Su Niannian left the restaurant and walked straight to the roadside to hail a taxi, driving away with determination. Throughout it all, she did not look back even once, as if leaving all her anger and sadness behind in that suffocating place. This created an illusion for Zhang Qiang and Lin Ruoxue, making them think she was jealous.
What they did not know was that a true hunter often appears in the guise of prey; in this silent struggle, it was still uncertain who would win or lose. Sitting in the car, Su Niannian tightly closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She felt that she had performed well in this act, at least successfully relaxing Zhang Qiang and Lin Ruoxue's vigilance.
"Hmph. It's good enough that they took the bait!" Su Niannian thought to herself. "To Lijing Hotel in the east of the city," she said, opening her eyes and addressing the driver.
"Okay," the driver replied, starting the car and merging into the bustling traffic.
Meanwhile, in a café, Song Yu sat by the window, quietly gazing outside. The sunlight streamed through the glass, outlining his tall and handsome profile. Opposite him sat a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses and dressed in a suit—his assistant, Wang Anqi.
"Mr. Song, here is what you requested," Assistant Wang said respectfully as he handed a document to Song Yu.
Song Yu took the document, glanced at it, and a slight smile appeared on his lips. "Very good, thank you for your hard work." This document contained evidence of Zhang Qiang and Lin Ruoxue's commercial crimes. In her past life, Su Niannian had been deceived by these two together, which ultimately led to her family's ruin. In this life, she intended to bring them to justice herself!
"Mr. Song, do you really want to help Miss Su?" Assistant Wang hesitated before asking.
"Why? Do you have an opinion?" Song Yu raised his head, his gaze sharp as he looked at Assistant Wang.
"I wouldn't dare," Assistant Wang quickly lowered his head. "I just worry that this matter might affect your reputation and that of the Song family."
"My affairs are not something you should meddle in," Song Yu said coldly. "Just do your job."
"Yes, Mr. Song," Assistant Wang dared not say more and respectfully stepped aside.
Song Yu withdrew his gaze and looked out the window again, a complex expression flashing in his eyes.
Su Niannian, This Life, I will never let you suffer any harm again.
Minutes later, the taxi stopped in front of Lijing Hotel. Su Niannian paid the fare, got out, and walked into the hotel.
"Nian Nian!" As soon as she entered the hotel lobby, she heard Zhang Qiang's voice behind her.
Su Niannian turned around and saw Zhang Qiang running towards her, panting with a face full of anxiety and worry.
"Nian Nian, wait for me!" Zhang Qiang reached her and grabbed her arm.
He spoke urgently, "Don't be angry anymore. I didn't mean it; Li Li and I are really just ordinary friends."
Su Niannian looked at him coldly and forcefully shook off his hand, her eyes filled with disappointment and anger. "Zhang Qiang, how long are you going to keep lying to me?"
"I'm not lying to you; everything I said is true!" Zhang Qiang quickly explained, reaching out to grab Su Niannian's hand again, but she dodged away.
"Zhang Qiang, just go." Su Niannian took a step back and said coldly, "It's over between us."
"Nian Nian, don't do this..." Zhang Qiang wanted to explain further, but Su Niannian had already turned and left.
He stood there alone, his eyes filled with pain and despair.
