I never expected that the Fat Daoist would give me a portion of money, although it didn't change my opinion of him. After hesitating for a moment, I accepted the two thousand five hundred yuan. The Fat Daoist patted my shoulder and said, "You can be taught. If something like this happens in the future, remember me; you won't miss out on your benefits."
I didn't respond. At that moment, Qin Dad came over after closing the door and said he wanted to treat us to dinner. It turned out he had already made plans with the Fat Daoist to go to a well-known restaurant in Heze. The Fat Daoist invited me to join, but I wasn't in the mood, so I declined. Hu Xiaoyi, who always followed me, naturally wouldn't go either. Once those two left, Hu Xiaoyi looked at me with a strange expression, and I asked, "What do you want to say?"
Hu Xiaoyi asked, "Why did you refuse the three thousand from Qin Dad but accept the Daoist's money?"
I took out the two thousand five hundred yuan and handed it to Hu Xiaoyi along with the portion I had previously scammed from the Instrument Store, saying, "You can give this money to Qin Zhenzhen when you have time. It might not be as much as fifteen thousand, but it's better than nothing."
Hu Xiaoyi was quite surprised; he thought I was going to pocket the money but didn't realize I intended to return it to the Qin family. I said, "Now do you understand why I'm willing to take the Daoist's money?"
Hu Xiaoyi stared at me for a while and then said, "Old Two, sometimes I really don't understand you."
I smiled and replied, "Sometimes I don't understand myself either. Isn't that pretty silly?"
Hu Xiaoyi thought for a moment, nodded, and said, "It is quite silly."
I didn't comment further; having an extra ten thousand or losing ten thousand wouldn't significantly impact my life. But still, as I've said before, I won't greedily take money that shouldn't be earned—that's the biggest difference between me and Second Uncle.
Since this matter was resolved, I planned to go home. Hu Xiaoyi strongly urged me to stay a couple more days, saying that Qin Zhenzhen wanted to treat us to dinner. It was obvious that this wasn't something Qin Zhenzhen had said; that girl had just undergone surgery and would probably need to stay in the hospital for a week or two—how could she have time to eat with me? However, seeing Hu Xiaoyi so enthusiastic, I had no choice but to stay for another two days.
The Fat Daoist probably had nothing much going on lately and decided to stay with me as well. Since we were in a standard twin room, I didn't mind. Getting to know someone like him better wasn't a bad thing at all.
Fat Daoist asked me how the Amulet business was doing at home. He didn't know that the Shen Family in Thailand was related to me, so I humbly replied that it was just a small operation, enough to make ends meet. Fat Daoist confidently said, "Although my twin brother is involved in some outside dealings, he has some abilities. If your family keeps in touch with him, you will definitely be able to grow and strengthen your business!"
I nodded and said, "Then I'll be counting on my two chubby brothers."
Fat Daoist laughed heartily and said, "In the mortal world, my surname is Ma, and my given name is Rulong. You can just call me Brother Ma from now on."
Ma Rulong... Looking at his height of about five feet seven inches but weighing at least over two hundred pounds, I really couldn't connect the name with the person. When I asked about the name of the one in Thailand, Ma Rulong said that although they were twins, their parents divorced when they were very young. One followed their father, and the other followed their mother. Ma Rulong took his father's surname, while his mother remarried a Thai businessman, so the other chubby brother is named Banrada.
I remarked that you two brothers are quite impressive, combining your strengths like a dual sword technique, mastering both Buddhism and Daoism. Ma Rulong chuckled a few times, looking quite pleased with himself. Just as he was boasting about how he had dealt with those fierce Evil Spirits in recent years, Hu Xiaoyi suddenly called. As soon as I answered, I heard him anxiously say, "Not good! Qin Zhenzhen is in trouble!"
I immediately sat up straight in bed and asked, "What happened? What's going on?"
Hu Xiaoyi replied, "I don't know! Her dad called and said that Qin Zhenzhen was talking nonsense again in the middle of the night, and it's gotten worse. He asked if it was because the Evil Spirits weren't completely dealt with."
I quickly turned to Ma Rulong and said, "Qin Zhenzhen is in trouble; her dad suspects that the spirits weren't taken care of properly, so he wants us to go check it out."
"Impossible!" Despite Ma Rulong being quite overweight, he moved swiftly. He jumped up and said firmly, "The spirits in that drum must have been dealt with; would I lie to you?"
I remained silent and just watched him quietly. After shouting a few times, Ma Rulong suddenly waved his hand dismissively and said irritably, "Fine, fine! I'll go along with you this time."
I nodded and informed Hu Xiaoyi that we would arrive in about half an hour. Fat Daoist grumbled as he followed us out the door, looking quite displeased. Noticing he was dressed casually without even bringing his Daoist Robe, I asked, "Aren't you bringing anything?"
Ma Rulong snorted and said, "I've already told you; the spirits in that drum were definitely dealt with. As for my compass... Anyway, I'm not lying to you; she probably has issues of her own and is just overly suspicious."
Seeing him so confident, I didn't know what to say. After arriving at the hospital, the doctor was busy. Qin Dad saw us and immediately walked over. He first frowned at Ma Rulong and after a few seconds said, "Master, are you really sure that the ghost has been taken away?"
Ma Rulong was quite impatient and replied, "Absolutely certain!"
This classic line that was once all the rage made Qin Dad hesitant to voice too many doubts. I peeked into the patient room and asked about the situation inside. Qin Dad sighed and said, "I really don't know what's going on. She's acting like she's gone mad; no matter how we try to persuade her, she won't listen."
It turned out that after Fat Daoist Ma Rulong's boasting yesterday, Qin Dad thought the issue had been resolved and there was no need for further concern, so he let his guard down. Neither of them stayed overnight at the hospital and went straight home. In the middle of the night, a nurse came to check on the room and found Qin Zhenzhen crying while doing something to her belly. She pushed the door open to ask what was happening but saw that both of Qin Zhenzhen's hands were covered in blood. Her belly had been pried open with her fingers, meticulously peeling back the skin.
The nurse screamed in horror, calling for a doctor while rushing over to stop Qin Zhenzhen from harming herself. But Qin Zhenzhen acted as if she were insane, forcefully pushing and hitting the nurse while shouting, "Don't stop me! I need to fix the drum!"
The doctors and nurses had no idea what drum she was talking about and assumed that Qin Zhenzhen had a mental issue, immediately calling her parents. Upon learning that their daughter was in trouble again, Qin Dad and Qin Mama were both angry and anxious. By the time they arrived at the hospital, the doctor had already injected two doses of sedatives into Qin Zhenzhen. This was double the usual amount but still couldn't calm her down completely. She stared intently at her bloody belly, murmuring, "I have to fix the drum... I must fix it... I can't let him leave disappointed..."
No one understood what she was saying. After thinking for a moment, Qin Dad hesitated to confront Ma Rulong directly because that would imply he thought Ma Rulong was a fraud. Instead, he called Hu Xiaoyi to inform her of the situation. Afterward, Hu Xiaoyi called me. It took this roundabout way for things to be clarified.
Fat Daoist was already furious upon hearing this and said, "Are you still doubting me? I've caught so many monsters; is it worth it to deceive you? Besides, if I were trying to trick you, why would I come here instead of running away?"
This made sense; a real con artist would leave immediately after succeeding rather than come back to the hospital willingly. Logically speaking, Ma Rulong coming with me proved he wasn't lying. Qin Dad quickly said, "I'm not doubting you, Master; I just feel something is off and wanted you to take a look."
After some coaxing and promising additional payment as a reward, Ma Rulong arrogantly walked into the patient room. Because they discovered it in time, Qin Zhenzhen only had some minor injuries on her belly. Even so, with a large patch of skin peeled back, it still caused her significant pain as she gritted her teeth. Knowing she had received twenty or thirty stitches on her belly made Qin Zhenzhen cry in anger. What girl doesn't love beauty? No one wants an ugly scar appearing out of nowhere.
When I followed him into the patient room, I didn't sense any Yin Qi present. Clearly, there were no spirits here at all. After wandering around the room for a bit using some method I couldn't discern, Ma Rulong came out and told an anxious-looking Qin Dad, "It's cleaner in there than my face; there's nothing at all!"
