I got up, washed up, and then had breakfast.
My life seems to have changed little.
But I know that some things are already different.
I am no longer the Jiang Huan I used to be.
I am no longer a puppet controlled by Han Wen.
I have my own thoughts now.
I have my own will.
I will not be manipulated by anyone anymore.
"Your Highness, the Emperor is here."
"Yes."
The Gu Worm was writhing inside me.
I clutched my stomach, shaking all over from the pain.
Biqiong came over, supporting me with a worried expression and asked, "My Lady, are you alright?"
I shook my head and gritted my teeth, saying, "I'm fine."
Biqiong stayed with me for a while before leaving for something else.
After she left, I stared blankly at the beam of the room.
Later on, Han Wen arrived.
She brought a bowl of sweet soup and looked at me with a smile.
" Huan, I brought you something good."
I stared at the sweet soup in her hand for a long time before slowly smiling.
"Thank you, Your Majesty."
Han Wen sat beside me and looked at me for a long time before saying with a smile, " Huan, do you remember?"
"This is your favorite sweet soup."
"In the past, you always said that I made it for you and that you would drink it for a lifetime."
At her words, I was taken aback.
Sweet soup that I liked?
I couldn't help but laugh.
"Your Majesty, that was in the past."
"Now, I don't like it anymore."
Han Wen's expression stiffened.
She furrowed her brows and stared at me for a long time before smiling again.
" Huan, you still resent me, don't you?"
I shook my head and said calmly, "No."
"Your Majesty, why would I blame you?"
"You are my Wife Ruler; whatever you ask me to do, I will do."
"How could I possibly blame you?"
Han Wen narrowed her eyes and stared at me for a long time before she smiled.
" Huan, you've changed."
I shook my head and replied with a smile, "It's not that I've changed."
"It's that Your Majesty has changed."
"You are no longer the Han Wen of the past."
"You are now the Emperor."
Han Wen stared at me for a long time without speaking.
Her expression was quite unpleasant.
Later on, Han Wen left.
After she walked out, I sat on the soft couch in a daze.
Biqiong sighed and took away the sweet soup.
After she left, I continued to stare blankly at the beam of the room.
In truth, it wasn't that I no longer enjoyed sweet soup.
I just didn't want to be influenced by Han Wen anymore.
Jiang Zhizhu burst in with red eyes, shouting, "My dear brother!"
He hurriedly ran inside, heading straight for the inner room.
But when he saw me standing there completely unharmed, he froze.
It seemed he hadn't expected me to be unscathed at all.
Han Wen also walked in.
The moment she saw me, she too was taken aback.
It seemed she hadn't anticipated that I would be perfectly fine either.
Jiang Zhizhu quickly regained his composure, smiled mischievously, and said in a sweet voice, "I thought something had happened to you!"
"But here you are, completely unharmed."
"It really isn't a big deal after all."
As he spoke, he hooked his arm around Han Wen's and leaned into her embrace.
His demeanor seemed deliberately intended to irritate me in front of Han Wen.
Yet strangely enough, I felt no turmoil within myself at all.
I am actually not sad at all.
Han Wen furrowed her brows, staring at me with a puzzled expression and asked, "What’s going on?"
"How did you make this place a mess?"
Hearing this, I smiled.
A mess?
Where?
I looked around and found no place that was in disarray.
Seeing this, Jiang Zhizhu smiled slightly and said softly, "Brother, you really don’t know."
"The most valuable thing in this palace is this piece of jade."
"But you broke it."
As he spoke, he pointed to the shattered jade pendant on the floor.
Upon seeing the pendant, Han Wen's expression changed instantly.
She furrowed her brows and asked sharply, "Who broke it?"
"Was it you?"
I stared at the jade pendant for a long time and suddenly remembered something.
This pendant was a gift from her mother when Han Wen was made Empress.
It was her treasured jade.
Seeing that I remained silent, Jiang Zhizhu smiled again and continued,
"Brother, there really isn’t anything valuable in this palace."
"This piece of jade is barely worth mentioning."
"What a pity that you broke it."
Han Wen's expression grew increasingly grim.
She furrowed her brows and asked sternly, "Jiang Huan, was it you who broke it?"
I came back to my senses and chuckled lightly.
