"Who are you?" Inspector Li Cai'e asked arrogantly.
"She is the inspector sent by the Textile Factory in town, Li Cai'e," the village chief introduced.
"Oh, it's Inspector Wang. My apologies," Chen Shuying replied politely.
"Don't give me that nonsense; I'm here to evaluate you," Li Cai'e said dismissively.
"I understand. May I ask what questions you have?" Chen Shuying responded with restraint.
"What qualifications do you have to work at the Textile Factory?" Li Cai'e questioned critically.
"I..." Chen Shuying began to defend herself.
"What do you mean 'I'? You're a divorced woman with a child; what can you do?" Li Cai'e pressed.
"I..." Chen Shuying hesitated again.
"I warn you, if you go to the Textile Factory, don't even think about slacking off," Li Cai'e warned.
"I know," Chen Shuying said quietly.
"That's good to hear," Li Cai'e snorted coldly.
"Inspector Li, Chen Shuying was recommended for the position at the Textile Factory; it has nothing to do with the village," the village chief interjected in defense.
"Yes, Inspector Li, Chen Shuying was specially approved by the Textile Factory; our village did not recommend her," Captain echoed.
"What do you mean by that?" Li Cai'e asked displeased.
"We just want to inform you that Chen Shuying is specifically wanted by the Textile Factory; don't go too far," the village chief said sternly.
"I..." Li Cai'e was momentarily speechless.
"Inspector Li, don't forget that this time the Textile Factory has given our village two spots; if you go too far, we will give the other spot to someone else," Captain threatened.
"You dare," Li Cai'e said angrily.
"Let's see if we dare," the village chief replied assertively.
"You... you're bullying people," Li Cai'e complained.
"We're just speaking the truth," Captain snorted coldly.
"You all... hmph." Li Cai'e was so furious she couldn't speak.
"Inspector Li, our villagers are not easy to bully," the village chief warned.
"I... I realize my mistake; I won't target her anymore," Li Cai'e conceded.
"That's more like it," Captain said with satisfaction.
"Shuying, don't be afraid; with us here, she won't dare to do anything to you," the village chief reassured her.
"Thank you, village chief, thank you, Captain," Chen Shuying expressed her gratitude.
"Shuying, since you've already met Inspector Li, you should head back early," the village chief suggested.
"Okay," Chen Shuying nodded in agreement.
"Inspector Li, if you don't mind, you're welcome to come over to my house for a visit," Chen Shuying invited.
"Sure," Li Cai'e readily agreed.
"Then let's go together," Chen Shuying said politely.
"Alright," Li Cai'e nodded in response.
Then, Chen Shuying led Li Cai'e and her coworkers away from the village chief's home.
"Who is that girl?" Li Cai'e asked curiously.
"She is my neighbor, named Zhang Xiaoxiao," Chen Shuying introduced.
"Zhang Xiaoxiao? That's quite an interesting name," Li Cai'e laughed.
"Yes, she has always loved to smile since she was born, so her parents named her Zhang Xiaoxiao," Chen Shuying explained.
"I see," Li Cai'e said, realizing.
"Yes, she is a person who loves to laugh," Chen Shuying smiled.
"She is also quite beautiful," Li Cai'e praised.
"Yes, she is the prettiest girl in our village," Chen Shuying said proudly.
"Does she have a boyfriend?" Li Cai'e asked gossipingly.
"She is already married," Chen Shuying replied.
"Oh, what a pity," Li Cai'e lamented.
"It is quite a pity," Chen Shuying agreed.
"Is Zhang Xiaoxiao's husband good to her?" Li Cai'e asked curiously.
"Yes, he treats her very well," Chen Shuying nodded.
"That's good to hear," Li Cai'e said with relief.
"My house is just ahead," Chen Shuying said.
"You've built a nice house," Li Cai'e complimented.
"It's okay," Chen Shuying modestly replied.
"You must have spent quite a bit on this house," Li Cai'e envied.
"It's not too bad; it was all helped by relatives and friends," Chen Shuying said politely.
"I'm really envious of you," Li Cai'e admitted.
"You will have your own house in the future too," Chen Shuying comforted her.
"I hope so," Li Cai'e said dreamily.
"We've arrived; this is it," Chen Shuying announced.
"This house is really beautiful," Li Cai'e praised again.
"Please come in," Chen Shuying invited.
"Okay," Li Cai'e responded.
Then, they all entered Chen Shuying's home together.
Chen Shuying showed Li Cai'e and her coworkers around her house.
"Chen Shuying, your house is really well built," Li Cai'e admired.
"It's alright," Chen Shuying replied modestly again.
"If you work at the Textile Factory and earn more in the future, you could build another one," Li Cai'e suggested.
"I will work hard for that," Chen Shuying said determinedly.
"You can do it!" Li Cai'e encouraged her.
"I will," Chen Shuying nodded confidently.
"It's getting late; we should head back now," Li Cai'e said.
"Alright, take care on your way back," Chen Shuying said politely.
"Goodbye," Li Cai'e waved and said.
"Goodbye," Chen Shuying replied.
After seeing off Li Cai'e, Chen Shuying let out a sigh of relief.
"Mom, those aunts are so fierce," Xiao Liang said.
"They're not bad people; they just speak a bit loudly," Chen Shuying explained.
"Oh," Xiao Liang responded, confused.
"Xiao Liang, if you have the chance to go to the city in the future, you should speak loudly like those aunts, okay?" Chen Shuying taught.
"Why?" Xiao Liang asked, puzzled.
"Because that's how people in the city are," Chen Shuying said.
"I understand now," Xiao Liang replied obediently.
"Good," Chen Shuying said with satisfaction.
A few days later, Chen Shuying's house was finally repaired.
Chen Shuying moved into the new home with Xiao Liang.
Zhang Xiaoxiao also came to celebrate the housewarming party.
On the way home, Zhang Xiaoxiao ran into Uncle Luo from the village.
"Zhang Xiaoxiao, have you heard if Zhao Guangcai has any new ways to make money recently?" Uncle Luo asked.
"No, why?" Zhang Xiaoxiao replied, puzzled.
"I haven't seen him go hunting in a long time, nor have I seen him buying or selling livestock in town," Uncle Luo said.
"I don't know what he's been busy with lately either," Zhang Xiaoxiao said blankly.
"Why don't you two communicate?" Uncle Luo said helplessly.
"I..." Zhang Xiaoxiao started to explain.
"He has been working on the farm at home and hasn't gone anywhere," Uncle Luo stated.
"He is planning to go far away soon," Zhang Xiaoxiao explained.
