Life for people is a monotonous cycle, repeating thousands of times in a day or remaining the same for years.
That morning, Jiang Yu arrived at school as usual, early as always. Upon entering the classroom, she was surprised to find Xiang Yu had arrived even earlier than her. She asked in astonishment, "Why did you come to school so early today?"
Xiang Yu glanced at her, then looked up at Jiang Yu for a moment before lowering his head to continue writing furiously. "I had too much fun yesterday and forgot to do my homework, so I came this morning to catch up."
Jiang Yu nodded upon hearing this response. "Oh."
"What about you? Why do you come here so early every day?" Xiang Yu asked.
"I definitely came early to prepare for class," Jiang Yu replied.
Xiang Yu was quite surprised by this and looked up at Jiang Yu, asking curiously, "Why are you working so hard? Is it to get into a good university and then find a good job?"
"Isn't that the point?" Jiang Yu responded, feeling puzzled.
Xiang Yu looked at Jiang Yu's face and said seriously, "Making money isn't just about going to a good university, although it does make things a bit easier."
Just as they were talking, a cold laugh interrupted their conversation, and a boy walked in from outside. With a mocking expression, he said to his sidekick, "The world has really changed; now even the most insignificant people think they can make money just by attending some mediocre university."
Upon hearing this, Xiang Yu frowned and looked up to see that the newcomer was Chen Jinwei, one of Hu Haoping's lackeys. This person was uneducated and only got into the school because of his wealthy father. He was merely there to obtain a diploma and continued to act arrogantly in school.
Xiang Yu glared at Chen Jinwei, his eyes filled with killing intent.
Chen Jinwei was startled and quickly took a few steps back. Then, he forced himself to sound imposing and said, "You better watch out, I'll get my older brother to deal with you, and then you'll know your mistake."
Xiang Yu replied nonchalantly, "Who is your older brother, just another insignificant lackey?"
"I'll scare you to death if I tell you, my big brother is Hu Haoping from Beizhi University," Chen Jinwei said proudly.
Hearing that name, Xiang Yu couldn't help but laugh. "I thought it was someone important, turns out it's just that little lackey. Tell him if he doesn't come to apologize to me, I'll break his legs."
Chen Jinwei was taken aback by this and thought to himself: Could this guy have someone backing him? But even if he does, it won't matter unless he can get Master Xiang involved, which seems unlikely. He then made a bold statement: "You better not leave after school today at the gate; I'll have my big brother deal with you."
Hearing this, Xiang Yu said lightly, "Just don't kneel down and call me 'Grandpa' when the time comes. Now get lost." Chen Jinwei retorted, "Who knows who will be calling whom 'Grandpa' then?" After saying that, he quickly fled the scene.
Time always slips away unnoticed, and as the sun gradually set in the west, the afterglow painted the clouds at the horizon a brilliant red. The fiery clouds were indeed beautiful, but at this moment, the evening glow carried a sense of solemnity.
When the school bell rang to signal the end of classes, students rushed out of the campus like wild horses breaking free. The campus gradually fell silent. All the classrooms instantly became empty, except for Jiang Yu and her friend, who remained in the classroom and had not yet left.
Jiang Yu nervously rubbed her hands together. She tugged at Xiang Yu's sleeve and said with a trembling voice, "Maybe you shouldn't go. I'm afraid you might be in danger."
Xiang Yu looked at Jiang Yu's anxious expression and chuckled, teasing, "What's wrong? Are you afraid you'll get hurt too, or are you worried I'll get injured?"
Hearing this, Jiang Yu felt a bit angry and punched Xiang Yu lightly in frustration, saying, "That's not it! I won't care about you anymore!"
"Alright, alright, I won't tease you anymore. Don't worry, neither of us will be in any trouble," Xiang Yu comforted.
Jiang Yu followed Xiang Yu out of the classroom, trembling with fear. Just as they reached the school gate, they were surrounded by Hu Haoping and his group. Chen Jinwei stepped forward and arrogantly said, "So, how is it? Are you scared? If you're scared, just bow to me and apologize, and I'll forgive you."
Xiang Yu glanced at Chen Jinwei and replied coolly, "You aren't qualified to talk to me. Have Hu Haoping come over to see me."
Hu Haoping spoke up, "Who is calling my name directly?"
Xiang Yu replied, "It's me, what's the matter?"
Hu Haoping was about to retort, but upon closer inspection, he realized it was Xiang Yu. His attitude made a complete turnaround; just a moment ago he had been arrogant, and now he became extremely respectful.
Chen Jinwei was so shocked by Hu Haoping's actions that his jaw nearly dropped to the ground. He quickly tugged at Hu Haoping's sleeve and whispered, "Brother Hao, what are you doing? He's just a little brat; you could take care of him in an instant."
Upon hearing this, Hu Haoping glanced at Xiang Yu, fearing that Xiang Yu might overhear. He then raised his hand and slapped Chen Jinwei, saying, "Idiot! This is Xiang Yu, Master Xiang! How dare you hit him?"
"He's Xiang Yu?" Upon hearing that name, Chen Jinwei's legs went weak, and he fell to his knees with a thud. He then repeatedly begged for mercy, saying, "So you're Brother Yu! Brother Yu, please have mercy and forgive me just this once."
Xiang Yu glanced at Chen Jinwei and said, "Weren't you just being very arrogant? Didn't you say you were going to kill me?"
"No, no, how could I dare?" Chen Jinwei replied with a flattering expression.
"Oh? I remember you didn't say it that way just now. And didn't you just say you were going to kill me?" Xiang Yu said with a teasing look.
"That's not how it happened; you must be mistaken, Brother Yu," Chen Jinwei said with a forced smile as he stepped forward.
"Am I mistaken? Fine then, apologize to that girl and promise you won't do it again. This time, I'll let you off the hook," Xiang Yu said calmly.
"Alright, alright," Chen Jinwei hurriedly agreed. He then bowed deeply to Jiang Yu and loudly said he was sorry. After that, he glanced at Xiang Yu, who noticed his gaze. After a moment of silence, Xiang Yu nodded and gestured for him to leave. Seeing Xiang Yu's expression, Chen Jinwei quickly ran away.
Hu Haoping saw that Chen Jinwei had already left, so he could only take his younger brothers and leave. Jiang Yu watched their figures gradually fade away and let out a sigh of relief. Xiang Yu glanced at Jiang Yu's expression of relief and couldn't help but laugh.
Noticing Xiang Yu's expression, Jiang Yu asked in confusion, "What are you laughing at? Is there something on my face?"
Xiang Yu shook his head and said, "It's nothing. I just think you look really good."
Jiang Yu, hearing this, punched Xiang Yu playfully and said, "Are you in the mood to joke around? You just scared me!"
Xiang Yu patted Jiang Yu's shoulder and replied, "I told you it would be fine. See, I wasn't lying to you, was I?"
Jiang Yu glanced at Xiang Yu and said, "Yes, yes, yes, you are really impressive."
"Let's go, it's time to head home." With that, Xiang Yu casually waved his hand and turned to leave.
Watching Xiang Yu's departing figure, Jiang Yu shouted a thank you. Xiang Yu simply waved his hand dismissively in response and disappeared at the school gate.
Jiang Yu straightened out his clothes and headed towards home. The sky at this moment was dyed a deep red by the setting sun, and it also dyed Jiang Yu's face a rosy red.
