Then, a small hand gathered a ball of light in a pale golden hue. She gently patted her shoulder, and the silver blood slowly stopped flowing, though she remained covered in scars.
The girl smiled through her tears, lightly tugging at the corners of her lips. "I really am much weaker now."
The boy stared at everything before him, his beautiful eyes wide with disbelief. Even someone as calm as he was could not help but be astonished.
He spoke again, his voice laced with a barely perceptible tremor. "Are you... human or demon?"
The girl lifted her head, the sun's halo surrounding the boy, obscuring his features, leaving only his generally handsome outline visible.
"I..." A wave of dizziness washed over her, and before she could finish her sentence, she fainted.
The boy cursed under his breath and looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings. This was bad! He had lost track of direction while chasing the black panther, and now he found himself surrounded by strange jungle.
As night fell and the sun dipped low in the sky, the sounds of animals in the mountains were faint and fleeting, carried by the wind.
The boy glanced again at the girl who had fainted on the ground. Her pale face was adorned with glistening tears, evoking a sense of compassion within him.
He scooped her up with one arm and urged his horse forward.
Inside a cave, the fire flickered and occasionally crackled. The boy sat beside the fire, lost in thought as he gazed at the dancing flames.
The girl slowly awakened, her curled eyelashes fluttering as she gradually opened her eyes. Her gaze shifted to the figure beside the fire.
Suddenly sitting up caused her shoulder wound to throb, and she frowned slightly, tears welling up in her eyes. Pain was what she feared the most.
"If you don't want to die, just lie still."
A cold voice came from above her; the boy had already positioned himself in front of her. A shadow enveloped her completely.
The girl struggled to force a smile. "Did you save me? Thank you."
The boy paused for a moment, averting his gaze and pressing his lips together in silence. Of course, he was also the one who had shot her.
The girl felt a chill on her shoulder and looked down, her cheeks flushing red, feeling as if blood could drip from her ears.
Her clothing had slipped down to her elbows, exposing a pink undergarment on her chest, with an unknown herb applied to the wound. It must have been used to treat her injury.
But… didn’t that mean he had seen it…?
