The morning sun pierced through the clouds, casting warmth onto the busy city streets. In the Linya household, the air in the living room still carried the tense atmosphere from the previous night's discussion. Linya and Ruo Shu sat on the sofa, with the ancient ritual book placed in front of them, exchanging worried glances.
As Linya flipped through the pages, her brow furrowed slightly, pondering the connection between the content described in the book and the proposed collaboration with Jia Fugui. "This Jia Fugui is no good person; we must be extremely cautious in our cooperation with him."
Ruo Shu He nodded, his expression revealing doubt: "I also felt it, there's a kind of unsettling aura about him. But if this can help me break free, perhaps it's worth a try."
Linya Taking a deep breath, her gaze was firm: "Regardless, we can't fully trust him. We need to have our own plan."
At this moment, the doorbell rang, interrupting their conversation. Linya got up to answer the door, and standing outside was Jia Fugui. He was dressed in an expensive suit and was holding what looked like an ancient wooden box.
Jia Fugui had a confident smile on his face as he said, "Miss Linya, can we start our collaboration? I have brought something special."
Linya frowned, but still let Jia Fugui in. In the living room, Jia Fugui placed the wooden box on the table and opened it to reveal complex runes and some strange props inside.
"These are all the necessary items for the ritual," Jia Fugui explained, observing Linya and the Ruo Shu for their reactions.
Linya leaned against the back of the sofa, calmly surveying the items on the table. "Are you really sure that these can help Ruo Shu to break free?"
Jia Fugui seemed unsurprised by Linya's skepticism and confidently replied, "Of course, I have great confidence in my abilities. As long as you follow my instructions, success is inevitable."
Ruo Shu Quietly observing all of this, his heart was filled with contradictions and worries. He didn't want Linya to be in danger because of him, but at the same time, he longed for liberation.
Jia Fugui held an ancient wooden staff in his hand, its surface engraved with intricate runes, faintly shimmering with a mysterious light. In the center of the room, he carefully sprinkled sparkling salt grains in circles on the ground, forming a perfect protective circle. Every step, every movement, revealed his mastery and reverence for this mysterious art.
Linya stood aside, sharp-eyed and scrutinizing every move of Jia Fugui, inwardly filled with doubt. "Can these so-called rituals really help Ruo Shu find liberation?" she muttered to herself, despite knowing very little about this unknown realm, her intuition told her to stay vigilant.
Ruo Shu stood next to Linya, his face masking a smile, attempting to offer some comfort to Linya, but the worry and pain that occasionally flashed in his eyes were impossible to conceal. He gently rubbed his blurry hands, seemingly worried about dissipating.
Jia Fugui then took out a piece of yellow talisman paper and began chanting incantations, as if communicating with an unseen force. His voice was deep and rhythmic, carrying a chilling sense of magic. As he chanted, the talisman paper suddenly ignited on its own, turning into a ball of fire that illuminated the entire room, casting a strange, almost sinister expression on his face.
"Is all of this really reliable?" Linya couldn't help but feel doubtful, but she knew there was no turning back now. She could only hope in this mysterious and unknowable power. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions, while unconsciously clenching her fists, preparing herself to take action at any moment.
Jia Fugui seemed to sense Linya's unease and suspicion. He turned his head and gave her a meaningful look, speaking with a mysterious confidence, "Miss Xiao, please rest assured. All of this is for the good of the Ruo Shu. As long as the ritual is completed successfully, he will regain his freedom."
Although Linya was still filled with doubt and unease, at this critical moment, she could only nod and turn her gaze back to the Ruo Shu, her eyes filled with unmistakable support and encouragement.
The ritual continued, and Jia Fugui's movements became increasingly mysterious and unpredictable, creating a heavy atmosphere in the room. An indescribable force seemed to be flowing through the air. The figure of Ruo Shu began to blur, and a pained expression appeared on his face.
Seeing this, Linya felt a surge of anger: "Stop! What are you doing?"
Jia Fugui seemed to be interrupted by Linya's call, and the ritual suddenly stopped. The figure of Ruo Shu also returned to normal. He looked at Linya with a hint of displeasure and said, "I was helping you. If you don't want my help, I can leave immediately."
Linya took a deep breath. She knew she couldn't let Jia Fugui leave like this. They needed more information. "No, please continue. But you must tell me what each of your steps is doing."
Jia Fugui nodded impatiently and began the ritual again. But this time, Linya and the Ruo Shu were even more vigilant, ready to stop any potential danger at any moment.
The ritual continued for a while, but it seemed to have no obvious effect. Ruo Shu did not show any change in his condition, but instead, his face showed a more obvious sign of fatigue.
Jia Fugui finally stopped and a displeased expression appeared on his face: "It seems that today's situation is not suitable for the ceremony. We will try again another day."
Linya and Ruo Shu exchanged a glance, both seeing disappointment in each other's eyes. Jia Fugui packed up his belongings and left Linya's home with a smug look.
At the moment the door closed, both Linya and Ruo Shu breathed a sigh of relief, but their inner unease and doubts grew stronger. This collaboration only made them more certain that Jia Fugui's intentions were far from simply being helpful.
Linya walked to the window, gazing at the bustling street outside, silently resolving in her heart, "No matter what Jia Fugui's intentions are, we cannot let him succeed. Ruo Shu, we still have a long way to go."
Ruo Shu stood by her side, gently holding her hand: "No matter how difficult the road ahead may be, I will always be by your side."
Linya's mood did not relax with this, but instead became more worried. She turned to look at Ruo Shu, seeing a hint of fatigue in his expression, which made her feel concerned.
" Ruo Shu, how are you feeling?" Linya approached, her voice filled with concern and her eyes showing worry for him.
Ruo Shu looked up, meeting Linya's gaze. There was a faint smile in his eyes, but more so a complex emotion that was hard to put into words. "I... I feel okay, just a little tired."
Linya was worried and reached out to try to touch Ruo Shu to personally feel his condition. Her hand passed through his seemingly nonexistent body, only grasping air. Linya's heart sank instantly. She knew that as a ghost, Ruo Shu couldn't feel her touch or provide any warmth.
"Even though I can't truly feel your touch, your concern for me makes me feel very warm," Ruo Shu said with a slight smile, trying to comfort Linya with his soft voice, conveying a soothing power.
Linya heard this and couldn't help but feel a tightness in her heart. She knew that Ruo Shu had always been striving to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude. Even in the face of many difficulties, he had never given up hope of finding liberation. Linya's eyes flashed with determination, " Ruo Shu, no matter how difficult, we will face it together until we find a way to set you free."
Ruo Shu looked at Linya with even more gratitude in his eyes. "I know that with you by my side, I have endless courage and hope."
The conversation between the two is filled with trust and reliance on each other, and even though the future is uncertain, it cannot shake their determination. Linya turned and walked towards the window, gazing at the urban scenery outside, took a deep breath, trying to organize her thoughts.
At this moment, Murong and Bihua hurried into the living room, apparently sensing the unusual atmosphere after Jia Fugui left. Murong asked with concern, " Linya, what just happened? We felt a strong wave of energy outside."
Bihua also looked at Ruo Shu with a worried expression. She knew that Ruo Shu had just gone through the ceremony and must have endured a great deal of pressure mentally and spiritually.
Linya turned around with a complex expression on her face and detailed the recent experience to Murong and Bihua. After listening, Murong furrowed his brows, pondered for a moment, and then said, " Jia Fugui's behavior is too strange. We must be more careful. His purpose is definitely not just to help Ruo Shu escape."
Bihua nodded gently, her eyes revealing determination. "We need more information to uncover Jia Fugui's true intentions. Perhaps we can find some clues from his past whereabouts."
Upon hearing this, Linya's eyes lit up. " Bihua is right. We can't just sit and wait. We must take the initiative. Murong, can you use your connections to gather relevant information about Jia Fugui for us?"
Murong nodded, "No problem, I will do my best. We must make use of every resource available to gain the upper hand in this competition."
The four people's eyes met in the air, their mutual understanding and determination making the small team even more cohesive.
