In the internet café, I was crying my eyes out over my idol's recent downfall.
The boy sitting next to me suddenly took off his headphones in annoyance. "Hey, can you stop crying? The person isn't dead, so why are you acting so mournful?"
I was taken aback by his words, and my tears stopped immediately. He wore a black cap pulled low, obscuring his face, but I could sense that he must be quite handsome.
I stammered, "S-sorry."
He huffed and put his headphones back on. His screen displayed a game over message, indicating he had just lost again.
So what if he lost? Why take it out on me? I pouted and continued to cry quietly.
Suddenly, a long, fair hand reached over and yanked my headphones off. I looked up in anger, only to meet a pair of cold yet beautiful eyes.
"What are you doing?"
"Hey, if I win the next round, you have to be my man."
He raised an eyebrow, his voice deep and teasing.
I froze, my heart racing, and inexplicably nodded.
The game started, and I was so nervous I could barely breathe, staring intently at the screen. The match was intense, and in the end, he actually won.
Excitedly, I slapped the table and exclaimed, "Welcome to being my man!"
As soon as the words left my mouth, I realized something felt off. Did it seem like I was the one being taken advantage of?
He chuckled lightly. "No need to be polite."
A few men dressed in suits approached us. "Young Master, it's time to go home."
It sounds like a bodyguard.
He crossed his legs and said, "Wait for me to say goodbye to my girlfriend."
As he spoke, he took my hand and walked outside.
Throughout the process, our hands remained tightly clasped.
At the street corner, he released my hand.
"Are you crying because of a breakup?"
"Yeah." I scratched my head awkwardly.
"Do you like me?"
I widened my eyes at him.
Although this was my true feeling, I still found it quite offensive for him to say it so directly.
"Didn't you say you wanted to be my man?"
He leaned in with a mischievous smile and asked, "So are you responsible for me?"
"Responsible?"
"Yeah, for example..."
"Don't worry, I will be responsible for you."
I patted my chest and interrupted him.
He chuckled lightly as if he had heard a joke: "You really are naive and cute."
"Come on, let's go eat something."
He naturally took my hand and led me forward.
"Aren't you going home?"
"Going home is boring; it's better to go on a date with my girlfriend."
He pulled me down to sit at a roadside stall and ordered two servings of fried noodles.
At that moment, a few guys at the next table whistled at us.
"Hey, Xu Zizhao, is this your girlfriend?"
"You've got some skills, hiding a beauty like this."
"Sister, what's your name?"
Xu Zizhao pulled me behind him and calmly said, "Get lost, don't scare my girlfriend."
"Oh, you're protecting her now."
"Xu Zizhao, are you afraid we'll steal your girlfriend?"
I shyly buried my face in the bowl, my ears turning red.
They laughed for a while before leaving.
I mumbled softly, "Who is your girlfriend?"
He reached out and pinched my cheek, saying, "Wasn't it someone who just said they would take responsibility for me?"
"Well... I thought you had a crush on me."
He smiled slightly, "I do have a crush on you, Li Tianyu."
I never expected to see Xu Zizhao again.
Even more surprising was that he would confess to me.
That day we had lunch at a dessert shop.
He rested his chin on his hand and looked at me: "Li Tianyu, you're blushing."
"No way!" I covered my cheeks.
"Your ears are red too."
I decided to cover my ears as well.
He chuckled softly: "You're really cute."
"Do you often stare at people like this?"
"No, I only look at my girlfriend."
I was momentarily speechless, not knowing what to say.
