After watching the movie, he walked me back to the dorm.
I held his hand and said, "I want to stay with you a little longer."
He thought for a moment and asked, "Do you want to join my circle?"
"Your circle?"
"Yeah, my buddies."
"Sure."
He led me into a private room.
Inside, it was smoky, and a group of people were playing cards.
When they saw me enter, everyone turned to look at me.
"Hey, the sister-in-law is here."
"Good evening, sister-in-law."
"You look so beautiful, sister-in-law."
I felt a bit shy and quietly replied, "Hello, everyone."
Xu Zizhao leaned in and whispered in my ear, "They're all my buddies; you don't need to be so formal."
I nodded.
Someone started shuffling the cards.
Xu Zizhao asked me, "Do you know how to play cards?"
I shook my head and said, "No."
"Then I'll teach you."
"Okay."
I sat on his lap and watched him play cards.
But I couldn't concentrate at all.
Because... his chest muscles were really hard.
I couldn't help but poke at them.
He grabbed my finger and said, "Don't touch randomly."
I obediently pulled my hand back.
One of his buddies laughed and said, "Sister-in-law, Ah Zhao won't go easy on you; you have to be careful."
I was unconvinced: "Who said I would let him win?"
"That's good."
As a result, I lost five rounds in a row.
Xu Zizhao's friend laughed, "Sister-in-law, Ah Zhao is known for being cunning; you shouldn't compete with him."
I looked at Xu Zizhao with a pitiful expression.
He smiled and whispered in my ear, "Silly, you should play this card."
I followed his advice and played the card he suggested, and sure enough, I won a round.
Xu Zizhao's friend wailed, "Ah Zhao, you actually let your sister-in-law win!"
Xu Zizhao raised an eyebrow and said, "She's my girlfriend; if I don't let her win, should I let you?"
I made an excuse to go to the restroom to temporarily escape the card game.
When I returned, there was an additional girl in the private room.
I remembered her; she was the legendary Senior Sister and one of Xu Zizhao's admirers.
She stood next to Xu Zizhao, seemingly saying something to him while he appeared indifferent, casually playing cards.
Eventually, her face turned red, and she turned to leave.
Before she left, she glanced at me and said, "He's just playing around; don't get too proud."
Just playing around?
I couldn't help but look at Xu Zizhao.
He was looking at me too.
Our eyes met, and my heart raced; I quickly averted my gaze.
He smiled and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
He withdrew his gaze and continued playing cards.
I bit on my straw, lost in thought.
Were Xu Zizhao and I really just playing?
But I clearly liked him a lot.
He should like me too, right?
Otherwise, why would he be my boyfriend?
But I always felt that something was off.
After the game ended, Xu Zizhao drove me back to school.
Sitting in the car, I finally couldn't help but ask, "Have you ever had a girlfriend?"
"Yeah, just one."
"I don't believe that."
How could he have only had one girlfriend?
He chuckled, "Does liking someone mean you have to agree?"
I was left speechless.
He then asked, "How did you know I'm a sophomore?"
"I found out on the school forum."
"I see."
After a moment of silence, he suddenly said, "Li Tianyu, that's quite a unique name."
The car stopped at the school gate.
The streetlights were dim, and the air was filled with the scent of flowers, creating a suddenly delicate atmosphere.
I licked my lips and deliberately said in a cheerful tone, "Why don't you kiss me?"
As soon as I said it, I regretted it.
Oh no, what am I saying?
I wanted to bite my tongue off.
"Ahem, um..." I tried to recover.
He raised his hand and flicked my chin.
"Uh..." I held my chin tightly and glared at him, "What are you doing?"
"Just being silly," he teased.
I tried to pull away, but he pressed down on my shoulder and said softly, "Don't move, let me massage it for you."
He leaned closer, his breath enveloping me.
