Boss Yin was even more surprised and said, "Wasn't he blessing Arhat in the car? How come you didn't see him?"
I replied that I didn't see anyone; there was only Golden Arhat in the car, and the person had long since disappeared! Boss Yin was alarmed and said over the phone that he would return immediately. Additionally, he urged me to quickly check if Golden Arhat had been swapped out. If someone replaced it with a gold-plated or copper one and took the real item, it would be a huge loss.
His instructions startled me as well, so I hurriedly examined Golden Arhat from every angle. From its color, weight, and shape, it looked exactly like the one Boss Yin had shown me before; it should be genuine.
But I couldn't be sure, so I rushed to the door and called out to Ajan Dong, then tossed Golden Arhat to him, saying, "Can you check if this thing is useful?"
At that moment, the surrounding blood mud had completely engulfed the platform, with many liquids crawling toward the center of the platform like living creatures. Ajan Dong was almost finished drawing his Invocation Spell, but his Demon-Slaying Blade had completely lost its effectiveness. The color of the blood mud grew darker, as if it had been soaked in blood for years.
When Ajan Dong caught Golden Arhat, his body trembled in shock. A few seconds later, his expression transformed into one of delight.
He quickly turned around, found a pre-dug hole, and stuffed Golden Arhat into it. In that instant, I felt as if the entire room shook. Before I could think about whether it was real or just an illusion, I saw Ajan Dong turn back to continue drawing his Invocation Spell.
I noticed that the red liquid on the platform had stopped flowing. Even the surrounding blood mud ceased to change. This was truly a pleasant surprise; the Golden Arhat taken from the car actually worked! By sheer luck, I had helped Ajan Dong immensely. I felt overjoyed but also puzzled.
The monk hadn't come with Boss Yin. Did he leave directly? But his blessing was too quick; it had only been a few hours.
Just as Ajan Dong was about to finish his Invocation Spell, Boss Yin arrived, drenched in sweat. He rushed over to me and asked, "Where's Golden Arhat? Where's the monk?"
I gestured for him to look below and said, "Golden Arhat has already been placed inside; it should be genuine. As for that monk, he probably left."
Upon hearing that Golden Arhat hadn't been swapped out, Boss Yin finally relaxed. He leaned over to take a look below and was astonished, asking, "What's going on? The platform is almost submerged!"
I explained that the power of the Cursed Land had suddenly erupted and nearly killed Ajan Dong. Fortunately, he cut open his thigh and gritted his teeth to hold on. I brought back Golden Arhat from the car just in time to counteract the power of the Cursed Land. Now that Ajan Dong just needed to finish his Invocation Spell, we should be able to seal this place completely.
As I was speaking, Ajan Dong suddenly shouted, "Bring down the tombstone!"
Boss Yin and I quickly lifted the tombstone and sent it down using a pulley system. Ajan Dong placed the tombstone above where Golden Arhat was located; it was also the only spot on the entire platform without an Invocation Spell. This tombstone, taken from the Ancient Graveyard, had been polished again and engraved with the Invocation Spell as per Ajan Dong's instructions.
Now, Ajan Dong was continuously applying gold paint along the pre-carved grooves. In less than half a minute, the entire tombstone gleamed with golden light.
Ajan Dong put down his pen and Gold Paint, walked over to pull out the Demon-Slaying Blade, then clasped his hands together and began to chant loudly.
The sound echoed like roaring waves and the long tolling of a bell. This voice reverberated in the pit, and I vaguely saw countless Invocation Spells radiating bright golden light.
An inexplicable force trembled in the underground space, leading to events that were hard to comprehend.
The blood mud covering the surface of the platform was continuously losing its vivid color. All the crimson seemed to retreat back into the cave like startled snakes. Soon, there was no red left in sight. Boss Yin, not being blind, could naturally see the changes here. He was overjoyed and asked if it had been resolved.
I leaned over to look at Ajan Dong; his chanting had not stopped and would likely take a long time, so I suggested we wait a bit longer, as it was uncertain at this moment.
Upon hearing this, Boss Yin became somewhat anxious, thinking there might still be changes.
After about an hour, Ajan Dong finally stopped chanting. He opened his eyes and looked around before walking to the edge of the platform and inserting the Demon-Slaying Blade again. This time, his expression was calm. A few minutes later, he pulled out the blade and climbed back up.
Boss Yin hurriedly asked how it went. Ajan Dong replied, "The Cursed Land has been sealed now, but to stabilize the effect, it needs to be reinforced for seven consecutive days before sealing this place with cement to prevent anyone from accidentally entering."
Boss Yin patted his chest, looking relieved, and said, "That's good, that's good; as long as it can be resolved..."
I walked over to support Ajan Dong and asked how his leg injury was. Ajan Dong smiled slightly and said it was nothing serious. Although he said that, we could all see that his entire pant leg was soaked with blood. Boss Yin was also perceptive and immediately insisted on taking Ajan Dong to the hospital, promising to cover all medical expenses and even give an extra red envelope as a reward.
Seeing him so understanding, I decided not to say anything more.
While taking us to the hospital, as we passed through the building's entrance, Boss Yin rolled down the car window and shouted at the security guard, "With such big eyes, you can't even keep an eye on people! What are you doing? I'll deal with you when I get back!"
He was referring to that monk. The security guard looked innocent and had no idea what had happened.
After arriving at the hospital and undergoing a thorough examination, the doctor confirmed it was just a regular cut without any damage to muscles or bones. After bandaging it up, he said Ajan Dong just needed to rest for a few days until it healed. Boss Yin busied himself with all the paperwork and insisted that Ajan Dong stay in the hospital for a few days. He also mentioned he would go get money for us right away to cover all expenses.
His willingness was refreshing, especially considering the bizarre scenes that had unfolded earlier in the house.
While Boss Yin was away from the hospital getting money, I asked Ajan Dong what we should do about the escaped Cursed Spirit. With his leg injured, I certainly wouldn't agree to let him run around again.
Ajan Dong said there was no need to worry. When sealing the Cursed Land, he had already seen through its mysteries. Although the Cursed Spirit would transfer and follow the corpse away, ultimately, it would have to return to the house. So all we needed to do was wait for someone who shouldn't be there to appear in the house, and we would successfully find the Cursed Spirit.
Of course, during the days he was away, it was best not to let anyone enter that house, lest something happened and we couldn't react in time.
After chatting for a while, I let Ajan Dong rest for a bit and then went out to the hallway for a smoke. At that moment, Boss Yin called me. He sounded very excited on the phone and said, "Hey bro, do you know how that monk left?"
Seeing him so happy, I joked back, "Did he fly away?"
"How could that be..." Boss Yin replied. "Earlier, I was scolding that security guard for not keeping an eye on things, so he checked the surveillance footage himself and said he didn't see anyone leave the car! So that monk never left; he has been in the car all along!"
This left me confused, and I asked curiously, "Surveillance? Is your car's camera connected to the security guard's system?"
Of course, that was impossible. Even if it were connected, it would only be useful with the police. Boss Yin sheepishly told me that he had been worried that the monk was an imposter, so he had someone point all the surveillance cameras at the car. If they saw the monk get out with anything, they would immediately apprehend him. However, the footage only showed him putting the monk in the car and then getting out alone. After that, the car remained quiet, and its doors never opened until I ran over to take out the Golden Arhat.
I was somewhat astonished and said, "How is that possible..."
Boss Yin also found it hard to believe, so he specifically went back to check the surveillance footage again and confirmed that there was no sign of the monk leaving. That's why he insisted that the monk never left.
However, this made it even harder for me to understand. If the monk didn't get out of the car, how did he disappear from inside? Was it magic?
Boss Yin couldn't explain what happened either; he just called me to share this strange occurrence because he was excited and thrilled.
