Fu Weiheng tightened his grip on her arm, resting his chin on the top of her head and nodding, "Mm..."
"Are you tired?" The dim yellow light under the eaves cast a faint glow beside him, and Su Wan could vaguely see the bloodshot veins in his eyes, feeling a pang of heartache as she said, "Neil, don't go back. Come inside and rest."
Fu Weiheng chuckled lightly and kissed her forehead, "Do you want to sleep with me? Hmm?"
Su Wan blushed and pinched him, "..."
Fu Weiheng winced in pain and laughed, "That's not how it works." He lowered his head and kissed her, lingering on her lips for a while before pulling away. He said, "Go inside and sleep. I'll come pick you up tomorrow."
Su Wan hesitated for a moment, glancing at the cold road outside, "Drive slowly and text me when you get home."
"Okay." Fu Weiheng let his arms drop to hold her hands gently, "I'll wait until I see you go in before I leave."
Su Wan paused for a second, fearing that if they stayed like this too long he wouldn't be able to get home. She turned to unlock the door and as she stepped inside, she looked back to say goodbye, "Neil, good night."
After Fu Weiheng returned a soft "good night," the gate of Small Villa clicked shut with a gentle sound, separating their figures. In the quiet suburban night, the occasional chirp of cicadas could be heard. Fu Weiheng stood at the gate for a long time, listening to the night insects' calls. He smiled faintly and turned to drive away in his Cayenne.
——
The next day was the wedding. The weather was perfect with clear skies and crisp autumn air.
The bridal procession included six spacious Bentleys following Fu Weiheng's Cayenne, making quite an impressive display as they drove from the apartment to Small Villa.
The groomsmen were Ye Yinhua, Jiang Zhi Yan, and... suddenly reappearing after being away on a case for some time, Shen Junshu Officer Shen.
As for Officer Shen, he was essentially appointed by himself as a groomsman. A few days before the wedding, amidst his busy schedule, Fu Weiheng happened to remember this elusive friend and made a quick call saying, "I'm getting married in a couple of days."
Upon hearing this news, Shen Junshu couldn't resist joining in on the festivities. He immediately requested a day off from the police station and volunteered to be a groomsman. Mr. Fu, considering the potential challenges during the bride's pickup due to difficult bridesmaids, felt that having a strong ally would be crucial. Thus, Mr. Fu nodded in agreement—
"Sure, I really need you."
Shen Junshu naturally had no idea of Fu Weiheng's inner intentions. He thought that the best man had to be him, so early in the morning on the wedding day, Officer Shen happily followed the groom to pick up the bride.
Upon arriving at the Small Villa, the person who opened the door was Qin Yan. The group of men outside had expected a bridesmaid to answer the door and were ready to make a fuss. However, when the door opened, out came a scowling Qin Yan...
Qin Yan had been busy with work at the Yan Chuan branch until late last night and was dragged out of bed early this morning by Su Yue to accompany Su Wan at her wedding. He was still filled with morning grumpiness and hadn’t found an outlet for it yet. Seeing Fu Weiheng, who was impeccably dressed and handsome, he immediately felt an urge to vent his frustration.
So he swung open the door and then turned back to close it again, saying, "The bride isn't ready yet. Wait."
Fu Weiheng raised an eyebrow and looked at the tall figure standing in front of him. He wasn't in a hurry and waited with the other groomsmen for over twenty minutes while holding the bouquet.
Shen Junshu, who generally lacked patience in certain aspects, felt increasingly restless as the sun rose higher and temperatures climbed. He stepped forward a few paces to Qin Yan and said, "I say, brother-in-law, it's been twenty minutes already. Can we go in now?"
Qin Yan leaned against the doorframe playing a game, not even lifting his eyelids: "No."
"Hey! Are you doing this on purpose?" Shen Junshu was getting anxious. Just as he was about to force the door open, a loud female voice came from inside—
"Brother! Is my sister-in-law's groom here yet?" Then the door was pulled open from inside, revealing Qin Mu in a smoky gray bridesmaid dress with her long hair tied up and light makeup on. She looked playful and cute. Upon seeing the group outside, she paused in surprise. "Oh? Brother-in-law, why didn't you make any noise when you arrived?"
Shen Junshu was stunned for a moment before shifting his gaze to Qin Yan's somewhat stiff expression and gloomily retorted, "Didn't you say the bride wasn't ready?"
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone present, including Fu Weiheng, Jiang Zhiyan, and Ye Yinhua, turned their attention to Qin Yan.
Qin Yan cleared his throat lightly, avoiding everyone's gaze. He straightened his posture and glanced at Qin Mu's short dress before asking blandly, "Why are you wearing such a short dress? Are you getting married or is Su Wan getting married?"
Shen Junshu's gaze immediately shifted back to Qin Mu as he scrutinized her from head to toe.
Qin Mu felt extremely embarrassed by Qin Yan's comment and shot him an angry glare: "What does it have to do with you!"
Qin Yan scoffed dismissively, put away his phone, and went into the house.
Shen Junshu glanced at the departing figure, stepped beside Qin Mu, and smiled, "Don't listen to your brother's nonsense. You look beautiful in that outfit."
Shen Junshu already had a stunning face, and with that smile, he looked both charming and mischievous. Qin Mu felt her cheeks flush and her heart race. She tossed her head arrogantly and huffed twice, "I know!"
With Qin Yan gone, Fu Weiheng and the others confidently stepped inside. Jiang Zhi Yan looked around the festively decorated house and called toward the bedroom, "The groom has arrived."
In the next moment, a door twenty meters straight ahead swung open, and three people emerged in a grand manner.
Except for Yang Erjin, Xu Chengyang and Yao Ye were dressed in the same bridesmaid outfits as Qin Mu. Xu Chengyang smiled as he closed the door behind them and walked up to Fu Weiheng, waving, "Hello, Deity."
Fu Weiheng remained calm in place, already anticipating what was about to happen. He nodded slightly, "Go ahead."
Yao Ye approached after a moment of thought and said, "Deity, we're all civilized people here, so we won't make it difficult for you. Just express your love for Guan Guan, and we'll let you in to see her."
Xu Chengyang chimed in, "Yes, it's up to you how you do it."
Fu Weiheng pondered for a moment and asked, "Do you have a musical instrument?"
"We do!" Xu Chengyang turned to Yang Erjin behind him. "Xiao Jinjing, go get my 'son'!"
Two minutes later, Yang Erjin came out of the bedroom holding a violin case and handed it to Fu Weiheng.
Fu Weiheng took the violin, quickly tuned it up, and then played a beautiful rendition of "Amazing Grace."
Everyone fell silent and quietly enjoyed the performance.
As the piece concluded, Mr. Fu stepped forward a couple of paces toward the closed door and spoke steadily, "Guan Guan, one year ago today I had 'improper thoughts' about you. One year later today, I want to walk with you in marriage until death do us part."
Shen Junshu gasped, "…so amazing!"
Fu Weiheng shot a cool glance over.
A second later, Xu Chengyang and Yao Ye clapped their hands, stepping aside to clear a path. The former gestured in a welcoming manner, "Very well, let’s go together."
Fu Weiheng set down the guqin and picked up the bouquet again, nodding lightly to the two of them, "Thanks."
He then strode forward and pushed open the door.
Jiang Yun and Su Yue stood by the door, smiling as they pointed toward Su Wan, who was sitting on the edge of the bed.
Su Wan sat there in a flawless white wedding dress specially handcrafted by Mu Qing in Italy, the only one of its kind in the world. The upper part was made of lace formed by flower shapes, with a few pieces of pure handmade embroidery adorning the neckline above her collarbone. The back was open, and from the waist down it flowed to the ground in layers of light tulle. The outermost layer was embellished with white artificial feathers. The entire wedding dress perfectly outlined Su Wan's slender figure, and its pure snow-white color accentuated her skin like white jade.
Her long hair was slightly curled, loosely resting on her shoulders, with a veil trailing down to the floor-length skirt. Her delicate makeup made her look stunningly beautiful.
Fu Weiheng stood still for about two minutes, quietly gazing at her with his deep-set eyes never leaving her.
Su Wan felt shy under his gaze and lowered her eyes.
Jiang Yun couldn't help but laugh, breaking the silence: "Neil, stop standing there like a fool; go take your bride's hand."
Fu Weiheng snapped back to reality and walked slowly toward her. He looked down at her for a moment, wanting to lean down and kiss her but realizing the two elders behind him. Ultimately, he took her hand and said, "Wife, let’s go home."
She looked up and smiled, "Okay."
Successfully taking his bride from the bedroom to the front of the Cayenne car, everyone showered them with flowers, joyfully celebrating this couple.
It is often said that musicians understand romance best, and this statement couldn't be more accurate.
The wedding venue is the largest Holy Garden Grand Hall in Yan Chuan. This hall not only boasts exquisite and luxurious interior decorations but also features a spacious lawn behind it. The wedding ceremony takes place inside the hall, while the wedding banquet is held outside, by the lakeside. The clear lake sparkles under the golden sunlight, adding a beautiful and romantic touch to this grand celebration.
This wedding invites many guests; it can be considered both Fu Su's banquet and a grand celebration within the Classical Music Circle. In addition to the friends and family of the newlyweds, Fu Weiheng has also invited most of the artists and musicians from the Classical Music Circle. While waiting for the wedding ceremony outside the hall, renowned musicians from around the world can be seen everywhere.
Thus, it is evident that Fu Weiheng's status within the Classical Music Circle is not to be underestimated.
---
Before the ceremony begins, Fu Weiheng is busy welcoming guests outside, while Su Wan waits in the Lounge of the hall.
Qin Mu seems to have been called by Shen Junshu for assistance, while Xu Chengyang and Yang Erjin take Su Wan's place to greet their college classmates attending the banquet. The elders are also entertaining friends and relatives. So in this large Lounge, only Su Wan and Yao Ye remain, sitting across from each other in silence—
Su Wan: "…"
Yao Ye: "…"
Yao Ye yawns again: "Guan Guan, I'm so tired... It's not even my wedding, yet I feel exhausted..."
Su Wan glances at the time and says, "You should take a nap; I don't have much to do right now."
Yao Ye hesitates for a moment and then waves her hand: "Forget it; I can't bear to leave you here alone."
Su Wan smiles: "Go ahead; it might get busier later. I can read a book."
In the end, Yao Ye is persuaded by Su Wan to lie down on the sofa bed next door.
After reading for a short while, Su Wan hears a knock on the Lounge door. Someone gently pushes it open a crack, and before she sees who it is, she hears a voice: "Guan Guan..."
"Come in," Su Wan replies, closing her book and placing it on the table as she smiles to welcome the person entering.
Wen He turned around after closing the door and was momentarily taken aback, "Guan Guan, you look so beautiful in your wedding dress!"
Su Wan glanced down at her wedding dress and smiled, "You would look even prettier in a wedding dress."
Wen He chuckled, "Me? No way, I don't even know where my husband is..."
Su Wan replied, "He will show up eventually."
Wen He said, "I'll take that as a good omen!"
After chatting for a while, there was another knock on the door, and in came her university classmates.
For the next hour, Su Wan began to greet the friends and family who came to visit. Wen He quietly sat beside her in support.
Finally, after sending off the last visitor, Su Wan tiredly rubbed her neck and turned to Wen He with a light smile, "I'm sorry for making you stay with me for so long."
"What are you talking about? I was bored out there anyway," Wen He said as she came over to help tidy Su Wan's hair, enviously adding, "Guan Guan, you are really lucky."
Su Wan replied, "You will be too."
The door to the lounge was pushed open again, and both of them turned to look. Fu Weiheng walked in, impeccably dressed in a sharp suit.
Wen He respectfully greeted him, "Mr. Fu."
He closed the door behind him and walked over, nodding at Wen He before squatting down in front of Su Wan and gently asking, "Are you tired?"
Wen He smiled lightly and discreetly stepped out of the lounge.
As she closed the door behind her and turned to head towards the restroom, she unexpectedly bumped into someone passing by.
He was a sturdy man, and although his strength was not great, he still managed to bump her shoulder painfully. Wen He instinctively raised her hand to rub the spot that had been hit, preparing to apologize when she heard a clear male voice above her.
"I'm sorry."
Wen He found the voice somewhat familiar and was about to say "It's okay," but as she looked up and recognized the person, it turned into, "It's you?"
Qin Yan turned his head and was taken aback when he saw the woman whose height reached his shoulder.
Inside the Lounge
Fu Weiheng raised his hand to brush aside her loose hair and asked, "Are you hungry?"
Su Wan nodded honestly, "A little."
Fu Weiheng squeezed her arm gently, "Do you want to eat something?"
His grip was just right, alleviating her discomfort. She shook her head, "No, the wedding dress is too tight; eating will make my belly look bigger."
He said, "Just hold on a bit longer."
As the time arrived, all the guests were seated in an orderly manner in the grand hall, waiting for the ceremony to begin.
In the spacious hall, pleasant chimes rang out as the band played a romantic wedding march. The grand doors slowly opened, and Fu Weiheng stood at the altar facing the entrance, tall and poised, quietly waiting for the bride's arrival along with everyone present.
With her veil originally draped behind her now covering her eyes, Su Wan linked arms with Old Qin and slowly made her way down the red carpet towards Fu Weiheng.
At the moment Old Qin placed Su Wan's hand into Fu Weiheng's palm, it felt as if something filled Fu Weiheng's heart instantly; he sensed that his life was blissful and complete.
The pastor began the wedding ceremony, looking at the beautiful couple in front of him. He asked, "Mr. Fu Weiheng, do you take Ms. Su Wan to be your wife, to live with her according to the teachings of the Bible, to become one with her in the presence of God, to love her, comfort her, honor her, and protect her as you love yourself? In sickness and in health, in wealth and in poverty, will you remain faithful to her until you depart this world?"
Fu Weiheng glanced at the Lord Jesus nailed to the cross behind the pastor and lovingly turned to his beloved beside him, saying, "I do."
The pastor continued, "Ms. Su Wan, do you take Mr. Fu Weiheng to be your husband, to live with him according to the teachings of the Bible, to become one with him in the presence of God, to love him, comfort him, honor him, and protect him as you love yourself? In sickness and in health, in wealth and in poverty, will you remain faithful to him until you depart this world?"
Su Wan turned to face him and smiled gently, "I do."
The pastor said, "Please exchange rings."
With heartfelt blessings and hopes from everyone present, they recited their vows, exchanged wedding rings, and embraced tightly.
Su Wan looked at the wedding ring slowly being placed on her ring finger, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Dad, look, we are married."
—Fu Weiheng, do you know? Malinski once said that inexperienced first love is charming, but love that withstands trials is priceless. For me, meeting you—my first love—is both charming and priceless. As spring turns to autumn, may the years ahead be spent with you.
—Su Wan, knowing you and loving you are the three most precious things in my life. A lifetime is but a fleeting moment; from now on, we shall only part in death and never in life. (THE END, THE FOLLOWING ARE EXTRA CHAPTERS)
