City B Jian Chen's family
Jian Chen After school, I was getting ready to do my homework as usual and then wait for Xu Yi to come back for a video call, but today Xu Yi seemed a bit off.
Jian Chen: "Are you back?"
Xu Yi: [Hmm.]
Jian Chen looked at the phone screen, feeling somewhat puzzled. It was their routine to have a video chat every night, and it was a way for them to maintain their relationship. But today, Xu Yi's attitude made him feel something was off.
He tried to send another video request, but Xu Yi refused again. Jian Chen thought maybe Xu Yi accidentally pressed the wrong button, so he decided to try again. However, just as he was about to make the video call, a message came from Xu Yi.
Xu Yi: "No video today, take a good rest."
Upon seeing this message, Jian Chen's doubts grew even stronger. He was well aware that Xu Yi was not someone who easily refused him, and today's unusual behavior made him worry. He wanted to call directly to inquire, but was afraid that doing so would make Xu Yi feel pressured.
Helpless, Jian Chen had to end today's contact according to Xu Yi's wishes. He lay in bed, feeling a mix of emotions, unable to fall asleep for a long time due to his worries and doubts about Xu Yi.
City B Senior Year Class Two
Jian Chen was lying on the table in a daze, obviously looking like he hadn't woken up yet. The surrounding classmates were busy preparing for the next class, but he was still immersed in his dreams.
Last night, Xu Yi's condition had been making Jian Chen somewhat uneasy. There was a hint of discomfort in her words and actions, despite her efforts to hide it, but Jian Chen still noticed. He had tried to share his concerns with Xu Yi, but she interrupted him, citing the need to rest.
"Jian Chen, it's time for class," his desk mate gently nudged him, trying to wake him from his daydream.
Jian Chen rubbed his sleepy eyes, gradually returning to reality. He remembered his conversation with Xu Yi last night, feeling a bit worried.
Today's class seemed unusually long, and Jian Chen listened absentmindedly to the teacher's explanation, his mind constantly replaying his interactions with Xu Yi. He wanted to know what had happened to Xu Yi, but he was afraid of adding to her stress.
The bell for the end of class rang melodiously, and the students began to pack up their bags, preparing to leave the classroom. Jian Chen snapped out of his reverie and looked towards the door, where the teacher was walking towards him.
The teacher had also noticed Jian Chen's absent-mindedness throughout the class and was somewhat concerned. He walked up to Jian Chen's desk, lightly tapped the surface, and looked at Jian Chen with gentle eyes. Jian Chen immediately understood the teacher's intention and silently packed up his books, following the teacher out of the classroom.
They walked to a quiet corridor, and the teacher asked with concern, " Jian Chen, what's wrong with you today? You seem a bit distracted."
Jian Chen hesitated for a moment. He knew that the teacher cared about him, but he didn't want to talk about his love life, so he just said that he had stayed up late playing games the night before and didn't sleep well. The teacher didn't say much, just advised Jian Chen to focus on his studies and to limit entertainment activities like gaming. After that, the teacher left. Jian Chen stood in place, gazing blankly at the sky, his thoughts seemingly drifting away with the floating clouds. Xing Hao noticed his unusual behavior and walked over to him gently.
Xing Hao put his hand on Jian Chen's shoulder and asked in a relaxed tone, "Brother, what's wrong? You've been feeling off all day, drowsy and out of it."
Jian Chen turned to look at Xing Hao and gave a wry smile, "Ah, it's nothing, just didn't sleep well."
Xing Hao patted Jian Chen's shoulder, "Is it because of Xu Yi again?"
Jian Chen fell silent for a moment, then took a deep breath and spoke as if making a decision: "Well, she didn't answer my video call yesterday, and our chat felt a bit distant. I always feel like she's avoiding me."
After listening to Jian Chen's words, Xing Hao fell silent for a moment and then said, "Bro, I don't really understand matters of the heart. But I know that if you don't ask, you'll never know what After all happened."
Upon hearing Xing Hao's words, Jian Chen suddenly felt enlightened. Jian Chen looked at Xing Hao: "Thank you, Xing Hao. You always give me very practical advice."
Xing Hao smiled and said, "Alright, alright, go find your girlfriend."
