the desk. I heard a tearing sound from beneath the desk, like tape being ripped.
After a bit, Second Uncle stood up with a small box in his hand. The box was about the size of a cigarette case, made of wood with simple lines drawn on it in red ink. Although I didn't understand sorcery, I could tell this was some kind of Spell.
Second Uncle wrapped it in tape and opened the wooden box under the desk. Inside were a tuft of black hair, several animal claws of unknown origin, and a small bottle of yellowish-brown liquid. A-Zhan Ping glanced at it and nodded, confirming they had found the right place.
He told Boss Lu that this was the Spirit-Descending Corpse Oil Box, and that tuft of black hair likely came from an Adult Female. The claws were from a Cat Claw. Cats are often seen as symbols of wealth; many similar talismans use cats as their spirit. However, severed claws are different; they symbolize wealth that is lost halfway through its journey. Thus, these claws were meant to bring financial loss.
As for what was in the bottle, it contained Corpse Oil mixed with various special plants. When combined with the female body hair using an Ajan's method, it could induce confusion and irritability in people. Perhaps this was why the previous Staff went to demand wages; it might have been related to this.
However, why that Staff died remained unclear. Maybe it really was due to overwhelming life pressures?
Out of caution, Second Uncle asked Boss Lu if there was anything else he hadn't mentioned. After all, with the power of the Spirit-Descending Corpse Oil Box, it seemed unlikely that it could drive someone to suicide. Boss Lu stared at the wooden box on the desk; I could see anger and a hint of hesitation on his face. Perhaps he really had something to hide from us. But in the end, he didn't reveal anything else.
Subsequently, A-Zhan Ping recited prayers and spells in the hall to collect the soul of the hanged Staff, preventing any future harm in this place. Boss Lu took one hundred thousand Thai Baht as compensation for his troubles; although not much, this transaction itself posed little danger, so Second Uncle didn't say much more.
It was only after we got into the car that he told me that actually, A-Zhan Ping had sensed heavy Yin Qi on Boss Lu. It was significant and likely came from some evil spirit—not from the soul of that collected Staff, nor from the Spirit-Descending Corpse Oil Box. I paused for a moment and suddenly recalled how I had noticed abnormal reactions from my body when I first saw Boss Lu. Could it be that I could sense evil spirits too?
Not knowing for sure, Second Uncle asked A-Zhan Ping in the car. Upon learning that I had once been possessed by a Spirit Child, which still lingered within me to some extent, he said this was possible. Having a Spirit Child within me meant I was essentially half-possessed; experiencing unusual sensations under such circumstances would be quite normal.
I asked Second Uncle why he didn't just tell Boss Lü directly.
Second Uncle smiled and then told me an ancient story.
There was a family whose roof tiles were broken and always leaked rain, so they called a tiler to repair it. The Master Craftsman climbed onto the roof with his Little Apprentice. Seeing that the damaged area was not large, he took out a few green beans and placed them on top. The Little Apprentice, confused, asked if green beans could really fix the tiles. The Master Craftsman explained that when green beans encounter water, they swell up and naturally seal the gaps. The Little Apprentice, still puzzled, said that even if they could temporarily block the gaps, over time the beans would rot, and it would still leak. The Master Craftsman laughed and said that if they completely fixed this area, where would future business come from?
Second Uncle's business philosophy is quite similar to that of the Master Craftsman. Since Boss Lü was unwilling to speak the truth, he naturally wouldn't remind him further. When problems arose later, they could continue to do business together. For a businessman, continuously engaging in transactions with customers is the way to make money; those who always seek perfect solutions generally do not earn much.
I couldn't accept this way of thinking; I always felt that if things weren't done properly, what would happen if the customer caused trouble?
A few days later, Boss Lü indeed called again. This time it wasn't an issue at work but at home.
His wife had recently been falling down for no reason, either hitting her head or injuring her legs. The most dangerous incident happened in the kitchen when she fell and knocked a knife off the cutting board, nearly cutting her neck.
Their child was also restless; in the middle of the night, he cried out for his mother, saying there was an aunt who was very fierce and even hit him. When the couple turned on the light, they saw their son’s face was bruised as if someone had choked him.
They were startled and hurried to their son's bedroom but found nothing unusual. The window was locked from the inside, making it impossible for anyone to enter or exit.
At first, they didn't take it seriously, but for several consecutive days, their son experienced similar incidents. Not only did he have bruises on his face, but there were also marks on his body. Once, while mother and son were sitting on the sofa watching TV, a chandelier suddenly fell from the ceiling. Fortunately, Boss Lü was nearby; upon hearing the noise, he quickly pulled his wife and child away; otherwise, it could have been fatal.
Boss Lü's wife couldn't sit still anymore and began to curse. They used to be poor and couldn't even afford food. Now things were better, yet trouble struck today and misfortune tomorrow—how could they continue living like this?
Boss Lü had no choice but to seek help from Second Uncle again. Second Uncle had anticipated his troubles; after receiving the call, he said he would ask Ajan to check on their situation.
Subsequently, I followed Second Uncle to pick up A-Zhan Ping and headed to Boss Lü's villa in Nanbang. Upon arrival, Boss Lü's family was sitting in the living room. I saw his son; there wasn't a single good spot on him. Every visible area was covered in bruises as if someone had choked him. The little guy looked about seven or eight years old and panickedly hid in his mother's arms when he saw us.
Boss Lü came over and invited us to sit on the sofa while he detailed what had happened over the past few days. His wife already knew our identities; her gaze was abnormal, filled with resentment as if we were responsible for these misfortunes.
After listening to Boss Lü's account, A-Zhan Ping suddenly shook his head and pointed at Boss Lü's wife and son, saying that each of them carried two different types of Yin Qi. This matter was not caused by the same evil spirit. Moreover, one of the spirits was particularly fierce and extremely complex.
Second Uncle immediately sensed something was off and asked Boss if he had offended the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts recently. Boss's face changed instantly, and he stammered, hesitant to answer. Second Uncle, being astute, could easily tell something was wrong, so he insisted that Boss take us to see the little ghost.
After a moment of hesitation, Boss finally led us upstairs under Second Uncle's urging. He had previously followed Second Uncle's advice and placed the little ghost in a separate room, allowing no one in except for worship purposes. Although his wife knew the origin and purpose of the little ghost, she also refrained from intruding out of respect for the spirits.
However, when we entered the room and saw the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts, we were all left speechless in shock.
Originally, the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts had a shiny, silver-like appearance, but now it looked as if it had been smashed, with its surface pockmarked. One of its arms was even broken in two. Second Uncle stared blankly for a moment before remembering to ask what had happened.
Seeing that he could no longer hide the truth, Boss explained that on the night after their son exhibited strange behavior, they heard noises upstairs and went to check. They found that their son had somehow entered the room where the little ghost was kept and had thrown the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts to the ground, stomping on it. The most bizarre part was that while he stomped, he cried out, "Don't pinch me anymore, Auntie! I've done it all! Please stop pinching; it hurts so much..."
The couple was terrified and quickly took their child away. Meanwhile, Boss looked at the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts on the floor and felt as if his soul was about to leave his body. When he bought this item initially, Second Uncle had clearly stated that once you offend the little ghost, there would be no good outcome.
After hesitating for a long time, Boss ultimately decided not to call Second Uncle. He felt he hadn't broken any rules. Although his son had treated the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts like trash by stomping on it for a while, children are ignorant and shouldn't have too much impact; after all, ignorance is no crime.
With this sense of luck on his side and wanting to appease the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts, Boss sought out a Goldsmith the next day to replate it with pure silver and even reattached the broken arm.
However, when he went to worship it on the third day, he found that the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts was once again pockmarked as if it had been smashed again. Furious, he rushed downstairs and beat his son. His wife heard the commotion and quickly ran over; upon seeing their son's rear end bruised from being hit, she immediately cried out and rushed at him in a frenzy.
Shaking with anger, Boss pointed at his wife and said, "If you want me dead, then protect him! Just wait until I'm gone—who will take care of you then!"
His wife thought something terrible had happened and asked what was going on. When she learned that the Ghost of Ten Thousand Ghosts had been damaged again, she lunged at Boss, scratching and grabbing at him. The reason was simple: she had slept in the same room as their son last night and hadn’t dared to close her eyes all night; she had never seen him go outside. Even if someone had tampered with that little ghost, it couldn't have been their son.
