The noise from outside had long since reached inside the house. With so many people around, Mo Xier truly lacked the courage to go out and could only silently lean against the door, carefully listening to the commotion outside.
Night Star was equally unyielding. No matter how sternly Old Madam spoke, he remained unfazed and lifted his foot to head towards the courtyard.
"Someone! Stop him! If anyone lets him into this courtyard, they will be at odds with me! They might as well leave the General's residence!"
As soon as these words were spoken, the guards who had been hesitating began to stir, continuously tightening their encirclement.
"Rong Mama, take people inside and drag that Demoness out for me!"
"Yes!" Following the order, Rong Mama became even more arrogant. With a wave of her hand, several maidservants who accompanied her quickly headed towards the courtyard.
"Who dares!" Night Star could no longer hold back and shouted loudly, "If anyone dares to step into my courtyard today, I will ensure their head rolls!"
His venomous gaze locked onto Rong Mama, startling her into a shiver. Even Step couldn't help but stop, glancing nervously at Old Madam, pleading for a hint with his eyes.
However, Old Madam fixed her gaze on Night Star, her eyes seeming to want to swallow him whole!
"Mother, there must be some misunderstanding regarding today's events. Why not let me go in and ask?"
"Misunderstanding? What a good excuse! I see you have already been bewitched by that Demoness! What else is there to ask?" Old Madam stubbornly refused to relent.
His hands hanging by his side gradually tightened. He understood that today would definitely involve some entanglement.
"Fine, even if she is a Demoness, does it require so many people to deal with one woman? I am a general; is it necessary to mobilize so many to subdue a single woman? It would be a joke if this got out."
"You also said she is a Demoness; how can she be compared to an ordinary woman? Mother is doing this for your own good!"
Old Madam seemed to speak with reason, leaving him utterly powerless to refute her.
“Rong Mama! What are you waiting for? Hurry up and drag that Demoness out of the room! I want to see how long she can hide!”
With a command from Old Madam, the previously hesitant Rong Mama sprang into action, rushing into the courtyard with her maid.
Just as they were about to reach the door, Night Star could no longer hold back. He flipped over and stood in front of everyone.
His tall figure blocked the doorway completely, casting a shadow over them. His voice was chillingly cold, filled with a hellish indifference, “Anyone who dares to take another step forward should be careful of their head!”
This act of protection came instinctively to Night Star, and it provoked Old Madam to nearly jump in anger. She pointed at him, her eyes blazing with fury, “You wretched creature! Don’t mind him! Get that Demoness out here!”
However, no one moved. Both sides had their masters, individuals who could not be offended, leaving the servants in a difficult position.
Just as the standoff continued, the door suddenly creaked open.
Mo Xier appeared, looking haggard. Her red eyes clearly showed she had been crying, but everyone’s attention was drawn to her head full of White Hair.
Now more striking than when only the tips had been white, she looked even more bizarre. Clearly a Young Woman, yet sporting pale hair that made her seem anything but normal.
Everyone in the courtyard fell silent; it was their first time seeing such a woman—hair like snow—leaving them too astonished to react.
“No need to shout; I’ll come out myself.”
Mo Xier appeared calm, but only she knew how anxious she truly felt. It took immense courage and control for her to present herself before everyone without showing her inner turmoil.
“What are you doing out here?” Night Star lowered his voice, looking at the fragile woman before him. A sudden sense of pity stirred within him.
As their eyes met, the concern in the man’s gaze was unmistakable, warming Mo Xier’s heart.
Though she had previously called him a cold-blooded monster, seeing that look made her feel that she wasn’t entirely alone here; at least he was still by her side.
Unconsciously, she reached out and tugged at his clothing, slowly revealing a smile. "You're speaking up for me; how could I not come out?"
As she spoke, she patted him on the shoulder like a brother, her eyes filled with admiration. Then she continued, "I didn't expect that you would be so loyal at a critical moment. You're a friend worth having."
What time is it now? This woman still has the mood to say this?
Night Star couldn't help but silently complain, giving her a glare as he stepped forward, standing protectively in front of her.
"Now that the person is out, Mother must have sent everyone away," he said, his sharp gaze sweeping over the crowd, causing the guards to take a few steps back.
"Demoness! How dare you show your face here?"
"I am not a Demoness, so why should I be afraid?" With Night Star by her side, she felt unusually confident, staring directly into Old Madam's eyes without any hesitation.
"With all that White Hair! How can you claim you're not a Demoness! If you're not a Demoness, then who in this world is?"
All of this was because of her hair. Recalling the first time she met Night Star, she suddenly realized the importance of hair.
"What if I have White Hair? Isn't Old Matron sixty years old with a head full of White Hair?" Mo Xier argued passionately, completely ignoring the astonished gazes around her.
"Hmph." Old Madam chuckled lightly, filled with disdain. "You know she's sixty years old; have you ever seen a Young Woman with a head full of White Hair!"
"Why not? Am I not one?" Mo Xier straightened her neck and boldly made this statement, causing everyone present to stifle their laughter. This woman really said whatever came to her mind.
Even Night Star couldn't help but facepalm. Was her brain not functioning properly?
Hearing this, Old Madam became even angrier, her eyes turning white with rage. She stumbled backward but fortunately, Rong Mama was quick enough to steady her.
"You! You good-for-nothing Demoness! Just wait and see how I deal with you!" With that, she forcefully pushed away Rong Mama's hand and grabbed a stick from one of the guards, ready to strike at Mo Xier.
Mo Xier was not foolish; she naturally knew how to dodge, especially with Night Star standing in front of her. Old Madam could not harm her in the slightest.
A man grabbed Jiang Yu's wrist, positioning himself protectively and said in a deep voice, "Mother, it's better to let this go. You should know you are no match for your son."
"Are you determined to protect this Demoness?"
Old Madam fixed her gaze on him, filled with hatred, her eyes revealing no hint of concealment, which made him feel somewhat gloomy.
After just a second of hesitation, he made up his mind. "Mother, my decision will not change."
"Good! Truly my good son!" Old Madam suddenly laughed twice, closed her eyes, and fainted backward, dropping the wooden stick. Night Star immediately rushed to catch her.
"What are you all standing there for? Can't you see Old Madam has fainted? Hurry and call a doctor!"
For a moment, everyone was stunned and did not react to what had happened until Night Star's shout brought them back to their senses. After a brief panic, no one paid attention to Mo Xier anymore.
Watching everything unfold before her, Mo Xier felt a twinge of guilt. If it weren't for her presence, the general's residence wouldn't be in such chaos.
Although this old lady was somewhat annoying, she did not genuinely wish to harm her; perhaps it was just to protect her son. Such maternal love was something she could understand.
"Stay here. You are not allowed to go anywhere until your hair returns to normal! Do you understand? I will have Ru Er stay behind to take care of you." He glanced at her complexion and added, "With me here."
The last three words, though simple, offered her a promise, as if a warm current flowed through her heart, bringing waves of warmth.
Looking at the suddenly empty courtyard, she felt a bit desolate. Just as she turned to head back inside, she heard a weak voice nearby. "Miss..."
Turning around, she saw Ru Er timidly standing behind her, hesitant to step forward.
Slowly smiling, Mo Xier paused and asked, "What is it?"
"Young Master... Young Master, let me stay and take care of you." Looking at her eyes, Ru Er couldn't help but take a few steps back, not daring to approach.
Mo Xier, on the other hand, appeared calm and did not step forward. Instead, she softly asked, "Are you afraid?"
Ru Er did not respond, but her silence was the best answer.
Shrugging her shoulders, the woman pretended to be indifferent as she stroked her hair. "It's okay; you can stay outside." With a self-deprecating smile, she continued, "Besides, I won't hurt you, so there's no need to be afraid."
After saying that, she no longer looked at Ru Er and turned to enter the room, leaving the door wide open and ignoring everyone. After all, having already endured so many discriminatory gazes, why would she care about one more?
Ru Er hesitated outside for a long time but finally mustered the courage to slowly step into the room and softly explained, "Miss, I'm not afraid of you; it's just that I've never seen anyone like you before."
Mo Xier lightly acknowledged her words without caring much. She sat quietly in front of the mirror, gazing at her reflection.
While things calmed down here, Old Madam was far from peaceful. The sudden fainting spell threw the entire General's residence into chaos.
The news of a White-Haired Woman in the General's residence spread almost instantly throughout the capital, sparking discussions among everyone.
Night Star's emergency measures were effective; Old Madam received timely treatment, and those rumors vanished overnight.
It seemed like just a gust of wind had stirred up a few ripples before everything returned to calm.
When he settled everything and returned to his courtyard, the lights inside were still on. Mo Xier sat there in front of the mirror, one hand supporting her chin while the other twirled her White Hair. Her bored demeanor made him want to laugh a little.
