Hearing the name "Brother Bao," Bing Tianyi was taken aback; this guy was the boss of the night market. According to the rules, everyone setting up stalls here had to pay him a hundred yuan in protection fees on the second day of each month.
Thinking about this, Bing Tianyi calculated the time—it was only March 1st, with one day left until Room Two. There was no rush; it was more important to see the goddess first!
Before his father could rush over with a spoon to reclaim the money, Bing Tianyi vanished into the crowd without a trace.
At 6:40 PM, Bing Tianyi arrived breathlessly in front of Dragon City Hotel.
Looking up at the magnificent hotel, Bing Tianyi hesitated. He had only fifty yuan left from his online account and had snatched one hundred fifty-five from his parents, totaling two hundred five yuan. Entering this place would likely cost that much for just a cup of coffee.
Whether to go in was a dilemma.
Just as Bing Tianyi was indecisive, his phone rang again. He took out his phone and saw a familiar number on the screen; his earlier hesitation vanished instantly.
"Ziyan is already a bit eager to see me!"
With this thought, Bing Tianyi answered the call, speaking clearly, "I'm at the door; I'll be right there."
Ziyan's laughter came through the phone, followed by her saying, "Great! We're all waiting for you; hurry up!"
Upon hearing this, Bing Tianyi quickened his pace.
Soon, he arrived at the door of the private room. After catching his breath, he pushed open the door, but the scene before him made him regret coming here.
Inside, his old classmates first looked at him with surprise, then returned to their seats and began chatting among themselves. To them, he seemed completely invisible.
Just as he was feeling awkward, Ziyan, sitting at the front of the table in a casual Armani outfit, stood up and smiled at him, saying, "Tianyi, why are you so late? This won't do; you have to drink as a penalty!"
"It's only six fifty. I shouldn't be late, right?"
As soon as Bing Tianyi finished speaking, his former class monitor and rival chimed in, "Zombie Eyes! We started at five o'clock. It's already seven, and you're just arriving? Isn't that late?"
"Looks like our Brother Tianyi has gotten so successful in business that he’s showing off to us old classmates."
"Yeah, just look at him, dressed to the nines. What a presence! Isn't it impressive?"
Faced with his classmates' mockery, Bing Tianyi felt like he could just go up and knock them all out. But he held back once again; after all, he had endured for many years and didn't want to lose his temper this time.
"Haha, what business am I doing? I've been idle lately," Bing Tianyi finally said quietly after a long pause.
Ziyan secretly laughed beside him. Once Bing Tianyi finished speaking, she leaned in and curiously asked, "Tianyi, it's a class reunion today. Why didn’t you bring any gifts for us old classmates?"
Gifts...
Hearing that word made Bing Tianyi's mind buzz. He turned his head with a troubled expression. Just then, his high school roommate and best friend Pang Yu stood up and said, "What do you mean no gifts? I brought Tianyi's gift for you all; it's outside. Let me and Tianyi go get it."
Seeing the expression on Pang Yu's face, if it weren't for these old classmates being there, Bing Tianyi might have cried from gratitude. He never expected his old friend to be so loyal, always ready to lend a helping hand when he needed it most.
Once outside, Bing Tianyi grabbed Pang Yu tightly.
"Alright, I know you haven't worked for the past six months, so I prepared this for you in advance. Let go of me; I'll take you to get it."
Holding a box filled with heavy items, Bing Tianyi curiously asked Pang Yu, "Bro, what is this?"
"Very precious, you can just pay me back with a year's salary after you find a job."
"Wow, what on earth is this?"
"Don't ask, I'll tell you once we go inside," Pang Yu said, a strange smile appearing on his face.
Following Pang Yu, Bing Tianyi just entered and placed the items he was holding on the ground when Pang Yu spoke up: "Classmates, this is a gift that Tianyi specifically asked me to buy for everyone. It cost Tianyi a fortune to gather enough. When Tianyi opens it later, please don't mind!"
"Wow, Zombie Eyes, when did you become so generous? Let me see what good stuff is inside!" Class monitor Huang Ke stepped forward and quickly opened the box. After taking out the beautifully packaged gift boxes inside, Huang Ke gathered a group of classmates together and began to unwrap the boxes layer by layer, muttering, "It's so heavy; it can't be gold, can it?"
But what Bing Tianyi never expected was that when they opened it, they found nothing but ordinary river sand inside, leaving him utterly embarrassed.
"Zombie Eyes, you can't be serious! What is this? If my eyes aren't deceiving me, this should be sand, right?" Huang Ke stepped forward, grabbing a handful of sand and coldly laughing at Bing Tianyi.
"This... this is sand..."
"I can't believe it; it really is sand."
A wave of laughter quickly filled the room! Only Bing Tianyi stood there with his face alternating between white and red, looking utterly miserable.
