After the party ended, all the performers needed to take a collective bow on stage as per tradition. Su Wan stood at the back row, almost blending into the crowd. Not fond of such attention, she quietly slipped back to the backstage lounge while all the actors were on stage.
As she exited through the backstage security door, Su Wan looked up and saw a tall figure slowly walking towards her. She paused for a moment but was not surprised, stepping forward to greet him. "Mr. Fu, sorry to keep you waiting."
Fu Weiheng silently curved his lips into a smile, reached out to ruffle her hair, and without caring about the people passing by in the hallway, pulled her into his embrace. In a calm voice, he said, "Guan Guan, you really... surprised me."
His deep voice carried a hint of surprise mixed with helplessness. Su Wan nuzzled against his comfortable suit fabric, feeling an immense sense of ease wash over her. She inhaled his familiar and refreshing scent but remained silent with a smile.
"Ahem..."
Suddenly, a light cough came from behind them. Su Wan peeked out from his embrace and noticed Xu Chengyang and Yao Ye standing behind Fu Weiheng, both of them smiling knowingly with their lips pressed together. "Guan Guan..."
Fu Weiheng casually shifted to the side and whispered to her, "I’ll go to the restroom."
Su Wan nodded and watched him walk away. Facing the two in front of her, she felt a bit shy and tucked her hair behind her ear. "Um... don’t you need to go on stage for the bow?"
Yao Ye couldn’t hide his excitement. "Wow, Guan Guan, you were so incredibly cool! When did you learn to play the drums?"
Xu Chengyang came over and took her hand, patting it. "I never expected my Sumerian had such skills to charm girls!"
"I learned it for fun in high school with Qin Mu..." Su Wan felt a bit embarrassed; after all, it wasn’t exactly a skill worthy of boasting about.
Xu Chengyang, feeling quite affectionate, leaned in and rubbed his face against her ample chest. "Hmm~ Sumerian, I'm going to love you to death..."
Su Wan was speechless.
Yao Ye, unable to watch any longer, reached out and grabbed Xu Chengyang by the collar, lifting him up and tossing him aside. "By the way, Guan Guan, we have a gathering after this. You should come along."
"A gathering..." Su Wan found it difficult to continue. She preferred quiet and didn't enjoy socializing. Over the years, she had only attended one gathering in the department, which was the welcome banquet after the enrollment ceremony three years ago.
Xu Chengyang became serious and interjected before she could speak. "Come on, Guan Guan. You haven't gone to any gatherings for the past few years. This year is your graduation; are you really not planning to go? Everyone in the department looks forward to seeing you there!"
Yao Ye chimed in, encouraging her. "Yeah, Guan Guan, just go! It would be even more fun if Deity comes along too."
Hearing them say this made Su Wan feel quite embarrassed. Her classmates had always taken care of her; they had helped her when something happened last time. Refusing the gathering again seemed really inconsiderate. After pondering for a while, she said, "Okay, I'll go. But about Deity..."
She was about to suggest not inviting Fu Weiheng since he also disliked noisy places when Xu Chengyang suddenly spotted Fu Weiheng coming out of the restroom and immediately ran over to discuss the gathering with him.
Su Wan didn't have time to react before she saw Fu Weiheng nodding in agreement and then stepping closer to poke her forehead. "What are you daydreaming about?"
Xu Chengyang quickly returned and said, "Guan Guan, Deity, we're going to ask the class monitor about the gathering location and will message you later."
With that, he grabbed Yao Ye and swiftly disappeared down the hallway.
Su Wan was somewhat incredulous. "You... you're going?"
"Mm." Fu Weiheng glanced at her and asked, "Don't you want me to go?"
Su Wan mumbled, "Don't you dislike crowds..."
"It's different." His expression remained calm, and there was no hint of emotion when he said this, "They are your friends and classmates."
Su Wan paused for a moment, looking at Fu Weiheng's handsome features, and suddenly understood.
Deity: Is this... love for the house extends to the crows?
At that moment, the actors on stage had finished their performance, and everyone rushed into the Lounge. Fu Weiheng looked at the continuous stream of people ahead, slightly furrowing his brows. He gently turned to shield Su Wan by his side and said, "Let's go."
