One day, as I just arrived at the dormitory building, my mother spotted me. She immediately knelt down and cried out, "Daughter, please, your dad and I are begging you, help us!" 0

"We have worked three jobs each to support your education, and now we are exhausted and sick. Have a little pity on us!" 0

"Look at you, so fair and plump, while we, your parents, have become as thin as bamboo poles. Can you bear to see this?" 0

"Other kids go out to work part-time during weekends and holidays to help with household expenses, but you, like a vampire, just cling to us and drain our resources!" 0

My father squatted beside me, sighing heavily. He tugged at my mother and said, "If it comes to that, we might have to sell the house. We can't let our child go hungry." 0

My mother cried even harder, "I don't care! She must give me money today; otherwise, I'm not leaving!" With that, she threw herself on the ground and started rolling around in a tantrum. 0

I also knelt down with a thud. Tears filled my eyes as I said, "Mom, it's not that I'm heartless; I really have no money." 0

"My tuition alone costs several thousand each month, and I can barely afford food. Right now, I'm both poor and hungry; I can only manage to keep up with my studies. I truly have no money to give you." 0

"Unlike my brother, who takes fifty thousand from home every month for research funding. Why don't you ask him for some?" 0

As soon as I said this, my mother's expression changed dramatically. "What nonsense are you talking about? Your brother is doing research; it's not the same!" 0

I retorted, "How do I know it's different? Aren't you biased towards boys?" 0

"Why is it that when it comes to money, suddenly it's about gender equality?" 0
Mom angrily said, "You ungrateful child, I raised you with so much effort, and this is how you repay me?" 0
I laughed, "You raised me? When did you ever take care of me?" 0
"From childhood to now, it was Grandpa who took care of me. He was responsible for everything." 0
"You were always busy taking care of my brother, not even glancing at me. Now you have the nerve to say you raised me?" 0
Around us, classmates stopped to watch the drama unfold, pointing at my parents. 0
"These parents are too much, right? It's bad enough they favor boys over girls, but now they treat their daughter like a servant to her brother?" 0
"If a daughter gets into a prestigious university and her parents don't reward her, that's one thing, but to morally blackmail her is disgusting!" 0
"Tsk tsk tsk, having parents like this is really unfortunate!" 0
Mom was provoked by my words and suddenly jumped up, shaking off Dad's hand. 0
Dad stumbled and lost his balance, hitting the back of his head on the ground and passing out immediately. 0
My parents were rushed to the hospital by emergency services. 0
The doctor conducted a full examination on Dad but found no issues. 0
"Strange, he shouldn't be unconscious for this long." 0
"We can't explain it either; you should just stay with him for now." 0
Mom cried even harder: "It's all your fault! If you had listened to us earlier, your dad wouldn't have gotten hurt!" 0
I sneered: "What does his situation have to do with me?" 0

"You clearly pushed his hand away, and that's why he fell." 0
Mom glared at me fiercely, looking like she wanted to eat me alive. 0
An hour later, my brother finally arrived at the hospital. 0
Mom was stunned when she saw him. 0
He looked scruffy, with deep-set eyes, messy hair, and was as thin as a monkey. 0
"Son, what happened to you?" 0
He coughed a couple of times and said, "I've been busy catching up on my experiments, so I haven't been resting well." 0
Mom said with concern, "You need to take care of your health; don't wear yourself out." 0
He nodded and asked, "How's Dad doing?" 0
Mom sighed, "The doctor said there's nothing wrong, but he just won't wake up. We don't know what's going on." 0
My brother frowned, "How much is this going to cost?" 0
Mom whispered, "Why don't you talk to the school and see if you can get back the previous Research Funding?" 0
He frowned again, "That money has already been spent. But don't worry; I'll find a way to get some funds." 0
Only then did Mom feel reassured and nod in agreement. 0
