Jing City, a high-tech replica of the ancient city from the Golden Age, gathers talented individuals from different times and spaces. Among them is Ji Zhenyan, who has come for a prize that could change her destiny.
"What can a million do?"
The man beside Ji Zhenyan spoke with indifference, but his words surprised her. After all, he is Gu Yan Shen, the second-in-command of SDS Company in the future world. Time is far more precious to him than money.
Ji Zhenyan casually glanced at him and replied, "A lot, like buying a house, a car, or traveling around the world..."
"Ha," he chuckled lightly, his tone carrying a hint of barely perceptible sarcasm. "Vulgar."
As the competition began, Ji Zhenyan followed her plan and used her few initial coins to take over a nearly bankrupt Arcade. Meanwhile, Gu Yan Shen chose a fishing rod and sat by the lake, as if on vacation.
Ji Zhenyan raised an eyebrow but did not argue. Whether vulgar or dreamlike, everyone has their own pursuits; why judge others by one's own standards? She withdrew her gaze and turned to enter the Arcade, preparing for the upcoming challenge.
Gu Yan Shen sat by the lake, letting the sunlight fall on him, squinting slightly as if truly enjoying this moment of tranquility. However, the fishing rod in his hand remained motionless; clearly, his mind was not on fishing.
"Mr. Gu, what are you doing..." A well-dressed man approached with a hint of confusion in his tone.
Gu Yan Shen slowly opened his eyes and turned to look at the newcomer, a meaningful smile curling at the corners of his mouth. "Fishing, can't you tell?"
The man paused for a moment before quickly responding with a forced smile, "I can see that, I can see that. Mr. Gu has such great enthusiasm."
"Ha ha," Gu Yan Shen chuckled softly and fell silent again, his gaze returning to the calm surface of the lake. He was certainly not there to fish; time was precious, and he would not waste it on something so meaningless. He was observing—observing the city, its people, and potential opportunities within it.
Meanwhile, Ji Zhenyan's Arcade officially opened for business. To attract customers, she placed several state-of-the-art VR Gaming Consoles at the entrance and launched promotional activities. As expected, the novel gaming experience and attractive prices drew many people to stop and watch.
"Boss, how do you play this game?" A young man pointed at the VR Gaming Console, asking curiously.
Ji Zhenyan smiled and walked over to patiently explain, "It's simple; put on this headset to enter a virtual world and experience immersive gaming fun."
With her guidance, the young man tried out a VR game and quickly became captivated, unable to pull himself away from the virtual world.
"This is so cool! This game feels so real!" The young man exclaimed excitedly as he took off the headset.
His words attracted more attention; those who were previously hesitant rushed into the Arcade, eager to experience this novel game. Business at the Arcade suddenly boomed.
"Boss, let me play another round!"
"I want to play too!"
"Give me a membership card!"
Watching the steady stream of customers, Ji Zhenyan wore a satisfied smile. It seemed that his choice was not wrong; in this era, people sought novelty and excitement, and games just happened to meet their needs.
Gu Yan Shen observed the bustling Arcade, a slight smile appearing at the corners of his mouth. He had noticed this Arcade long ago and had also paid attention to the owner's business strategies. One must admit, this young man from 300 years ago was quite clever and insightful.
"Interesting," he murmured to himself, a glimmer of appreciation flashing in his eyes.
As the sun set and night fell, the Arcade's business remained booming. Ji Zhenyan looked at the busy employees and the customers waiting in line, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
At that moment, Gu Yan Shen had already put away his fishing rod and stood up to leave. He did not rush back but instead strolled through the night market, savoring the vibrant atmosphere of the city.
Two completely different business approaches, two entirely different attitudes towards life—who would ultimately come out on top was still unknown. But one thing was certain: this competition would only become more exciting.
