"Let's go down the mountain," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
"Okay," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied, taking Xiao Liang's hand and following Zhao Guangcai down the mountain. 0
Zhao Guangcai walked ahead, occasionally glancing back at Zhang Xiaoxiao. 0
"Why are you looking at me?" Zhang Xiaoxiao felt a bit uncomfortable under Zhao Guangcai's gaze. 0
"You’re covered in mud," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
"Huh?" Zhang Xiaoxiao looked down and indeed saw that the hem of her clothes was quite dirty. 0
"I guess I got it on me when I was looking for him earlier," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0
"Yeah," Zhao Guangcai replied. 0
"What about you? Why are you all muddy too?" Zhang Xiaoxiao countered. 0
"I fell," Zhao Guangcai said. 0
"How could you be so clumsy? How did you fall?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked with concern. 0
"I'm fine, it doesn't hurt," Zhao Guangcai replied. 0
"It doesn't hurt? You're bleeding," Zhang Xiaoxiao pointed out. 0
"Where's the blood?" Zhao Guangcai asked. 0
"Here, here, and here," Zhang Xiaoxiao said, pointing to Zhao Guangcai's elbow and knee. 0
"Oh, that? I didn't notice," Zhao Guangcai said lightly. 0
"You really are a big fool," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0
"Yeah, I'm a big fool, and you're a little fool," Zhao Guangcai replied. 0
"You're the little fool," Zhang Xiaoxiao retorted. 0
"Yeah, I'm the little fool," Zhao Guangcai agreed. 0
"Pfft." Xiao Liang couldn't help but laugh at the banter between the two. 0
"Sister-in-law, Brother Guangcai, you two are really funny," Xiao Liang said. 0

"What's so interesting? You, Brother Guangcai, are such a dull person; you can't even let out a single sound all day," Zhang Xiaoxiao complained. 0

"Sister-in-law, Brother Guangcai treats you very well," Xiao Liang said. 0

"He treats me well? If he did, he wouldn't have left me on the mountain," Zhang Xiaoxiao retorted. 0

"I didn't leave you on the mountain; I just went out to hunt," Zhao Guangcai defended himself. 0

"Hmph, anyway, you left me on the mountain," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0

"I won't do that again," Zhao Guangcai promised. 0

"That's more like it," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied, satisfied. 0

"Sister-in-law, you're really lucky," Xiao Liang said enviously. 0

"You will be happy too, Xiao Liang," Zhang Xiaoxiao comforted him. 0

"Really?" Xiao Liang asked. 0

"Yes, really," Zhang Xiaoxiao assured him. 0

"Xiao Liang, come on, I'll take you down the mountain to see a doctor," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Thank you, Brother Guangcai," Xiao Liang replied. 0

"You're welcome," Zhao Guangcai said. 0

"Ah!" Xiao Liang suddenly exclaimed. 0

"What happened?" Zhang Xiaoxiao quickly asked. 0

"I forgot my basket," Xiao Liang said. 0

"Xiao Liang, are you silly? You're injured and still thinking about a basket?" Zhang Xiaoxiao scolded. 0

"But..." Xiao Liang wanted to say something more. 0

"No buts, let's hurry up and go," Zhang Xiaoxiao urged. 0

"Okay." Xiao Liang nodded and didn't say anything further. 0

Noticing that Xiao Liang was shivering from the cold, Zhang Xiaoxiao took off her hat and placed it on his head. 0

"Sister-in-law, you should wear it yourself. You're weak; if you get cold, Brother Guangcai will worry," Xiao Liang said. 0

"I'm fine; just wear it properly," Zhang Xiaoxiao insisted. 0

"Alright then," Xiao Liang said. 0

Seeing this, Zhao Guangcai gave his hat to Zhang Xiaoxiao and carried the deer himself as the three of them headed down the mountain together. 0

After descending, Zhao Guangcai took Xiao Liang to see a doctor, with Zhang Xiaoxiao accompanying them. 0

Xiao Liang's injuries were not serious; they were just superficial wounds. 0

"Xiao Liang, if those kids bully you again in the future, just tell your sister, and she'll help you teach them a lesson," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0

"Sister-in-law, I'm fine. It doesn't hurt," Xiao Liang replied. 0

"Silly boy, whether it hurts or not, you have to say something," Zhang Xiaoxiao said. 0

"Okay, I understand," Xiao Liang obediently responded. 0

"Xiao Liang is really good," Zhang Xiaoxiao said as she patted his head. 0

Xiao Liang looked at Zhang Xiaoxiao and felt warm inside. He thought his sister-in-law was really nice, even better than his own mother. 0

From then on, whenever he had free time, Xiao Liang would run over to Zhang Xiaoxiao's house, treating her as the person he trusted the most. 0

After hearing Zhang Xiaoxiao's account, Chen Shuying was filled with guilt for Xiao Liang. She had thought that with so many friends in the village, he wouldn't feel lonely, but she had forgotten about the bullying issues among children. 0

When she and Wang Changgui were still in the village, Xiao Liang would often complain at home about being bullied by this uncle's son or that aunt's daughter. At that time, she scolded Xiao Liang for being unreasonable, thinking that other kids were always accommodating him; why did he keep complaining? 0

Now that she thought about it, those kids must have gotten used to bullying Xiao Liang, which was why he acted that way. And since she and Wang Changgui had left the village to work, leaving Xiao Liang behind, it was no wonder he was bullied. 0

The more Chen Shuying thought about it, the deeper her sense of guilt for Xiao Liang became. Why did she marry Wang Changgui in the first place? Did he have any other merits besides being handsome? 0

The more she pondered, the more she felt she had been blind; how could she have fallen in love with Wang Changgui back then? 0
