City B Jian Chen's family
Jian Chen hurried back home and sat on the chair, anxiously waiting for Xu Yi to return.
City A Xu Yi's home
At 10:30 in the evening, Xu Yi returned home on time, but his face was pale and he looked like he could collapse with a gust of wind.
Xu Yi's mother walked over and brought a cup of cold medicine to Xu Yi, saying worriedly, "How are you feeling today? Any better?" Xu Yi shook his head, sat on the sofa, and finished the remaining capsules. His mother brought a thermometer over and after taking his temperature, it was already 38 degrees. Worriedly, she said, "It's 38 degrees, let's go to the hospital. Your body can't bear it like this." Xu Yi shook his head, indicating that he didn't want to go to the hospital. Unable to persuade Xu Yi, his mother gave him a fever-reducing pill. After taking the medicine, Xu Yi went back to his room to prepare for bed.
Xu Yi had just finished showering and lay in bed, unable to fall asleep due to the pain and discomfort in her body. She tossed and turned, trying to relax and close her eyes, but the discomfort prevented her from sleeping. At that moment, Jian Chen sent a video invitation. As expected, Xu Yi furrowed her brows as she looked at the invitation on her phone screen and chose to decline it. Jian Chen anxiously sent a message, expressing clear concern.
Jian Chen: "What's wrong?"
Jian Chen: "Why aren't you answering again?"
Jian Chen: "Do you have something going on?"
Jian Chen: "Can you reply to my message?"
Jian Chen: "I'm worried!"
The continuous message alerts were giving Xu Yi a headache, but she still took a deep breath and answered Jian Chen's video call. In the instant the video connected, Jian Chen could tell that something was wrong with Xu Yi.
Looking at Xu Yi, Jian Chen noticed that she had lost all color in her face, with a slight frown and a hint of pain and exhaustion in her eyes, clearly feeling unwell. Jian Chen urgently asked, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
There was a deep concern and anxiety in his voice, as if he too were suffering from the same pain. He looked at Xu Yi with eyes filled with concern and urgency, hoping to do something for her, to alleviate her suffering, and provide her with help.
Xu Yi gazed at Jian Chen's concerned expression, a warm current rising in his heart. He knew that Jian Chen was truly concerned about him, and this concern brought him some comfort amidst the pain.
"Yeah, it's a bit uncomfortable." Xu Yi whispered softly.
"What's wrong? Where exactly do you feel uncomfortable?" Jian Chen asked anxiously, wanting to understand more and share some of Xu Yi's pain.
Xu Yi hesitated for a moment, then said, "I have a fever, but I don't want to go to the hospital."
Upon hearing this news, Jian Chen frowned, "How can you not go? Having a fever is not a small matter, you need to go to the hospital right away."
Xu Yi fell silent for a moment, then said, "I just don't want to go. I want to rest at home for a few days."
Jian Chen looked at Xu Yi's determined expression and knew she didn't want to go to the hospital. But he couldn't help but worry, "If you continue like this, your body will collapse."
Xu Yi shook her head slightly, "It's okay, I will take care of myself."
Jian Chen frowned, "Drink more hot water, wear thicker clothes, and also, don't sleep on the table in the future."
Xu Yi nodded and smiled, "Why are you so nagging, just like my mom."
Seeing Xu Yi still able to joke, the heavy stone in Jian Chen's heart finally dropped. He earnestly reminded, "Remember, if I fall asleep on the table again, don't stay with me, don't worry about waking me up, your health is important, got it?"
Xu Yi nodded and replied softly, "Hmm, got it."
Jian Chen sighed and looked at Xu Yi with a concerned and worried expression. He gently asked, "Are you still feeling unwell?"
Xu Yi blinked, "Still a little, but much better than before."
"Get plenty of rest, drink lots of hot water, and don't forget to take your medicine," Jian Chen reminded.
Xu Yi smiled and nodded, "I know."
Seeing Xu Yi's smile, Jian Chen's worries eased slightly. After chatting for a while, Jian Chen reluctantly hung up the phone.
