“ I like you too~~” 0

Zhou Yao smiled sweetly at Luo Yi, her small face pale pink and her lips a deep red. 0

Luo Yi suddenly felt a stir in his heart, leaned in to kiss her lips, gently enveloping them, their breaths intertwining. 0

Zhou Yao closed her eyes, her hands emerging from under the blanket to wrap around his neck, obediently responding to him. She awkwardly licked and nibbled at his lips, feeling soft and sweet inside, biting lightly and sucking gently, completely lost in the kiss that she forgot to breathe. Gradually, her breathing became rapid, soft moans escaping her lips. Luo Yi was stirred by her actions, throwing the blanket onto the floor, lifting her warm and soft body out of the covers and holding her tightly in his arms. 0

Lost in the moment, their intimacy deepened. Just as things were heating up, they suddenly heard a familiar voice from the yard. Sulianlin exclaimed, “Ah—finally back!” 0

The two quickly hit the brakes, exchanging a glance before immediately separating. 0

Zhou Yao hurriedly adjusted her clothes, pulling the blanket back over herself and diving into the covers. 0

Luo Yi swiftly got out of bed, put on his shoes, tidied his clothes, folded the blanket neatly and placed it in the cupboard. He then quickly walked to the bedside and leaned down to touch Zhou Yao's forehead: “I’m leaving first.” 0

Zhou Yao's half-red face was buried in the blanket, only her bright black eyes visible. The feelings still lingered as she softly apologized, “Luo Boss, I bit your lips swollen.” 0

He chuckled briefly and kissed her forehead firmly, reminding her: “Rest well.” 0

“Mm.” Zhou Yao smiled. 0

Luo Yi closed the door and quickly walked through the hallway. Just as she reached the bottom of the stairs, she ran into three classmates. 0

"Hey, Boss Luo!" Sulianlin greeted them enthusiastically. 0

Luo Yi pressed her lips together tightly and nodded slightly before brushing past them. 0

The three girls exchanged glances and continued up the stairs. 0

"Boss Luo seems colder than usual," Summer Melody whispered. 0

"Yeah, she used to smile when we greeted her," Tang Shangri-La Duo replied. 0

"Right, sometimes she would even respond," Sulianlin added. 0

The three couldn't help but speculate whether Luo Yi's attitude had changed due to the recent Flash Flood incident, but no one dared to voice it. They had already agreed not to bring it up again. 0

"Let's go find Yao Yao. She's been stuck at the inn for days; she must be bored out of her mind." 0

Sulianlin pushed open the door. "Yao Yao—" 0

Zhou Yao poked her head out from under the covers, looking like she had just woken up, rubbing her eyes. "You guys are back?" 0

"What are you doing sleeping at this hour?" Tang Shangri-La Duo asked as she unloaded her bag from her shoulder. 0

"Yesterday I was sick and felt a bit unwell." 0

"Sick? Are you feeling better now?" Sulianlin immediately sat by her bed, staring at her and touching her face. 0

"I took medicine and got an injection, I'm fine now," Zhou Yao smiled broadly. 0

Sulianlin frowned and touched her again, "But your face is really hot." 0

Zhou Yao: "..." 0

Because she had just done something bad. 0

"I slept too long and got a bit hot," Zhou Yao changed the subject. "How about you all? Was the journey smooth?" 0

"It was smooth. We didn't go far; we just went to the inspection site and then turned back." 0

A few girls started chattering, leaving behind the small conflicts and unpleasantness from a few days ago. 0

Zhou Yao had skipped grades in elementary school and middle school, then went abroad for university before returning home. Her relationships with classmates often fell apart, so it was rare for her to connect well with Sulianlin and the others. She wasn't a harsh person, and since everyone felt regret about what happened that day, she had already forgiven them. Plus, after not seeing each other for several days, the excitement of reuniting quickly dispelled any previous unhappiness. 0

Tang Shangri-La Duo asked Zhou Yao, "Have you been flirting with Boss Luo at the inn these past few days?" 0

Summer Melody added, "I just saw Boss Luo upstairs; he didn't really pay us any attention. Have you made any progress with him?" 0

"Everything is progressing steadily." A typical response from Zhou Yao, ambiguous yet confidently soaring. Everyone joked more than they took it seriously, treating Zhou Yao as if she were still the same, with a fleeting enthusiasm. 0

However, Zhou Yao was quite eager inside and asked, "What do you think of Boss Luo?" 0

"He's great. Tall and handsome, assertive and cool, very manly. I really admire that type," Summer Melody said. Ever since Luo Yi saved her, she had a lot of praise for him. Zhou Yao was secretly pleased until Summer Melody changed her tone, "But I think someone with his experience wouldn't be interested in young girls like us, especially you. He probably prefers mature women." 0

Zhou Yao lowered her eyelids, feeling dissatisfied. 0

Summer Melody turned to Sulianlin: "You know, the one we saw downstairs, holding a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other by the bar." 0

"You also think he has a great presence, right?" Sulianlin's eyes sparkled. "I told you he's a real beauty." 0

Zhou Yao guessed it was Yan Lin and scoffed, "You guys aren't Boss Luo; how would you know?" 0

"Someone like him is hard to win over," Tang Shangri-La Duo said. "You're not on his level." 0

"You speak as if you know him well," Zhou Yao rolled her eyes and covered her face with a blanket, thinking to herself, I've already won him over. 0

Tang Shangri-La Duo continued, "Although I haven't interacted much with Boss Luo, it's clear he has deep thoughts; he probably sees right through you. He might have a crush on you; if it were me, I'd like you too because you're so cute. But people can have fleeting crushes on many opposite-sex individuals without it being long-lasting. He's too profound while you're an open book; I'm afraid you'll get hurt." 0

"People who don't date talk so well about theory! Why don't you go be a teacher?" Zhou Yao poked her head out and retorted. 0

Tang Shangri-La Duo blushed and turned to organize her belongings in silence. 0

Zhou Yao noticed something unusual and exclaimed, "What happened? I don't know?!" 0

Sulianlin quickly replied, "Tang Shangri-La Duo and Lin Brother are together now!" 0

Zhou Yao's mouth dropped open, frozen for three seconds, then said, "Impressive, Tang Instructor's wife Duo." 0

Tang Shangri-La Duo shot her a light glare, but her smile was sweet. 0

Zhou Yao immediately sat up, curious, "How did you confess? Who confessed first? What did you say? Spill the details." 0

Tang Shangri-La Duo smiled without answering, while Summer Melody chimed in, "There was no confession. The mountain path was difficult to walk on, so Lin Brother just held Tang Shangri-La Duo's hand. But later on, even on flat ground, he didn't let go." 0

Zhou Yao sighed, "Lin Jinyan is such a flirt." 0

Sulianlin burst into laughter. 0

After some commotion, the three of them went to clean up. 0

Zhou Yao lay back down on her bed. 0

They held hands just like that? She and Boss Luo had held hands a long time ago, but it wasn't until just now that they officially became a couple. 0

At this moment, there was still his scent on the blanket, making her heart race as she recalled what had happened not long ago. Her heart pounded: If their companions hadn't suddenly returned, how far would they have gone? 0

Luo Yi walked downstairs and saw Yan Lin sitting by the bar smoking, with four empty glasses already on the counter. The bartender was nowhere to be found, so Luo Yi went over to tidy up the glasses. 0

Yan Lin glanced at her watch and said with a hint of mockery, "Not feeling well? It's only been half an hour." 0

Without even looking at her, Luo Yi replied calmly, "I can't control myself around her." 0

Yan Lin's expression changed slightly. His words were still as they used to be, but she no longer felt the thrill of their back-and-forth exchanges. Even now, she still didn't believe that Luo Yi had any feelings for that girl; she suspected he was only approaching her for some ulterior motive. She was the one who matched him best, and what he was doing now seemed to her more like a descent into depravity, a form of revenge, or a show of defiance. 0

As long as she was willing to fight for it, he would soon remember how well they once fit together; once he realized this, he would fall in love with her again, just as she uncontrollably fell in love with him again. 0

She was confident in this contest. 0

Footsteps approached from behind, and Yan Lin turned to glance; it was Lu Xu. 0

She ignored him and turned back. 0

Lu Xu came over to sit next to Yan Lin. 0

"Miss Yan, I have a few questions regarding Wu Ming that I’d like to confirm with you again." 0

"Go ahead," Yan Lin exhaled a puff of smoke lightly. 0

“Under what circumstances did Wu Ming start behaving inappropriately towards you?” 0

Yan Lin remained silent as she placed her cigarette on the edge of the table and took off her coat, revealing a fitted long dress underneath. Her curves were alluring, accentuated by a deep V neckline that hinted at her fair skin. 0

Lu Xu involuntarily inhaled sharply and averted his gaze. 0

Luo Yi was washing a cup when Yan Lin glanced at his back, tilted her chin slightly towards him, and remarked sarcastically, “Wu Ming knows I’m the ex-girlfriend of this Boss. He has a grudge against him and is using women to take revenge.” 0

Luo Yi turned off the faucet and dried the cup with a towel. 0

Lu Xu was momentarily at a loss for words. Seeing Yan Lin’s cold and resentful expression, he felt she didn’t seem to be hiding anything and asked again, “Didn’t his subordinates remind him to hurry? After all, the police are searching the mountains.” 0

“He’s too arrogant, thinking he has everything figured out. He believes the police won’t arrive for at least an hour, not to mention discovering the hostage is missing and calling in the dogs again.” Yan Lin glanced at Luo Yi once more. “Wu Ming didn’t anticipate falling into this Boss’s trap. The manpower is ready, the Hound is ready; they’re just waiting for Wu Ming to jump in. By the time he realizes it, it will be too late—the police will be at the door with nowhere to escape.” 0

Luo Yi placed the cup back in the cabinet and turned to enter the workspace. Yan Lin curled her lips in an ambiguous smile, leisurely took a puff of her cigarette, and looked at Lu Xu. “Officer Lu, do you suspect me?” 0

Lu Xu chuckled oddly, his expression hard to read. “I’m not suspicious of you.” 0

He cast a quick glance at the closed door of the workspace; it was just a fleeting look but did not escape Yan Lin’s notice. 0

0

Zhou Yao woke up to find it was already dinner time. He couldn’t help but feel frustrated for oversleeping; he would be heading to the airport tomorrow morning, leaving little time left to spend with Luo Yi. 0

She got dressed and ran downstairs to check, but Luo Yi was not there; however, there were quite a few guests in the Common Area. 0

Zhou Yao absentmindedly had dinner with her companions. Everyone was quite happy, saying this was the last proper meal in Yading, and they should drink some wine to celebrate. 0

When Luo Yi walked into the restaurant, she saw Zhou Yao and her companions at a table eating. The others were very engaged, while Zhou Yao was the only one looking around. When their eyes met, her eyes lit up. 0

Luo Yi walked over, disregarding the other people at the table, and asked, "Are you full?" 0

Zhou Yao nodded. 0

"Want to go for a walk?" 0

"Sure." 0

... 0

For safety reasons, Luo Yi didn't take Zhou Yao far; they just walked along the small path towards the village. 0

It was late autumn, and the mountains were covered in golden hues. As the wind blew, yellow leaves fluttered down, landing on Zhou Yao's head and shoulders, falling into the small creek by the roadside and flowing down the mountain with the gentle stream. 0

At first, the two of them didn't say much as they breathed in the fresh mountain air and walked slowly, their shoulders separated by a person's distance. 0

"Take another look; once we go back, we won't see this again," Zhou Yao said as she looked around and even started walking backward. 0

Luo Yi looked down at the road behind her, careful to prevent her from falling. 0

He asked, "Will you be very busy when you get back?" 0

"Yeah. We're at the critical research stage," Zhou Yao replied. "What about you?" 0

"What about me?" 0

"There will be a lot of guests at the inn in the next few months, right?" 0

Luo Yi shook his head. "Once October passes, it will decrease." 0

"Will Boss Luo stay at the inn?" 0

"Why wouldn't I?" He glanced at her. 0

"Oh." Zhou Yao turned around and walked properly. She didn't want to leave but realized it was impossible to stay forever. 0

"Actually—" she tilted her head and said brightly, "when the inn isn't so busy, you can come find me to hang out." 0

"Hang out with what?" He glanced at her, asking very specifically. 0

"..." Zhou Yao thought for a moment and said, "The Great Wall... Forbidden City..." 0

"People are crowded together." 0

"Shidu, there are still many suburbs with beautiful scenery." 0

"Can it be better than here?" 0

"Well, let me think of what else is fun... Oh, Sanlitun, Shichahai..." 0

"My little bar here is not bad either. We can have a party anytime, and guests come from all over." He turned his head and looked down at her, "If I go to Beijing to visit you, what will you treat me to?" 0

Zhou Yao furrowed her brows tightly, wondering how such a big city like Beijing had nothing fun enough to attract him. 0

Suddenly, she chuckled, "Me. I'm here." She raised her chin to look at him, her delicate brows slightly arched, "Isn't that a good reason?" 0

Luo Yi smiled under the autumn light, reached out and tugged at her arm, causing Zhou Yao to bump against his side. His palm slid down her arm to her hand, holding it and tucking it into his coat pocket. 0

The autumn wind blew, and Zhou Yao felt a warmth in her heart. 0

... 0

It rained at night, and the wind shook the trees. 0

Sulianlin and the others were tired from being outside and fell asleep as soon as they hit the bed. Zhou Yao tossed and turned, feeling anxious and restless. She didn't know if it was because she had slept too much during her illness or if it was the wind and rain outside, or something else entirely. 0

The fever must have really taken a toll on her, a little flame flickering inside her that just wouldn't go out. 0

Zhou Yao tiptoed down from her bed and made her way downstairs to the door of Luo Yi's room. She felt inexplicably nervous, her breath quickening, and her legs trembling. 0

Her raised hand shook slightly as she knocked on his door. 0

Knock, knock. 0

She was anxious, her mind in a daze, and just as she was about to knock again, the door opened. 0

Luo Yi stood in the doorway, his gaze deep as he looked down at her. 0

Their eyes met, and the sound of their breathing was clearly audible. 0

He asked softly, "Is something wrong?" 0

"Boss Luo, I want some milk." 0

... 0

In the empty Common Area late at night, only a soft light hung above the bar, cascading down from above Luo Yi's head, accentuating the sharp contours of his face. 0

He washed his hands thoroughly, took a box of milk, cut it open, and poured it into a small flat Milk Pot. He then placed the pot on an alcohol lamp. Using a long wooden spoon, he slowly stirred the milk, its rich aroma filling the air as he struggled to steady his breath. 0

Zhou Yao leaned against the bar, gazing at him in an unusually quiet manner. 0

Neither of them spoke a word, the silence so profound that it felt as if they could hear each other's heartbeat. 0

The milk had warmed up, and Zhou Yao picked it up to drink slowly. 0

Luo Yi turned his head away from her and lit a cigarette. Even without looking at her, he could vividly recall the adorable way she drank the milk, her pink tongue and delicate teeth. 0

Luo Yi's hand holding the cigarette trembled slightly, almost imperceptibly. He inhaled deeply, letting the smoke swirl in his lungs before slowly exhaling, trying to suppress his restless thoughts, though it seemed futile. 0

Suddenly, he heard her cough, choking on the milk. 0

Luo Yi turned around to see that more than half a cup of milk had splashed onto Zhou Yao, the milky liquid trickling down her chin and neck into the depths of her clothing... 0

A jolt ran through Luo Yi's heart, and he immediately averted his gaze, pulling out a tissue for her. However, she did not take it; instead, she wiped her chin with the back of her hand, gasping for breath and struggling to say, "Luo Boss, I'm dizzy and having trouble breathing. I can't come over. It feels like altitude sickness this time; I'm not lying to you." 0

Her cheeks were flushed, and she took deep breaths that were slow and heavy, as if she was genuinely uncomfortable. 0

Luo Yi clenched his cigarette tightly and quickly searched through the cabinet but couldn't find an oxygen tank; it seemed they were sold out. Remembering there was one in his room, he said, "Wait here." 0

He returned to his room to look for the spare oxygen tank and turned around to find Zhou Yao had followed him in. 0

He stood still, watching her without saying a word. 0

She breathed heavily, unsure of what to say. Perhaps to ease the awkwardness, she suddenly wrinkled her nose and sniffed the air. "It smells nice!" She searched around and walked to the half-open bathroom door. "Oh, it's the soap." 0

Luo Yi stared at her, still silent. 0

The room was enveloped in silence, only the sound of wind and rain from outside could be heard. On a stormy night like this, it was perfect for cuddling for warmth. 0

Luo Yi bit his lip, tapped his fingers on the bottle, and said, "If you're dizzy, talk less. — Come here." 0

Zhou Yao obediently walked over. He opened the bottle and handed it to her. Zhou Yao took it and inhaled deeply, her dark eyes fixed on him without blinking. 0

Luo Yi averted her gaze and lit a cigarette. After taking a few puffs, he glanced at her again; she was still looking at him, her bright black eyes sparkling like a persistent little creature. 0

Luo Yi turned his gaze away once more, smoking but gradually clenching his jaw tighter. 0

He understood the desire in her eyes; he felt it even more intensely than she did. Yet he held back, wanting to wait until he could offer her a clearer future. 0

"Alright," she said as she set down the bottle. 0

"Get some rest," Luo Yi said hurriedly, pressing down on her shoulder to turn her around and push her toward the door. Just as he opened the door, Zhou Yao suddenly broke free, slamming the door shut with a bang and turning to leap into his arms, holding him tightly. 0

The half-burnt cigarette fell to the ground. Luo Yi remained silent for a moment, swallowing hard as his Adam's apple bobbed up and down. 0

Zhou Yao gasped for breath, holding him tightly like a koala clinging to a tree branch. 0

He was unusually silent. After a moment, he stroked the back of her head. She trembled lightly, sweat covering the back of her neck. He lowered his head and kissed her forehead. 0

Her head slowly rubbed against him, filled with confusion and nervousness as she looked up at him. 0

The girl's eyes were moist and bright, like stars reflected in water. 0

Luo Yi's dark eyes fixed on her, and in the next second, he forcefully pressed her against the door, biting her lip. Zhou Yao's heart tightened as she gasped; the scent of tobacco filled her senses. His kiss was as domineering and intense as the first time, and Zhou Yao quickly felt dizzy and flushed, her consciousness fading. 0

The fragrance of smoke and milk intertwined. 0

Zhou Yao let out a soft moan, her body softening between him and the door. His hot palm slipped under her white sweater, causing shivers to rise on her skin. 0

He touched something and let out a low, hoarse laugh, asking, "Is it that one from last time?" 0

Zhou Yao trembled as she replied, "Mm." 0

He clearly remembered the small black heart pattern, his rough thumb rubbing back and forth. 0

Zhou Yao tilted her head back with a soft whimper, waves of heat rolling through her body. 0

As her dress fell away, she transformed into a pool of water, exuding a faint scent of milk. He was drawn in by that fragrance, licking the milk residue from her chin and continuing down until it was clean... 0

Zhou Yao twisted and turned on the sea-blue sheets like a small white fish. 0

"Shy?" he teased her. 0

"No," she replied, her face turning red. 0

"What are you thinking about?" he whispered in her ear. 0

She spoke honestly, "How to perform better—" 0

He let out a laugh that resonated through her. 0

"Just go along with me." 0

She paused for a moment and asked softly, "How do I go along?" 0

"If it feels good, make some noise, like this." He lightly touched her. 0

"Ah—" 0

She was inexperienced and didn't want to be toyed with in bed; she had never known her body could feel such strange sensations. She didn't know what would happen after tonight or how to face the separation in the morning, but at this moment, she was lost in his burning warmth, intoxicated and unwilling to wake up. 0

The rain outside seemed to grow heavier, drowning out her soft moans. He had her feeling unusually delicate. At the moment he sank in, beads of sweat trembled on her forehead and rolled down. 0

With shallow and deep breaths, she felt both ecstasy and annihilation. 0

After tossing and turning, her voice had gone hoarse. It felt as if she had sunk into the deep sea, losing consciousness amidst the peaks of ecstasy, everything becoming blurry except for his hot, firm body that felt real. 0

On a night filled with wind and rain, his deep breaths sounded near yet distant in her ears: "Zhou Yao?" 0

"Mm?" Her forehead was damp with sweat as she smiled sweetly at him, her eyes bright and clear. 0

The joy at the corners of her mouth was impossible to hide, and he was somewhat moved. He gently stroked her forehead, brushing aside the hair there, and asked, "What are you so happy about?" 0

"I think I'm a bit high on oxygen." She rolled over and giggled. 0

He smiled and pulled her back into his embrace. She wrapped her arms around him, comfortably curling up like a child. Feeling a bit tired, she rubbed her eyes and said, "Can I sleep here with you tonight?" 0

"Go ahead and sleep." Luo Yi kissed her eyelids, got up to dispose of the used condom in the trash can. However, at the moment he let it go, he froze. 0

He stood by the bed for a second or two; Zhou Yao had already closed her eyes and fallen into a peaceful sleep. 0

"Zhou Yao." His voice was unusually restrained. 0

Zhou Yao sensed something was off and groggily turned to look at him: "What's wrong?" 0

Luo Yi's pupils were dark and calm as he said, "The condom broke." 0
