Qi Feng and Lin Xue spent a wonderful day at the Yogurt Festival, and the night in Lhasa felt even more tranquil. They sat on the hillside in front of Potala Palace, gazing at the starry sky, leaning against each other.
Qi Feng pointed to the brightest star in the sky and softly said, "That is the Big Dipper, known as 'Zongxing' in Tibetan, which means 'the palace in the sky.' Legend has it that the Tibetan people came to Earth from here."
Lin Xue looked up at the stars, her eyes sparkling with a dreamy light. She quietly asked, "Do you believe in these legends?"
Qi Feng smiled slightly and replied, "I'm not sure if I believe, but I do believe in the Tibetan people's reverence for the stars and their appreciation for life."
They fell silent for a moment before Lin Xue suddenly said, "You've been talking about your understanding of the stars today. What about this land? What do you know about its history and culture?"
Qi Feng looked at Lin Xue, seeming a bit hesitant. He gently sighed and said, "I know my understanding of this place is far from enough, but I will strive to learn and understand this land, and to understand you."
Lin Xue felt Qi Feng's sincerity. She leaned on his shoulder and softly said, "I won't pressure you. As long as you're willing, we can learn slowly together and understand each other gradually."
Qi Feng held Lin Xue's hand tightly, his eyes filled with hope for the future. He whispered, "Let's learn together, understand together, and protect this land together, safeguarding our love for each other."
The atmosphere between them grew more intimate. Lin Xue suddenly remembered the murals in Potala Palace and asked, "You mentioned before that you saw something in the murals? You said your background is similar to that story. What did you mean?"
Qi Feng did not answer immediately. He gazed at the stars in silence for a long time before slowly saying, "That mural tells a love story between a Tibetan princess and a foreign prince. The princess gave up wealth and glory for love, while the prince traveled across oceans to reach this land for love. In the end, they overcame their ethnic and cultural differences to be together."
Lin Xue asked in surprise, "What does that have to do with you?"
Qi Feng gently held Lin Xue's hand, his voice trembling slightly. "My mother was also Tibetan. She left her hometown for love and came to America. But I have known little about her background since I was young. All I knew was that she was an artist. She left me a painting of this land and the Potala Palace, telling me that this is the home of her soul. I came here to find my mother, to find my roots, to find my identity."
Lin Xue listened silently to Qi Feng's words. She suddenly realized that she knew too little about this man; he harbored many secrets, and his story was more complex than she had imagined. She gently grasped Qi Feng's hand and said softly, "Qi Feng, your story is touching. I am willing to help you find your mother and your roots."
Qi Feng looked at Lin Xue with gratitude, placing her hand against his cheek as he softly said, "Thank you, Lin Xue. Thank you for understanding me and for being here with me through all of this."
There was a deep sense of mutual understanding between them, and their feelings grew stronger under the starry sky. Lin Xue realized that her love for Qi Feng had transcended the boundaries of race and culture. She was willing to walk every step of the future with him, together protecting this land and their love.
They sat in silence on the hillside, enjoying the rare tranquility and warmth of the moment.
