Rao Jie felt a bit lost inside; she couldn't quite articulate what she was feeling. It was just that as she lowered her head and carefully flipped through her draft notebook, the more she looked, the more alarmed she became. The impact was even greater than when she first saw the notebook that day.
Upon closer inspection, she realized that the first knowledge point was exactly where she had gotten stuck yesterday. This... was clearly something that had been created last night.
The twenty printed pages of A4 paper contained information about plans, progress, question types, and schedules. He had even anticipated her weak points and potential mistakes, outlining his guidance on the paper one by one.
Not only that, but there were also beautifully written notes in black ink interspersed throughout, with additional annotations thoughtfully written in the blank spaces beside them.
This was a perfect teaching note—a labor of love specifically tailored for her. The knowledge became simple and easy to understand; as long as she followed the steps, she could gradually absorb it. However... it felt as if it lacked a soul.
Rao Jie’s heart raced; she felt an impulse rising within her. This impulse became uncontrollable when she heard the sound of a car starting outside. She rushed out, wanting to tell Wu Rong that she didn’t mind, that she hadn’t avoided him—she was just a little shy.
She wanted him to be her teacher, to guide her personally rather than through those cold, lifeless words on paper. But by the time she burst outside, Wu Rong's car had already driven away.
Rao Jie stood foolishly at the door, holding her draft notebook, unsure of what to do. She could have sent a message, but once she picked up her phone, Rao Jie didn’t know how to resolve the situation.
The messaging interface still displayed Wu Rong's apology message. Rao Jie forced a smile and realized she had forgotten to reply. After thinking for a moment, she sent back a simple "Hmm."
It was somewhat aimless, and sure enough, there was no response.
At noon... Wu Rong did not come back for lunch. Rao Jie knew his general schedule; he hadn’t had any classes since ten o'clock.
But he didn't come back.
Rao Jie waited weakly until one o'clock, finally giving up. Who was hiding from whom?
After lunch, she stared blankly at the materials Wu Rong had given her, unable to focus at all. It was a struggle to study; she didn't want to let Wu Rong's efforts go to waste, but nothing seemed to work. Rao Jie even found herself nostalgically recalling the times when Wu Rong had sternly scolded her during their review sessions.
Realizing this, Rao Jie helplessly tapped her head. She disliked the current atmosphere and secretly vowed that when Wu Rong returned in the evening, she would make things clear and restore their previous dynamic.
...
"Brother Rong? Why are you eating at school? If I had known, I would have taken you out! You don't have class this afternoon; why not go home?"
Ye Ming was startled when he texted Wu Rong to find out he was still at school. He hurried over, thinking something might be wrong with him.
"I can go home if I want to, and I can stay here if I want to," Wu Rong replied without looking up.
"Wow, that tone is off!" Something must be bothering him!
Ye Ming was undoubtedly Wu Rong's best friend and knew him better than anyone else. Just a glance at Wu Rong's tone and demeanor was enough for Ye Ming to understand what was going on.
He looked pitiful, clearly frustrated with no outlet for his feelings!
"What's wrong? If something's bothering you, tell me so I can cheer you up," Ye Ming said excitedly.
Wu Rong raised his head and shot Ye Ming a glare. "If there's nothing going on, just get lost!"
