I lived with Sun Yunfei for three years. We never kissed, and occasionally shared a bed. It wasn't until I saw him being intimate with his female secretary, freely entering and exiting his private space, that I realized my position had been replaced. So, I left quietly.
I sent Sun Yunfei a text: "I'm going back home to get married. Please don't contact me again."
After seeing off my blind date, I spotted Sun Yunfei. He stood across the street, staring at me for a long time. Finally, he took long strides toward me. However, he could no longer maintain his usual calm demeanor. His brows were furrowed with an ominous shadow as if a storm was approaching.
He fixed his gaze on me, his voice hoarse: "Yuhui, do you have nothing to explain to me?"
"What is there to explain?"
He gritted his teeth: "What does he have that I don't? How is he better than me?"
I looked at him, momentarily speechless. Ever since he saved me when I was eighteen, I had regarded him as my savior. But now, I was tired.
I didn't answer his question; I simply said, "I wish you happiness."
With that, I turned and walked away. The heavy rain poured down on me, countless raindrops crashing against my body. Sun Yunfei stood in the rain, shouting at me: "Yuhui, once you leave, don't come back!"
At the entrance of the company, heavy rain poured down.
My colleague Tonna leaned closer to me, tilting the umbrella in my direction:
"Sister Yu, I'll walk you home."
The girl under the umbrella smiled brightly, her eyes seemingly filled with little stars.
I chuckled, "Tonna, there should be limits to being infatuated."
Her face flushed: "Oh, Sister Yu, everyone has a desire to be beautiful. I must say Mr. Sun is really handsome, gentle and refined, courteous and polite..."
She paused her tone and winked at me:
"And he’s so young yet possesses billions in assets; he’s simply perfect. If I could marry someone like that, I would wake up smiling from my dreams."
I followed her gaze.
At the entrance of the company, Sun Yunfei held a black umbrella, standing tall.
Next to him stood a young girl in a professional outfit, looking quite attractive.
Tonna covered her mouth: "Oh, isn’t that Secretary Lin? She wouldn’t be the future Mrs. Sun, would she?"
I withdrew my gaze, my expression calm:
"Tonna, do you want to try my car?"
Tonna looked horrified: "Sister Yu, I can’t possibly handle your second-hand junk car. I’m afraid of getting pulled over by the traffic police and then being scammed out of a hundred or eighty bucks."
I smiled and said nothing.
Tonna lived along the same route as me. When we reached the entrance of the community, I parked to let her get out.
She held the umbrella and turned back three times: "Sister Yu, are you sure you don’t want me to walk you inside?"
I shook my head. "No need."
She jogged away.
I looked up at the apartment buildings, my gaze landing on the fifth one.
The light was on in the window to the right on the fifth floor.
I pressed my lips together.
Sun Yunfei was cooking.
He looked gentle and harmless in his light-colored loungewear, completely different from the cold ruthlessness he displayed in the business world.
Seeing me return, his expression softened, and a smile played at the corners of his lips. "Go wash your hands; dinner will be ready soon."
I lowered my gaze, staring at my toes.
A wave of inexplicable resistance rose from deep within me.
Was it because of Lin Li?
Or was it because of myself?
I stood there in a daze for a moment before finally lifting my foot to walk towards him.
When I came out of the bathroom, Sun Yunfei was waiting outside the door.
His brow was slightly furrowed, concern evident in his eyes.
I felt at a loss, unsure how to face him, so I chose to ignore him and brushed past him.
He grabbed my wrist tightly, as if trying to leave a mark.
I sensed he wanted to ask something, but before he could speak, I took the initiative:
"Sun Yunfei, your kiss can only belong to me."
With that, I stood on my tiptoes and kissed him.
Sun Yunfei stiffened for a moment before taking control.
He pushed me back into the bathroom, where the humid air was filled with an ambiguous atmosphere.
