Fat Daoist frowned and said, "When Evil Spirit comes out, it will be very dangerous! As an ordinary person, you shouldn't stay here." 0

I replied, "It's okay. I've seen quite a bit with Thai Ajarn and I'm mentally prepared. Besides, I have Amulet and Spirit Child for protection; an ordinary Evil Spirit can't do anything to me." 0

"You have Spirit Child? Have you learned Southeast Asian Evil Arts?" Fat Daoist asked, somewhat surprised. 0

I shook my head and explained that it was an unexpected outcome. Fat Daoist paused for a moment, then muttered, "What a hassle; there are all kinds of strange things." 0

At this point, he realized it wouldn't be easy to drive me out of the room, so he agreed to let me stay. This also gave me a bit more confidence in him. If he didn't have some skills, how could he dare to let someone else observe? 0

Holding a peach wood sword, Fat Daoist waved it back and forth in the air, then lifted several talismans with it and ignited them on the candle, beginning to chant. Although he looked quite serious while wielding the sword, I still felt something was lacking. In movies, Taoists can make Paper Talisman spontaneously combust with just a flick; that's impressive. Unbeknownst to Fat Daoist, after chanting for a while, he suddenly stomped his foot, pointed at the Drum Set, and shouted, "Hey! You ghost! Ascend to the heavens and descend to the underworld; I summon you from the human realm—Five Spirits God, by the command of Taishang Laojun, come forth!" 0

Strangely enough, after this shout, the burning speed of the Paper Talisman suddenly accelerated and burned completely in an instant. I dared not blink as I carefully sensed the atmosphere in the room, trying to understand what Five Spirits God was. However, apart from the Yin Qi, there were no other energies present. Fat Daoist crouched down quickly grabbed several talismans and affixed them to the Drum Set, then struck it several times with his peach wood sword. Next, he pulled out an ancient-looking compass from his Daoist Robe, shouting at the Drum Set, "With the aid of Five Spirits God, repel the Evil Spirit!" 0

However, after shouting several times, there was no special response in the room. After calling out a few more times, Fat Daoist suddenly stomped his foot again and said, "You Evil Spirit, indeed powerful; no wonder you can cause trouble in the human realm. But encountering me is your misfortune!" 0

As he spoke, he bit his fingertip and let a drop of blood fall onto the compass while mumbling incessantly. His voice was soft and faint, making it hard to hear clearly; even when I strained to listen, I could only vaguely catch a few indistinct words like busy and worship—what they meant was unclear. 0

This guy is acting like he's performing some kind of sorcery; can he really drive away the evil spirit from the Drum Set? Just as I was doubting him, I felt an unusual energy emerge in the room. 0

This energy felt somewhat sinister but wasn't filled with death like ordinary spirits. It slithered out of the compass like a long snake and circled around the Drum Set. I faintly heard a man's mournful wailing; a cold wind blew through the room causing the Paper Talisman to rustle loudly as many were blown down. Holding the compass firmly without moving an inch, Fat Daoist maintained a calm expression on his face, exuding an aura of an accomplished expert. 0

The Drum Set suddenly vibrated, producing a loud banging sound as if someone was striking it violently. Within a few seconds, the drum surface stopped shaking, and two streams of Yin Qi intertwined and rushed into the compass, disappearing in an instant. 0

I was quite surprised; the disappearance of the Yin Qi indicated that the spirit had already been collected. I had originally thought there would be a fierce battle, but it turned out to be so easy. However, at that moment, the Fat Daoist did not stop; instead, he shouted, "What a powerful ghost! It seems I must use my ultimate skills. Watch how powerful my twenty years of mastery in Palm Thunder is!" 0

After saying this, he drew a few lines in his palm with his bitten finger and then struck the Drum Set forcefully. From his stance, it looked quite impressive. 0

I was somewhat puzzled; with the Yin Qi gone, wasn't the spirit collected yet? Although I found it strange, I thought to myself that perhaps the spirit could hide its Yin Qi. The Fat Daoist struck about ten times before he finally stopped, panting heavily. He glanced at the compass and wiped the sweat from his forehead, saying, "I'm exhausted! Why is there no air conditioning in this place?" 0

Seeing that he had time to chat, I hurriedly asked what the outcome was. The Fat Daoist looked quite pleased and said, "When I make a move, it's like having two people. That Evil Spirit may have a hundred years of Dao Xing, but it's no match for the Maoshan Exorcism Technique; it has already been captured in the compass. Once we return, I'll find a place to use the Soul Lantern to deal with it." 0

"What is the Soul Lantern?" I asked curiously. 0

The Fat Daoist explained, "As they say, when a person dies, it's like a lamp going out. If wandering souls want to enter reincarnation, they need to use the Reincarnation Lantern to ascend to heaven or enter the underworld. This is a unique secret technique of Maoshan that ordinary Daoists do not understand." 0

I responded with an "oh," thinking it was indeed fascinating and something I had never heard of before. Looking again at the compass in the Fat Daoist's hand, I realized that it was only after applying blood on it that another aura appeared. It seemed this compass was quite a powerful magical tool. I expressed my desire to take a look at it, expecting that the Fat Daoist would gladly agree. To my surprise, he instinctively hid the compass behind him as if to say that without the compass, life would be at stake. Perhaps realizing his nervousness was excessive, he laughed heartily and said, "It's not that I don't want to show it to you; it's just that this compass is sensitive to strangers. If someone else takes it, it won't be happy." 0

I rolled my eyes and chuckled lightly, saying, "What a considerate compass..." 0

The Fat Daoist nodded with a hearty laugh and replied, "Yes, yes..." 0

I internally scoffed at his stinginess and then opened the door to call Qin Dad over. Upon learning that the evil spirit in the Drum Set had been captured, Qin Dad was very pleased. The Fat Daoist boasted about his achievements proudly before letting out a sigh. We were all baffled by his sighing; Qin Dad quickly asked, "Master, what's wrong?" 0

The Fat Daoist replied, "I didn't expect that the spirit in this drum would be so powerful. It took me tremendous effort to capture it. Not only did I expend vital blood but also used the secret technique Palm Thunder. This kind of thunder method is very harmful to one's health; it might shorten my lifespan by several years. However, being able to eliminate such a great threat for everyone makes it worth it!" 0

"Qin Dad" sighed and after a few seconds said, "You've worked hard, Master. Don't worry, the extra twelve thousand will be brought to you right away." 0

The "Fat Daoist" remained silent. "Qin Dad" asked "Hu Xiaoyi" to help entertain us, pouring tea and cutting fruit, while he went out alone to get the money. After about ten minutes, he returned with fifteen thousand yuan. He gave twelve thousand to the "Fat Daoist" and stuffed three thousand into my hands. I was a bit taken aback, not understanding his intention. "Qin Dad" said, "Thanks to 'Xiao Shen' for introducing us to such an expert. Although this three thousand is not much, it's a token of appreciation; I hope you won't mind." 0

"Hu Xiaoyi" glanced at me and then at "Qin Dad," remaining silent. After a few seconds of silence, I placed the three thousand on the tea table and stood up to leave. "Qin Dad" was slightly stunned, thinking he had offended me somehow. I said, "This isn't about the money or anything else; it's just that I've fulfilled my duty and don't need to take anything more." 0

After saying that, I left the room. "Qin Dad" looked at the three thousand on the tea table, hesitated for a moment, then handed it to "Hu Xiaoyi," hoping he could pass it on to me. I had already made it clear that I didn't want the money, and "Hu Xiaoyi" certainly wouldn't take it upon himself to decide. He declined and ran out to find me standing there with a forlorn expression, asking if I was feeling down. I sighed and couldn't quite explain why I felt that way. 0

Later, "Second Uncle" heard about this incident and scolded me harshly. Why refuse money that was offered? What was I trying to prove by acting so high and mighty? 0

But that's how I was during my student days—sometimes sharp, sometimes foolish. Looking back now, I realize how simple and kind-hearted I was back then. 0

I chatted casually with "Hu Xiaoyi" for a bit before the "Fat Daoist" came out. "Qin Dad" saw him off at the door and glanced at me and "Hu Xiaoyi," hesitating for a moment before not following us. However, the "Fat Daoist" approached me. He turned around and saw that "Qin Dad" had already gone inside, then pulled out part of the money from his pocket and handed it to me. I looked at him in confusion and asked, "What does this mean? You’re not acting as his intermediary, are you?" 0

"I certainly don't have time for that," the "Fat Daoist" replied with a smile. "This two thousand five hundred is for you. Did you really think that the five thousand I added was just for myself? You've worked hard; how could it be for nothing? You must accept this money." 0
