While Ding Weiwei was discussing her ideals with Zhang Yang, Dayong was at the hospital delivering food to Li Yifeng, who was lying in bed receiving an IV drip.
Li Yifeng's surgery went relatively well, and he was able to save his middle finger. His parents ran a ramen shop in the West District and were usually busy. Li Yifeng, an Athletic Specialization Student, had lied to his family, saying he was going to Lin City for a competition, and they did not suspect anything. Additionally, Li Yifeng collected protection fees at school and had saved enough money to cover his medical expenses.
"If I don't take revenge for this, I won't be worthy of the Li surname!" He initially wanted to hit the bed hard but with his right hand bandaged and his left hand receiving an IV, he could only kick the bed lightly with his right foot in frustration.
"Brother Feng, this guy is incredible; eight people couldn't take him down. How can we get revenge? Should we call the police?" Dayong still felt shaken.
"What does it matter if there were eight people? If they can't fight, it doesn't matter how many there are. He probably learned a few moves recently. Calling the police would be useless; if I could have reported it, I would have done so without hiding it from my family. Besides, we were the ones who started it first and we had a weapon!" Li Yifeng replied.
"I need to find my cousin and let this kid know what a true fighter is!"
Li Yifeng's cousin was no ordinary thug; he was nicknamed Black Wolf and was a well-known figure in Haizhou City's West District, associated with the local boss known as Black Ghost. Black Ghost controlled numerous businesses, and those who followed him held high status, including the Four Great Guardians.
The name "Guardian" sounds impressive at first glance but seems somewhat silly when considered in modern society; even sillier were some of their nicknames like Black Wolf and Black Bear, along with Black Whirlwind and Heimu Kai.
After graduating from middle school, Black Wolf joined the Sanda team at Haizhou City's sports school and had once ranked in the province. Later, he entered Shanhai Province Sports Academy. During his time at the academy, he trained hard. In his junior year, he developed feelings for a girl from the gymnastics program but faced unrequited love and had no other way but to persistently pursue her.
This girl was from Shanzhou City, and her brother was also involved in street life. He gathered a few people to "warn" Black Wolf, but five of them couldn't take down one person; Black Wolf injured four severely and one lightly—the lightly injured one managed to escape like a rabbit.
As a result of this incident, Black Wolf was expelled from the sports academy and sentenced to two years probation for excessive self-defense.
Returning to his hometown in Haizhou City, his parents provided him with some capital to open a small clothing store. However, he wasn't cut out for that business. Soon after, he found work at a Sanda training class and began mingling with some thugs. Known for his loyalty and fighting skills, he gathered a group of younger brothers around him and later got introduced to the Red Ribbon Club to work as security.
The Red Ribbon Club was part of Black Ghost's enterprises. With his impressive skills, Black Wolf gradually made a name for himself and became Black Ghost's top enforcer. Eventually, this group pretentiously established the Four Great Guardians.
Black Wolf wasn't particularly tall or striking; he looked quite ordinary—similar to wolves in the animal kingdom—not as grand as lions or as flamboyant as tigers. However, his attacks were fierce and he was undoubtedly a beast. The key difference between Black Wolf and other tough characters was that he was very clever.
Li Yifeng admired this cousin since childhood and sometimes accompanied him during fights—though he mostly just watched. His fierce spirit was also influenced by Black Wolf.
After finishing the IV drip, Li Yifeng went to find Black Wolf.
Looking at the bandage on Li Yifeng's hand and listening to his exaggerated description, Black Wolf felt it was hard to believe.
The first thing that came to Black Wolf's mind was Hou Long, the Sanda King from Shanhai Province. Hou Long was his senior from the sports academy. He had a vague feeling that even with Hou Long's skills, it wouldn't have been done so quickly or easily.
Moreover, what was even stranger was that just a few days ago, Zhang Yang had been ruthlessly beaten and humiliated by Li Yifeng without any chance to fight back.
Unlike Li Yifeng, Black Wolf had been in society for many years, and his first judgment was that Zhang Yang was originally a skilled fighter who had hidden his abilities. After being provoked by Li Yifeng, he was forced to reveal his skills, and since he had shown them, he might as well be a bit arrogant about it.
In society, the most feared opponents are those whose backgrounds are unknown.
Therefore, when Li Yifeng suggested teaching Zhang Yang a lesson, Black Wolf proposed an alternative plan.
"Do you know his best friend?" Black Wolf asked Li Yifeng.
"There's a fat guy named Pan who stood up for him this time. I once tricked him out of 200 yuan," Li Yifeng replied.
"Good. At the very least, we need to figure out why this kid suddenly became so tough," Black Wolf said thoughtfully.
The next morning, Fatty Pan was walking unsteadily to school when he was suddenly thrown into a van by two big men right outside his apartment complex. The action was quick and professional; before Fatty Pan could shout, his mouth was covered, and a gleaming knife was pressed against his neck. After being shoved into the vehicle, a black cloth was placed over his eyes.
When the black cloth was removed from his head, Fatty Pan found himself kicked to the ground and not tied up as he had imagined. As he focused his eyes, it appeared to be an abandoned factory. In front of him stood an ordinary-looking young man and two burly men.
Although the young man looked plain, his eyes were terrifying, seemingly flickering with a ghostly green light. This was naturally Black Wolf.
"Fatty, I don't have much time to waste with you. I ask, you answer. If you tell one lie, I'll chop off one of your fingers," Black Wolf said as he lit a cigarette.
"Big brother, can you give me a cigarette? I'll answer whatever you ask. Although I'm quite impulsive, I definitely haven't offended anyone," Fatty Pan said nervously, wanting a cigarette purely because he learned it from movies.
Black Wolf suddenly couldn't hold back his laughter and tossed him a cigarette along with a plastic lighter.
After lighting the cigarette, Fatty Pan thought about the situation and felt it didn't seem like a kidnapping for ransom. He shivered and thought of Li Yifeng. "Is this person in front of me Black Wolf?" Fatty Pan's heart began to race.
Then, Black Wolf asked a question, and Fatty Pan answered without hiding anything.
From elementary school to high school, Fatty Pan had always been classmates with Zhang Yang, so he didn't have to think much about many things. Especially regarding the time he learned martial arts from relatives in Linan Province, which was a key point Black Wolf interrogated him about. Fatty Pan truthfully answered that Zhang Yang had disappeared for three days.
Black Wolf observed closely; this fat guy was indeed not lying.
Having never practiced martial arts from elementary school to high school, he had fought and been beaten up. Even if he learned some martial arts in the past few days, it would only be some tricks, and kids often find martial arts fascinating, so they might act all tough suddenly. Plus, since Li Yifeng had his finger broken, it made things difficult for him, which is why he exaggerated. After pondering for a moment, Black Wolf reached this conclusion.
Then, Black Wolf decisively told Fatty Pan that he was indeed Black Wolf and that he had "invited" him over to act as a messenger to arrange a meeting with Zhang Yang. The meeting was set for tomorrow at noon at this factory. After saying that, Black Wolf waved his hand, indicating that Fatty Pan could leave and told him to turn left when he exited, go through a small path to reach the main road, then turn right; there would be a bus stop less than a hundred meters away.
As Fatty Pan was leaving, he surprisingly said, "Thank you, Brother Black Wolf."
"This fat guy is quite interesting. It seems that Zhang Yang is worth meeting," Black Wolf thought as he watched Fatty Pan's departing figure with a confident expression on his face.
