Su Xingchen hurriedly ran to the restroom and let out a long sigh. "Phew, finally escaped a disaster." She tidied her messy hair in front of the mirror.
At that moment, a sound of flushing came from the adjacent stall, followed by the sound of leather shoes tapping on the floor. Su Xingchen paid no mind and continued to touch up her makeup.
"Su Xingchen, what are you doing here?" A voice filled with hostility came from behind her.
Su Xingchen turned around to see Lin Yuwei standing in front of her with her arms crossed, a look of disdain on her face. Lin Yuwei was tall and fair-skinned, wearing a white lace dress that made her appear even more striking and elegant. However, the proud expression on her face made Su Xingchen uncomfortable.
"Why can't I be here?" Su Xingchen raised an eyebrow and retorted defiantly.
"Hmph, don't think I don't know what you're thinking." Lin Yuwei sneered. "You want to attract Brother Zi'ang's attention with such clumsy tricks to skip class? How ridiculous!"
Su Xingchen rolled her eyes; this Lin Yuwei was truly narcissistic to a certain extent. Did she think she was close to Lu Ziang? What a joke!
"Lin Yuwei, you're overthinking it," Su Xingchen said impatiently. "I simply don't want to attend physics class; it has nothing to do with your Brother Zi'ang."
"You!" Lin Yuwei was so enraged by her words that her face turned pale, pointing at Su Xingchen's nose but unable to say anything for a while.
"Also," Su Xingchen brushed aside Lin Yuwei's hand and continued, "I advise you not to keep calling him 'Brother Zi'ang' in front of me; it's making my ears sore! If someone didn't know better, they might think you two are siblings!"
After saying that, Su Xingchen deliberately looked Lin Yuwei up and down, her eyes filled with mockery.
Lin Yuwei trembled with anger but found herself powerless against Su Xingchen. Just then, Lin Yuwei's eyes shifted as a plan formed in her mind.
"Su Xingchen, I heard you signed up for the school's stage play?" Lin Yuwei crossed her arms, a sly smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
"Yeah, so what?" Su Xingchen replied, unsure of what she was up to and watching her warily.
"I heard you're going to be acting opposite Brother Zi'ang?" Lin Yuwei pressed on, her tone filled with provocation.
Su Xingchen frowned, a sense of unease creeping into her mind. "What do you want to say?"
"I don't think you're suited for the role of the female lead," Lin Yuwei said as she stepped closer to Su Xingchen, lowering her voice. "Your image and temperament simply don't match Brother Zi'ang."
"So?" Su Xingchen forced down her anger and looked at her coldly.
"I want to compete with you for the role of the female lead!" Lin Yuwei declared, each word dripping with challenge.
"Just you?" Su Xingchen couldn't help but laugh. "You think you deserve it?"
"Don't get too smug!" Lin Yuwei snapped, anger flaring. "The director of this stage play is a friend of my dad's. With just one word from me, the role of the female lead will be mine!"
"Oh really?" Su Xingchen scoffed lightly. "We'll see about that!"
"Good, that's what you said!" Lin Yuwei replied confidently. "Let's see how this plays out!"
With that, Lin Yuwei strutted out of the restroom.
Su Xingchen watched her retreating figure, her gaze gradually becoming resolute. "Then let's wait and see," she murmured to herself, a glint of cunning in her eyes.
