Only Mr. Qian not only dared not come up but also nervously ran out of the mansion. Logically speaking, a wealthy family like this should have security personnel at every residence. However, in the Farm, apart from a few nurses and doctors, there was no one else. Later, Mr. Qian explained that there had been bodyguards before. But since his father's body was decaying, he didn't want too many people to know about it, so he dismissed them. Therefore, when this guy ran out of the mansion, he instinctively wanted to call for help but suddenly remembered that not only were there no people, but even a dog might not come.
When Second Uncle and I reached the second floor, we saw the corpse jump out of the window. Ajan Dong chased to the window's edge, hesitated for a moment, and did not follow it down. Second Uncle angrily shouted a few times but realized when he got to the window that although it was the second floor, there were many farming tools below. If it weren't for professionals, one could easily get hurt.
Watching that corpse flee into the Vineyard, Second Uncle cursed in frustration and urged us to hurry down and chase after it. This corpse had already learned to eat people; it must not be allowed to escape, or who knows how many people would be killed!
My mind was almost in a daze as I couldn't help but ask how it could eat people if it could be controlled.
Ajan Dong seemed to understand and replied in Thai. After hearing him, Second Uncle said to me, "That fat guy is miles away; do you think it's a satellite phone? It could indeed be controlled before, but any magical tool has its limits. With such distance between us now, once the evil spirit's power increases due to Resentment, it's hard to control! And since it's an evil spirit, who knows what it might do? Eating people is just normal!"
I cursed Banrada in my heart; when he took my money, he made everything sound great, but now it was a complete mess.
We exited the mansion and saw Mr. Qian standing with two nurses. No one dared to mention the dead person again. Second Uncle approached Mr. Qian and told him that his father was unwilling to accept treatment and had already fled; he needed to be brought back. For Mr. Qian's safety, we hoped he would stay here and not go with us.
Naturally, Mr. Qian did not want to take such risks, even if his father had run into the Vineyard. So after providing us with an outstanding off-road vehicle, he watched us leave.
Without Mr. Qian's interference, it was much easier for us to talk. From Ajan Dong, we learned that the evil spirit within this corpse was already difficult to control; it needed to be collected and refined or killed directly. The only fortunate thing was that Barulan's skills were indeed impressive; the evil spirit was locked inside and could not easily transfer to someone else. So as long as we could find the corpse, it wouldn't be a big problem.
As Second Uncle drove into the Vineyard while glaring at me, he said, "Look at what you've done!"
I lowered my head and didn't dare speak; I could only grip the baseball bat tightly and thought that when I saw that corpse later, I would smash it down like Fatty Banlada!
The vineyard here isn't too high. Second Uncle, feeling anxious, drove recklessly, knocking down row after row of grapevines. Fortunately for the Qian Family, if it had been someone else, they would have been devastated. The corpse of Old Tycoon moved quickly; I really couldn't understand how a body controlled by an evil spirit could reach speeds comparable to a car.
Ajan Dong explained that this was because the evil spirit had already fused closely with the body. The nerve medication from Barulan, while preventing stiffness in the muscles and joints, actually served as a boost for the evil spirit. Without that medication, the corpse wouldn't be able to move at all, let alone run.
The more he spoke, the more frustrated I became. What had once seemed like an amazing thing was now all bad news; it was truly infuriating!
The vineyard was vast, extending for an unknown number of meters. In such a large area, it was difficult to find a single corpse. Fortunately, Ajan Dong held Yueye, which allowed him to easily sense the lingering Yin Qi. Second Uncle followed his directions like a crazed bull, charging through the woods.
This powerful four-wheel-drive vehicle handled the grapevines with relative ease; if we had been in a small sedan, we might have been completely entangled and unable to move.
Before long, we burst out of the vineyard and saw a figure running wildly ahead. Not far beyond that were some houses—those of people living near the farm. If this corpse made its way into a crowd, even if it didn't kill anyone, it would certainly cause a huge commotion. However, we were too late; as we approached the houses, we could hear screams and cries coming from inside.
Second Uncle jumped out of the car and kicked open the door, rushing inside. The blood-soaked corpse was holding onto the body of a young girl. Its mouth, which had very little flesh left, opened and closed as it emitted a dark sound. At that moment, I didn't understand what it was saying; later, Second Uncle told me it was saying: "I am still alive; I want blood... my blood..."
Second Uncle's eyes turned red with urgency, but before he could get closer, the corpse tossed aside the body and leaped out of the window. Without hesitation, Second Uncle turned and dashed out of the house, jumping back into the car and flooring the accelerator. He drove like a stuntman in a movie; as he rounded the corner of the house, the off-road vehicle screeched loudly against the ground. When I caught up with him, I saw that Second Uncle had already chased after the corpse. The roar of the engine echoed as the massive vehicle charged forward like a mad bull.
No matter how fast the corpse ran, it couldn't outrun a car on flat ground and was immediately sent flying upon impact.
Second Uncle slammed on the brakes hard; the vehicle skidded for over a hundred meters before coming to a stop. He kicked open the car door and grabbed his Golf Club before sprinting toward the deformed corpse he had just hit. Swinging the bat fiercely, he shouted angrily: "I let you run! You bastard! You want to eat people? I'll make you eat! I'll kill you!"
His movements were swift and brutal. When Ajan Dong and I approached to see what was happening, Old Tycoon's head was nearly smashed to pulp. The entire corpse was mangled beyond recognition. Yet Second Uncle wasn't satisfied; he continued to swing his Golf Club down on it.
In the end, it was Ajan Dong who couldn't bear to watch any longer and stopped him, arguing that if he kept hitting it like this, there would be no way to explain things to Victim later—after all, we couldn't just bring back a pile of mush and say it was His Father!
Second Uncle broke free from Ajan Dong's restraints, threw the bloodied Golf Club on the ground, and then walked towards the house where the cries continued. Ajan Dong crouched down, holding Yueye in one hand and pressing down on the corpse with the other, continuously chanting scriptures, intending to exorcise the evil spirit.
I watched for a few minutes, then turned and walked to the door of the house, just in time to see Second Uncle softly comforting the middle-aged couple. He knew I had arrived and glanced up at me without acknowledging my presence. I didn't know what to say or do; the young girl on the ground stared wide-eyed. Her face was filled with fear and pain, and the blood was so glaring that it pierced my heart like a knife.
I knew she was innocent, someone who should have been happily living on this Farm, perhaps with a happy family and lovely children.
But now, everything was ruined.
This incident had a profound impact on me; it could be said to have changed my thoughts and altered my fate.
I had often heard that the ignorant are fearless and that those who do not know are not guilty, but no one ever told me that the ignorant deserve to die!
Second Uncle brought back my and Old Tycoon's mangled bodies. When Mr. Qian saw his father in such a tragic state, his expression darkened. He even threw away the Golf Club used by Second Uncle from the car with great force and cursed loudly. He didn't name anyone specifically, but everyone knew he was cursing us. He felt that if his father had died of cancer, at least it wouldn't have been so gruesome; they could have held a memorial service for people to pay their respects. But now, his father was in such a terrible state that there was nothing to pay respects to.
If it had been a normal transaction, Second Uncle might have argued with him or even lost his temper. But this time, Second Uncle did not explain anything or show any particular expression; he silently waited for Mr. Qian to finish cursing before leading us away from Australia.
This was one of the biggest failures of my life and one of the most unforgivable mistakes I made in my youth.
On the plane, Second Uncle did not blame me at all; he only asked me, "Do you remember what that girl looked like?"
I felt tears streaming from my eyes and nodded vigorously, saying, "I remember!"
