Zhang Xiaoxiao had just arrived at the village entrance when she was surrounded by a group of people.
"Where is Zhao Guangcai?"
"He went to G Province for work," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied honestly.
"Why did he suddenly go to work?"
"He was just sitting around at home with nothing to do, so he wanted to go out and try something new," Zhang Xiaoxiao explained.
"Does he have a job in G Province?"
"Yes," Zhang Xiaoxiao said calmly.
"What kind of job?" the crowd asked curiously.
"He’s working in a factory," Zhang Xiaoxiao fabricated quickly.
"In a factory?" the crowd exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes," Zhang Xiaoxiao nodded.
"How did he find the job?" they wondered.
"He got it through a friend," Zhang Xiaoxiao thought quickly.
"Is his friend in G Province?" they pressed on.
"Yes," Zhang Xiaoxiao confirmed.
"I really envy Zhao Guangcai for being able to find such a good job," someone remarked enviously.
"Exactly, he can work in a factory," others echoed.
"Zhang Xiaoxiao, can you ask your friend to help my husband find a job too?" a woman requested.
"Yeah, can you help our husbands find jobs as well?" others chimed in.
"No," Zhang Xiaoxiao refused.
"Why not?" they asked, puzzled.
"Because Guangcai's job was introduced by a friend, and I can't make that decision," Zhang Xiaoxiao explained.
"Oh, I see," they understood.
"So I can't help you with job introductions," Zhang Xiaoxiao apologized.
"It's okay, we understand," they responded kindly.
"If there's nothing else, I'm going home now," Zhang Xiaoxiao said.
"Alright, you go ahead," they agreed.
Zhang Xiaoxiao pushed through the crowd and walked towards her home. After walking about ten meters, she heard voices behind her.
"If only Guangcai could help my husband find a job too."
"Don't even think about it; why would he help you?"
"Exactly, stop dreaming."
"Sigh, it's just a factory job; the pay is good and it's easy."
"Yeah, I really envy Zhao Guangcai."
Zhang Xiaoxiao listened to the discussions around her and found it somewhat amusing. She had just tricked them; Zhao Guangcai had not found a job at all. She simply didn't want them to pry further, so she made up that excuse. To her surprise, they actually believed her and even envied Zhao Guangcai.
"I really wonder what their reaction would be if they knew the truth," Zhang Xiaoxiao murmured to herself.
"Are you feeling soft-hearted?" the system suddenly spoke up.
"No," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied defiantly.
"Then why did you tell them Zhao Guangcai went to work?" the system questioned.
"I just didn't want them to ask too many questions," Zhang Xiaoxiao explained.
"Is that really all you were thinking?" the system expressed disbelief.
"Of course," Zhang Xiaoxiao affirmed.
"I hope that's true," the system said with a hint of implication.
"Are you going to say I shouldn't give my heart to the villain again?" Zhang Xiaoxiao guessed correctly.
"As long as you know," the system responded with satisfaction.
"I don't need your reminders," Zhang Xiaoxiao retorted stubbornly.
"I'm doing this for your own good," the system said seriously.
"I don't need you to do that for me," Zhang Xiaoxiao pouted.
"You really are like a dog biting Lu Dongbin, unable to recognize a good person's intentions," the system said angrily.
"You are the dog," Zhang Xiaoxiao shot back.
"You are not a dog; you are a pig," the system countered.
"You are the pig," Zhang Xiaoxiao fumed.
"I am a system, not a pig," the system reminded her.
"I don't care; you are still a pig," Zhang Xiaoxiao insisted irrationally.
"You..." the system was at a loss for words.
"What about me?" Zhang Xiaoxiao challenged arrogantly.
"I'm not going to argue with you," the system said, holding back its anger.
"Hmph!" Zhang Xiaoxiao huffed in response.
When Zhang Xiaoxiao returned home and walked into the yard, she was immediately surrounded by five dogs. They grabbed hold of her pant legs and refused to let her go.
Zhang Xiaoxiao was bewildered, not understanding what was happening. "What's wrong with them?" she asked in confusion.
"You ask me? How would I know?" the system replied disdainfully.
"You are the system; you should be able to find out why they are acting like this!" Zhang Xiaoxiao insisted confidently.
"I can't find out," the system refused.
"Is that true?" Zhang Xiaoxiao questioned skeptically.
"I have no reason to lie to you," the system stated calmly.
"What should I do then?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked, distressed.
"You can purchase the Beast Language Translator," the system suggested.
"Purchase the Beast Language Translator?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked in confusion.
"Yes," the system replied.
"If I buy it, will I be able to understand what they are saying?" Zhang Xiaoxiao inquired.
"Yes," the system confirmed.
"Where do I buy it?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked eagerly.
"Buy it from me," the system said proudly.
"Do you have it?" Zhang Xiaoxiao questioned skeptically.
"Of course I do," the system boasted.
"How much is it?" Zhang Xiaoxiao asked.
"It's not expensive, just eight system points," the system replied casually.
"Not expensive? Then sell it to me," Zhang Xiaoxiao retorted sarcastically.
"Are you buying or not?" the system asked impatiently.
"I..." Zhang Xiaoxiao hesitated.
"Are you going to buy or not?" the system asked again.
"I'll buy," Zhang Xiaoxiao said through gritted teeth.
"That's more like it," the system said happily.
"Hurry up and exchange it for me," Zhang Xiaoxiao urged.
"No problem," the system responded readily.
As soon as the system finished speaking, Zhang Xiaoxiao felt something new in her mind.
"Exchange successful, eight system points deducted," the system reminded her.
"I got it," Zhang Xiaoxiao replied.
"Hurry up and communicate with them," the system urged.
"Okay," Zhang Xiaoxiao responded.
