Gu Yu's pupils suddenly constricted, her face instantly turning pale, her lips trembling slightly, yet she couldn't utter a single word. Lin Wei's words were like a sharp blade, piercing through her heart and shattering her facade.
"What's wrong? Did I hit a sore spot?" Lin Wei looked at Gu Yu's expression, a surge of vindictive pleasure rising within her. She stepped closer to Gu Yu, lowering her voice as she said, "You're just a pitiful creature. What right do you have to compete with us brothers? I advise you to be sensible and leave Ziran quickly, or else..."
Lin Wei deliberately paused, her gaze sweeping over Gu Yu's pale face, her tone filled with menace.
Gu Yu took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. She raised her head and met Lin Wei's eyes directly, her gaze filled with anger and disappointment.
"Lin Wei, why are you doing this?"
Gu Yu's voice was somewhat hoarse but exceptionally firm. "Spreading rumors and sowing discord—this is what you call love?"
Lin Wei felt a twinge of guilt under Gu Yu's stare but quickly masked it with a cold laugh. "Don't play innocent. I'm doing this because of you! If it weren't for your appearance, how could Ziran..."
Before Lin Wei could finish her sentence, they were interrupted by hurried footsteps.
"Gu Yu!"
The voices of Zhou Ziran and Zhou Ziqi rang out simultaneously as they hurried onto the rooftop. Upon seeing Gu Yu and Lin Wei in confrontation, both wore expressions of surprise.
Seeing Zhou Ziran and Zhou Ziqi, Gu Yu could no longer suppress the grievances and anger in her heart; tears streamed down her face.
"Ziran, Ziqi, please let me explain..." Gu Yu choked on her words, wanting to clarify but unsure where to begin.
Zhou Ziran quickly walked up to Gu Yu, shielding her behind him, his gaze sharp as he looked at Lin Wei. "Lin Wei, what are you up to this time?"
Seeing Zhou Ziran and Zhou Ziqi appear, Lin Wei's eyes flashed with a hint of panic, but she quickly regained her composure. She raised the phone in her hand and feigned calmness. "I just want you to see the true colors of certain people."
"True colors?" Zhou Ziqi stepped forward, his tone icy. "What rumors are you spreading now?"
Lin Wei sneered and held the phone out in front of Zhou Ziran. "Take a look for yourself; photos don’t lie."
Zhou Ziran took the phone and glanced at the photo, his brows slightly furrowing.
In the picture, he and Zhou Ziqi were standing side by side, with the background clearly showing the sofa in Gu Yu's living room. This photo was taken a few years ago when they had just moved next door to Gu Yu's house, and the two families often visited each other, maintaining a close relationship.
"What does this photo prove?" Zhou Ziran looked at Lin Wei in confusion.
Seeing that Zhou Ziran was not reacting as she expected, Lin Wei felt a bit anxious. She pointed at the background in the photo and said loudly, "Don't you find it strange? Why does Gu Yu's house have a photo of you two brothers? Moreover, this photo looks like it was taken at least a few years ago, back when Gu Yu hadn't even come to your house yet. How could she possibly have this photo?"
Zhou Ziran and Zhou Ziqi exchanged glances, both seeing a hint of doubt in each other's eyes.
Seeing that the two were finally starting to waver, Lin Wei felt a surge of satisfaction. She continued to embellish her words. "Let me tell you, Gu Yu is not an orphan at all; she is not your biological sister! She is getting close to you just to..."
"Enough!" Zhou Ziran abruptly interrupted Lin Wei, his voice filled with anger. "Lin Wei, you need to be responsible for what you say! Don't think I don't know what you're thinking; you're just jealous of Gu Yu and trying to sow discord!"
Zhou Ziqi also darkened his expression and coldly said, "Lin Wei, how did I never notice how malicious you are before? If you keep spouting nonsense, don't blame me for being rude!"
Lin Wei was taken aback by the words of Zhou Ziran and Zhou Ziqi. She never expected them to defend her for Gu Yu, and her heart was suddenly filled with anger and resentment.
"I'm speaking the truth! If you don't believe me, you can ask Gu Yu!" Lin Wei shouted hysterically, pointing at Gu Yu. "Gu Yu, do you dare to tell them who you really are?"
Gu Yu watched the scene unfold before her, feeling a mix of emotions. She knew that while Lin Wei's words were vicious, they were not entirely without merit. Her background had always been a thorn in her heart, and she was afraid to tell Zhou Ziran and Zhou Ziqi the truth for fear of losing them.
"I..." Gu Yu opened her mouth but didn't know what to say.
Seeing Gu Yu's hesitant expression, Zhou Ziran immediately understood something. He took Gu Yu's hand firmly and said, "I believe in you."
