Perhaps the description of Rao Jie is not quite accurate, but their expressions certainly cannot be described as friendly. Rao Jie is somewhat concerned, but as the atmosphere on the field changes, Rao Jie can no longer tell if they are misreading the situation.
The area centered around Wu Rong is always the most crowded, with Wu Rong being like an exhibit surrounded by onlookers who come to offer compliments. However, it is hard to determine how many of those compliments are sincere; if even one-tenth of them are genuine, that would be a good ratio.
Beside him, Ye Ming is eloquent, but Wu Rong feels utterly bored. He really wants to leave this dreadful place as soon as possible. Just making an appearance should be enough, right? That should count as fulfilling his responsibility!
Wu Rong unconsciously starts to look for Rao Jie, wanting to confirm where she is so he can find an opportunity to leave. But when he sees Rao Jie, the icy smile on his face gradually melts away.
Not far away, Rao Jie is enjoying a light yellow dessert while intently watching the pastry chef make sweets. Her eyes shine brightly; he has never seen her so focused and interested in anything else before. She truly loves it. That excited and happy little expression makes Wu Rong reluctant to call her away so soon.
After thinking for a moment, he decides to wait a little longer. Wu Rong continues to engage with those who come up to discuss academic matters while occasionally glancing over at Rao Jie to change his mood.
However, when he shifts his attention again, he notices someone standing next to Rao Jie. It is Long Yong.
Once all the guests that needed guiding have been taken care of, the students who came to help naturally have time to come in and rest. As soon as Long Yong enters, he spots Rao Jie and quickly walks over with a dessert in hand.
"There you are," Long Yong greets her.
Rao Jie, who is busy biting her spoon and focusing on the making process, suddenly has her thoughts interrupted by Long Yong's voice.
"Senior? You... finished work?" Rao Jie blinks and asks in confusion.
Long Yong smiles and stands beside Rao Jie. "Yes, I have some free time now; I need a break and something to eat. Why aren’t you with Professor Wu?" Long Yong asks tentatively.
Rao Jie chuckles awkwardly and replies, "Actually, I just came here for the dessert; I'm not really Professor Wu's companion. Professor Wu and Director Ye kindly brought me along to enjoy some food."
Long Yong felt a sense of relief in his heart and smiled as he said, "It definitely can't be as delicious as what you make."
Rao Jie shyly scratched his head and looked at the dessert Long Yong was holding, saying, "This one was made by an apprentice over there, so it doesn't taste as good as this." Rao Jie raised the half-eaten dessert in his hand.
Long Yong's eyes were filled with laughter. "Is that so? I'm not picky; I just think it looks nice. You really are more professional. I want to try yours too."
Rao Jie smiled and said, "Sure, you go over there..." as he reached for it.
Before Rao Jie could finish his sentence, Long Yong directly grabbed Rao Jie's hand, pulling the tray closer to himself. He then lowered his head and took a bite of the remaining portion.
"Mm... it really does taste good..." Long Yong said with a happy smile, sticking out his tongue to lick off the cream that had accidentally smeared on the corner of his mouth.
I have to say, the usually gentle and mild senior had an unexpectedly charming impact with that action.
Rao Jie was completely stunned... That was... something she had eaten before.
