Theater Backstage
Xu Chengyang emerged from the restroom, dragging the cumbersome long dress behind him. In the hallway, he immediately spotted Fu Weiheng holding a violin case, dressed in formal attire, looking handsome yet somewhat gloomy. Following closely behind him was Su Wan, her head down as she clutched the wide hem of her dress like a timid little follower.
Xu Chengyang paused for a moment, wondering if they had just had an argument.
As they approached, Xu Chengyang stepped forward to greet Fu Weiheng: “Hi, Deity.”
Fu Weiheng nodded slightly and silently entered the Lounge to tune his instrument.
The bustling Lounge erupted into uncontrollable gasps and screams at Fu Weiheng’s sudden appearance—
“Ahhh, is that Fu Weiheng?!”
“It is him! Why is he in the backstage? Does he have a performance tonight??”
“No way, he has been retired for so many years…”
“Isn’t he holding a violin?!”
“Oh my gosh, he’s so handsome it’s blinding…”
“Shut your mouth; he’s with Su Wan.”
…
On the other side, Xu Chengyang quickly pulled Su Wan in front of him and whispered, “What happened? Did you two have a fight? There’s such a low pressure…”
Bridge hurriedly approached, asking, "Where's Mr. Ye?"
Su Wan was confused and replied, "Mr. Ye said he had something to do and asked Deity to come instead..."
"What the heck! Deity can play the violin too?" Xu Chengyang exclaimed in surprise. When his gaze shifted to Fu Weiheng, who remained unfazed, he quickly lowered his voice, still unable to hide his astonishment. "If Deity can play the violin, why didn't you ask Deity yesterday?"
She had just found out about it...
"I guess Deity is upset," Xu Chengyang continued, stroking his chin. "His pride must have been hurt."
Su Wan and Bridge looked bewildered.
Xu Chengyang rolled his eyes. "Seriously, are you that clueless? If your girlfriend is in trouble, the first person you think of shouldn't be another man. Would you be happy if it were you?"
Su Wan suddenly realized that Deity was jealous...
"I just found out he could play the violin too..." Su Wan felt innocent. "And besides, isn't that his brother-in-law...?"
Xu Chengyang clicked his tongue twice, a look of experience on his face. "For men, any man other than themselves is just another man, even if it's their own son."
Su Wan: "..."
Bridge nudged her. "Go comfort him; he's a man after all."
At that moment, the brother-in-law Su Wan mentioned sent a WeChat message—
[Ivan: I have something urgent to attend to. Neil went instead; don't worry, his violin skills are nearly as good as the cello.]
Su Wan felt an inexplicable flutter in her heart. She put away her phone and took a few steps to stand beside him, cautiously calling out, "Neil..."
Fu Weiheng remained silent, expression unchanged as he continued to apply the fragrance to Gongzi.
"Are you jealous..." Su Wan suppressed a laugh, reaching out with two fingers to tug at the hem of his suit, giving it a gentle shake.
Fu Weiheng cast her a faint glance.
Su Wan took a step closer, tiptoeing to whisper in his ear, "Neil, I love you."
He froze for a moment, his motion of applying the fragrance pausing as he felt her warm breath against his ear. The air around him was filled with her refreshing scent, and he could feel the softness of her body brushing against his arm. Looking at the dimples that appeared when she smiled, Fu Weiheng felt an unexpected heat rise within him; at that moment, all he wanted was to pin her against the wall and kiss her fiercely.
However, seeing the crowd around them made him think that such actions would be inappropriate. So he continued his task without showing any change in demeanor and said, "Well then, remember to put in some effort when you kiss me next time."
Su Wan: "..."
So calm??
Xu Chengyang, observing Fu Weiheng's slightly relaxed expression from the side, immediately stepped forward with a grin and suggested, "Deity, should we rehearse together? We still have some time."
Fu Weiheng casually plucked a string on the instrument and replied, "No need. Just play as you usually do during practice; I'll watch and coordinate." With that, he turned and sat down on the chair in front of the makeup table.
"Truly amazing, Guan Guan!" Xu Chengyang exclaimed excitedly while shaking Su Wan's shoulder. "What should I do? I can't stay calm! I'm actually going to perform on stage with my idol! I can't believe I'm part of his comeback debut!"
Bridge: "..."
Dizzy from being shaken, Su Wan: "..."
Time passed second by second, and the program had reached its fifteenth segment. The event organizer hurried backstage, urging everyone along.
The organizer was a member of the student council, specifically that guy with the WeChat ID Mendeljin, whose full name was Yang Erjin. He was quite close to Xu Chengyang, so he could be considered one of their own. When he rushed to the entrance of the Lounge and saw Fu Weiheng in formal attire standing next to Su Wan, holding a Viola, he rubbed his eyes in disbelief to confirm he wasn't mistaken and couldn't help but exclaim, "No way!"
Xu Chengyang excitedly rushed over to Yang Erjin, his voice trembling with excitement: "You’re not mistaken! You’re not mistaken! You’re not mistaken! Important things need to be said three times. He’s here to play the viola for us, haha!"
Yang Erjin asked, "What happened to Amin?"
Xu Chengyang replied, "Amin fell yesterday and is currently in the hospital. I had to find Fu Weiheng to fill in at the last minute."
Yang Erjin scoffed, "Xu Chengyang, you’re so inconsiderate! You actually used Orchestral Flower to lure Fu Weiheng into being your backup?"
Xu Chengyang glared at him, "What are you talking about? That’s my future brother-in-law; what’s wrong with using him?"
Yang Erjin chuckled, "Come on, you’re getting a bit too cocky."
Xu Chengyang laughed lewdly, "I bet even Old Charlie wouldn’t expect Fu Weiheng to go on stage. Let me give him a big surprise, haha!"
Yang Erjin's eyebrows twitched as he tapped her forehead with the program list: "Hurry up and get to the front; it’s almost your turn."
In a good mood, Xu Chengyang smiled and gave an OK gesture before heading inside to call Su Wan and Fu Weiheng.
