Li Mian struggled to find the mechanism for the metal door, and with a soft "click," the door slowly opened inward. Behind it was a narrow passage, completely dark, where he couldn't see his hand in front of his face. Li Mian turned on his flashlight to illuminate the passage and cautiously walked inside.
"Officer Li, be careful!" Zhao Chuqiao's voice came from behind, filled with concern.
Li Mian did not respond; he continued forward. At the end of the passage was a heavy wooden door without a handle, only a circular indentation resembling a door knocker. Li Mian gently touched the knocker, and suddenly, the wooden door creaked open slowly.
Behind the door was a secret chamber, not very large—less than ten square meters. Inside were only a table and a chair, with several books and a notebook placed on the table.
Li Mian approached the table and picked up the notebook to flip through it. The notebook contained strange symbols and numbers that looked like some sort of code. Just as Li Mian attempted to decipher the code, he suddenly heard an eerie laugh coming from the corner of the room.
"Haha... you finally made it."
Li Mian looked up sharply to find that the speaker was Yao Fangqian, who was sitting in the corner of the room with a strange smile on his face, his eyes filled with mockery.
"You... how are you here?" Li Mian asked, somewhat panicked; he never expected to encounter Yao Fangqian in this secret chamber.
"I've been waiting for you for a long time," Yao Fangqian said as he stood up and slowly walked toward Li Mian, gently caressing his cheek with his hand, his gaze filled with malice.
"What do you want?" Li Mian struggled to break free from Yao Fangqian's grip, but Yao Fangqian held him firmly like a ghost.
"I want you to play a game with me," Yao Fangqian said with a smile, his voice as seductive as a snake's.
"A game? What do you want?" Li Mian's tone was filled with fear; he had no idea what Yao Fangqian was planning.
"It's simple: if you answer my questions, I'll let you go," Yao Fangqian said with a grin as he pulled out a phone from his pocket, displaying a timer on the screen.
"A timer?" Li Mian looked at Yao Fangqian in confusion.
"There are only five minutes. If you can't answer my question within five minutes, then..." Yao Fangqian did not finish his sentence but looked at Li Mian with a chilling gaze.
"No! You can't do this!" Li Mian struggled desperately, trying to break free from Yao Fangqian's grip, but Yao Fangqian's strength was far greater than he had imagined.
"Stop struggling; it's useless," Yao Fangqian said as he held up his phone in front of Li Mian, the timer on the screen beginning to count down.
Li Mian watched the numbers rapidly decreasing on the phone screen, filled with despair. He had no idea how to escape Yao Fangqian's clutches.
"I already know who you are; you are the one called Li Mian, the Female Captain, right?" Yao Fangqian suddenly said with a smile.
"You... how do you know?" Li Mian asked in terror.
"I know everything; I know all your secrets," Yao Fangqian replied. He placed the phone on the table and picked up a notebook, flipping to the last page. Pointing to a line in the notebook, he said, "Look, here is your secret."
Li Mian's eyes were fixated on the words in the notebook, his mind blank. He had no idea what Yao Fangqian wanted to do; he felt trapped in an invisible cage.
"Now, I want to ask you a question," Yao Fangqian said, his eyes filled with anticipation.
"What question?" Li Mian's voice trembled; he didn't know how to face Yao Fangqian.
"Tell me, why are you so obsessed with capturing me?" Yao Fangqian asked with a smile, his gaze provocative.
Li Mian didn't know how to respond. He felt like he was being led by the nose by Yao Fangqian and had no idea how to break free from his control. He even began to doubt his own judgment.
"You wouldn't have fallen in love with me, would you?" Yao Fangqian said with a laugh, his eyes full of mockery.
Li Mian did not answer; he just stared blankly at Yao Fangqian, his heart filled with confusion. He didn't know what to do.
"You've gone silent? That's not acceptable, I need an answer," Yao Fangqian said as he picked up his phone, pointing the screen at Li Mian's eyes. The timer on the screen had already started counting down, with less than a minute left until the five-minute mark.
Li Mian knew that if he couldn't answer Yao Fangqian's question within five minutes, Yao Fangqian would take action against him.
"What... what do you want?" Li Mian asked desperately, his voice filled with fear.
"I want you... dead," Yao Fangqian replied with a smile, his eyes gleaming with malice.
Li Mian's mind went blank; he couldn't fathom what Yao Fangqian intended to do. He could only watch helplessly as the timer on the phone screen rapidly counted down to zero.
At the moment the timer hit zero, Yao Fangqian suddenly laughed and said, "The game is over."
Li Mian felt a sudden wave of weakness wash over him, collapsing to the ground. His eyes were filled with despair as he realized he was completely under Yao Fangqian's control.
"Just you wait!" Li Mian shouted angrily, his voice brimming with resentment.
Yao Fangqian ignored him and simply said, "You lost!"
"No! It's not over yet!" Li Mian struggled to stand up. He grabbed a notebook from the table and threw it at Yao Fangqian. The notebook flew toward Yao Fangqian's face, and he couldn't dodge in time; it struck him hard, causing him to scream in pain.
At that moment, Zhao Chuqiao's voice came from outside the door.
"Li Mian, are you okay?"
Hearing Zhao Chuqiao's voice, Li Mian fought through the pain, but fear swallowed his words; he could only let out a faint groan.
Zhao Chuqiao pushed the door open and walked in. She saw Li Mian lying on the ground while Yao Fangqian was clutching his face in anger. Realizing the situation was dire, she drew her gun and pointed it at Yao Fangqian, asking, "What happened?"
"You... you... you finally came!" Yao Fangqian glared at Zhao Chuqiao, his eyes filled with hatred.
"I knew you would find this place," Zhao Chuqiao said coldly, having already guessed that Yao Fangqian would set a trap waiting for them.
"Neither of you will escape!" Yao Fangqian shouted angrily as he lunged at Zhao Chuqiao, trying to seize the gun from her hands.
Zhao Chuqiao reacted quickly, aiming the gun at Yao Fangqian and pulling the trigger, but no sound came from the gun. Yao Fangqian had anticipated that Zhao Chuqiao would shoot him and had already disengaged the safety.
Yao Fangqian grabbed Zhao Chuqiao's wrist, taking the gun from her. He pointed it at her with a smug smile on his face.
"I've already won; both of you are my captives now," Yao Fangqian said with a laugh, his voice full of confidence.
"Is that so?" Zhao Chuqiao looked at Yao Fangqian coldly, her eyes filled with anger and disdain.
Suddenly, she reached out and lightly grasped Yao Fangqian's collar, pulling his body closer as she stared directly into his eyes.
Yao Fangqian felt a wave of fear; he didn't know what Zhao Chuqiao intended to do and could only stare blankly into her eyes.
"What do you want?" Yao Fangqian's voice trembled, filled with fear.
"I want you to know that you're wrong," Zhao Chuqiao said coldly, her voice filled with determination.
