After falling asleep, Zhao Guangcai quietly stood by Zhang Xiaoxiao's side, looking down at her. 0

He gazed at her, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes. In truth, the reason he married her was simply to avoid gossip from the villagers. He didn't want others to label him as a lone wolf, to say he was reclusive or had a strange personality. He wanted a wife to make his life feel more complete. 0

However, now he realized that he was growing increasingly fond of her. Her smile was radiant and warm, like a gentle ray of sunshine that brought him an unprecedented sense of warmth. This warmth was something he had never experienced in his twenty-four years of life. 0

Unknowingly, his heart had been melted by her presence. Initially, he only wanted to maintain a respectful distance and be companions. But as time passed, he found that his feelings for her had surpassed mere companionship. He began to genuinely care about her every move, every frown and smile. 0

He wasn't sure if this could be called love, but he knew he didn't want to lose her. He wanted to be with her forever. As he looked at her sleeping face, a faint smile curved at the corners of his mouth. He thought, perhaps this is what they call love. 0

He watched her, a soft light shining in his eyes. He thought that if she was willing, he would treat her well for a lifetime and remain loyal to her forever. He believed that one day, she would come to love him too. 0

The sun was gradually setting. Zhao Guangcai looked at the sky, then put away his book, stood up, and with a basket on his back, a bamboo clip in hand, and a long rope hanging at his waist, he appeared ready to head up the mountain. 0

Seeing him prepared to go out, Zhang Xiaoxiao couldn't help but furrow her brows. "What are you planning to do?" 0

"I'm going to check on the traps I set earlier on the mountain. I want to see if there's any catch," Zhao Guangcai replied. 0

"It's almost dark; you're really going up the mountain now?" Zhang Xiaoxiao said worriedly. 0

"Don't worry, I'll be back soon," Zhao Guangcai reassured her with a smile. "You don't need to be concerned." 0

"But..." Zhang Xiaoxiao still felt uneasy. 0

"Trust me, I'll be fine," Zhao Guangcai said with a smile as he patted her shoulder before turning to walk out the door. 0

Zhang Xiaoxiao watched his figure disappear outside before retracting her gaze and turning back into the house. 0

"Hey, aren't you going to follow him and see what he's up to?" the system suddenly asked. 0

"Why would I do that?" Zhang Xiaoxiao replied, puzzled. 0

"Don't you want to know what he's really doing?" the system questioned. 0

"I do want to know, but I don't want him to realize I'm following him," Zhang Xiaoxiao answered. 0

"Then just follow him and take a look," the system suggested. 0

"No way," Zhang Xiaoxiao firmly refused. "If I follow him now, he'll definitely suspect me." 0

"Are you not worried about him?" the system asked. 0

"I am worried, but I trust him," Zhang Xiaoxiao smiled. "I believe he will be okay." 0

The system was speechless upon hearing this. It had thought she would be curious, but unexpectedly, she seemed so at ease. It seemed this woman wasn't as curious as it had assumed. 0

After leaving home, Zhao Guangcai didn't head straight up the mountain but instead walked along a narrow path deeper into the forest. This path was very narrow and rugged, surrounded by dense woods that most people would avoid. However, Zhao Guangcai walked steadily without any hesitation in his steps. His gaze was cold, appearing even more obscure in the twilight of the forest. 0

He walked for about half an hour before finally stopping. He looked around to confirm that no one was nearby before slowly moving forward. His destination was known only to him. 0

On the other side, Li Xiumei was delivering lunch to Father Li. While Father Li was resting in the fields, he suddenly said, "Xiu Mei, you're not a child anymore; it's time for you to find a suitable match." 0

"Dad, what are you talking about?" Upon hearing this, Li Xiumei's face immediately flushed with embarrassment. 0

"Haha, Xiu Mei is shy," Father Li said with a smile. 0

"Dad, if you keep saying that, I won't talk to you anymore," Li Xiumei said, blushing as she glared at Father Li. 0

"Alright, alright, I won't say anything more," Father Li waved his hand with a laugh. "But really, Xiu Mei, you should consider this matter seriously." 0

Hearing this, Li Xiumei lowered her head and softly replied, "Dad, I don't want to get married right now." 0

"Why not?" Father Li asked in confusion. 0

"I..." Li Xiumei hesitated for a moment, then gathered her courage and looked up at Father Li. "I want to wait until my brother comes back before I get married." 0

"Your brother?" Father Li's brow furrowed slightly. "Is your brother still not back?" 0

"Yes." Li Xiumei nodded gently. "I've already written to him, but he hasn't replied yet." 0

"Sigh." Upon hearing this, Father Li let out a soft sigh. "Your brother has been wandering outside for so long; who knows when he will return." 0

"Dad, I believe my brother will come back," Li Xiumei said firmly. 0

"I hope so." Father Li sighed again and looked at Li Xiumei. "Xiu Mei, you should really consider finding a match soon; it would put your father’s mind at ease." 0

"Dad..." Li Xiumei wanted to refuse again, but seeing the determined look in Father Li's eyes, she had to swallow her words of rejection. She knew that Father Li was very stubborn; once he made up his mind about something, it was hard to change it. 0

With a helpless sigh, she nodded lightly. "Alright then." 0

"Good." Father Li smiled with satisfaction and patted her shoulder. "Xiu Mei, I'm doing this for your own good." 0

"I know," Li Xiumei replied softly and lowered her head to eat quietly. She thought about Zhao Guangcai's kindness towards Zhang Xiaoxiao, his smile towards her, and his gentle demeanor. 0

A surge of envy welled up in her heart. She longed to have a husband like Zhao Guangcai. She thought that if she could find a husband like Zhao Guangcai, she would surely be very happy. 0
