On the Mid-Autumn Festival, Grandma dug out last year's leftover mooncakes and nuts, happily calling us to eat.
"The mooncakes aren't expired; they just have a bit of mold. Wash them, and they're still edible. Besides, if something is moldy, you can't eat it, but there are still clean ones!"
Aunt chimed in, "Exactly! What do kids know about being picky? Just because there's some mold on top doesn't mean it's not clean. When we didn't have anything to eat before, we still ate them."
Looking at the pile of moldy pastries in front of me, images flashed through my mind. In my past life, I had eaten these and ended up with vomiting and diarrhea, feeling weak all over. At the time, I thought it was just a stomach upset and didn't take it seriously. Grandma's face fell immediately. "What do you know? Don't show off here. Eating a couple of pastries won't kill you! I've eaten moldy bread before, and I'm fine now!"
Saying that, she defiantly grabbed a handful and stuffed them into her mouth.
I rushed over and grabbed her hand. "Grandma, you really can't eat this. The knowledge I've learned won't lie; these foods are truly inedible."
Grandma raised her hand and pushed me to the ground. I fell into the ashes from the stove, a few sparks splattering onto me, burning painfully all over. But I didn't dare to scream; I could only get up and snatch the plastic bag from Grandma's hand and throw it into the fire.
Furious, Grandma picked up the fire tongs and swung them at me. "I'll teach you to show off! I'll make sure to beat you today!"
I screamed in pain, my hand was burned and bleeding.
My cries startled my aunt, who shuffled out in her slippers and said fiercely, "What are you doing at this hour? Are you trying to get yourself killed? Xiaoguang just fell asleep; if he wakes up, I'll deal with you!"
I covered my wound, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably.
Seeing her arrive, my grandmother became even more aggressive, pointing at me and scolding, "You little brat, you can't even keep your mouth shut while eating. Still thinking about throwing things? The world has turned upside down. Just wait until I deal with you properly today."
With that, she raised her hand to hit me.
I couldn't bear the pain any longer and cried even harder.
My aunt, fearing that I would wake Lu Xiaoguang again, exchanged a glance with my grandmother. The two of them moved in unison and pinned me down.
They used their rough hands to cover my mouth, their nails digging deep into my flesh.
I was in so much pain that I couldn't make a sound; I could only whimper and plead for mercy. But they were unmoved and instead increased their grip.
At that moment, Lu Xiaoguang came out.
He rubbed his sleepy eyes and, seeing me pinned to the ground, jumped up excitedly. "Mom, Grandma, you caught An Zixuan? That's great! Watch me deal with her!"
He jumped onto me, bouncing up and down.
The pressure on my chest made it painful to breathe.
After he had his fun, he unzipped his pants and urinated on me.
The scalding liquid poured over my head; I struggled desperately but was held down even tighter.
That night, the moonlight was bright, but all I could see was darkness.
The next day, I woke up at my grandmother's house.
As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw my grandmother hunched over, rummaging under the table.
Seeing that I was awake, she said happily, "Last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival leftovers included some mooncakes and nuts. I found them so we don’t have to spend money buying more."
