"Let's go to Kailash," Qi Feng suddenly spoke up, breaking the silence.
Lin Xue was taken aback. She looked at Qi Feng and asked, "Kailash? That place is far away, and..."
"I know," Qi Feng interrupted Lin Xue. He looked at her, his eyes filled with determination.
Lin Xue did not argue. She understood Qi Feng's intentions; she wanted to help him and also wished to see the legendary sacred Kailash. She nodded and said, "Alright, we'll go to Kailash, but you have to promise me to take care of yourself on the way and not take any more risks."
Qi Feng smiled lightly and said, "Don't worry, I will."
"How many days do you plan to be gone?" Lin Xue asked.
"About a week or so," Qi Feng replied.
Lin Xue frowned slightly and said, "A week? What about your work?"
"I've already talked to my colleague; he will help me finish the remaining tasks," Qi Feng explained.
Lin Xue then relaxed a bit. She looked at Qi Feng and said, "Okay then, let's set off."
"Great, I've packed some light luggage; let's leave now," Qi Feng said as he stood up, preparing to leave the old lady's home.
The old lady looked at them with concern in her eyes and asked, "Are you really going to Kailash? That place is very dangerous, and..."
"We'll be careful, Grandma," Qi Feng said with a smile. "Don't worry; we'll take good care of ourselves."
"Alright," the old lady sighed and said, "Just be careful and stay safe on the road."
Qi Feng and Lin Xue bid farewell to the old lady and walked out of her home together, heading towards Kailash.
"Lin Xue, how should we get to Kailash?" Qi Feng asked as they walked.
"I don't know either," Lin Xue shook her head and said. "I was in Lhasa before and am not familiar with this area. I only know that Kailash is in the Ali region, far from Lhasa."
"That's okay," Qi Feng smiled and said. "We can ask for directions along the way; we'll surely find our way to Kailash."
Lin Xue nodded. She looked around and noticed that they had already left Lhasa behind; the surroundings were desolate with barren Gobi desert, and the air was filled with a faint scent of grass and earth.
"Qi Feng, are you hungry? Should we take a break and eat something?" Lin Xue asked.
"Sure, let's find a place to rest," Qi Feng nodded. He looked around and noticed a small stream not far away, with clear water and a few trees nearby that could provide shade.
They arrived at the stream, and Qi Feng took out some compressed biscuits from his backpack. The two sat under the shade of the trees, eating biscuits while enjoying the scenery around them.
"Lin Xue, don't you think it's beautiful here?" Qi Feng said as he looked at the surroundings.
"Yes, it's beautiful," Lin Xue nodded. She smiled and said, "I had only seen the scenery of Tibet on TV before; this time I finally got to see it in person. It's truly breathtaking."
"Exactly," Qi Feng nodded. He looked at Lin Xue and said, "You've lived in the city for so long with little chance to connect with nature. Coming to Tibet this time can help you relax."
"Thank you, Qi Feng," Lin Xue said as she looked at him. "Thank you for bringing me here and letting me see such beautiful scenery."
Qi Feng smiled and said, "No need to thank me; we're friends, and it's only natural to help each other."
After finishing their biscuits and resting for a while, they continued on their way to Kailash.
Along the way, they faced many difficulties: they encountered snowstorms, landslides, and even wild wolves. However, they supported and encouraged each other, ultimately overcoming these challenges.
During one encounter with a landslide, Qi Feng was injured when a large rock fell on his foot while trying to save Lin Xue.
"Qi Feng, are you okay?" Lin Xue asked anxiously as she saw him lying on the ground, groaning in pain.
"I'm fine; it's just a minor injury," Qi Feng said through gritted teeth, trying to reassure her despite the pain.
"But your foot..." Lin Xue looked at his swollen ankle with concern in her eyes.
"It's okay; I'll just rest for a bit," Qi Feng forced a smile despite his pain. "We still have a long way to go; we can't waste time here."
Lin Xue knew Qi Feng was lying; he must be in great pain, yet he was trying to comfort her. She felt deeply moved. Gently helping him up, she said, "Let's find a place to rest first; I'll help bandage your wound."
They found a flat rock where Lin Xue took out some bandages from her backpack and carefully wrapped Qi Feng's injury.
"Qi Feng, you're really foolish. You got hurt so badly just to save me," Lin Xue said as she looked at him.
"It's okay as long as you're safe," Qi Feng replied with a smile. "I'm fine."
Lin Xue gazed at Qi Feng; she didn't know what to say. All she knew was that she was very grateful to him and that she loved him.
"Lin Xue, I..." Qi Feng looked into her eyes, wanting to say something but hesitating as the words caught in his throat.
"What's wrong?" Lin Xue asked.
Qi Feng was silent for a moment before saying, "It's nothing, I just wanted to say that we should continue on our way."
"Okay." Lin Xue nodded, supporting Qi Feng as they continued toward Kailash.
They walked for a long time and finally reached the foot of Kailash.
"We're here." Lin Xue looked at the towering snow-capped mountain before her, her face filled with astonishment as she said, "This is truly magnificent."
Qi Feng nodded, gazing at Kailash with anticipation in his eyes. He believed that there would definitely be clues about Ellie here.
