I sighed and said, "Mom, the doctor said that if we can have a check-up, we can find out whether the baby is a boy or a girl."
Liu Cuiyun's eyes lit up: "Really?"

Liu Cuiyun was taken aback and fell silent.
Ma Zhigang spoke up, "Then let's check it out."
Liu Cuiyun nodded, "Alright, I'll go get the money."
Actually, I knew that Liu Cuiyun was so stingy she definitely wouldn't want to spend money for us to get a prenatal check-up. I said this just to test the waters and see what Liu Cuiyun and Ma Zhigang thought about the check-up. After all, our next plan was to go to Town Hospital for the prenatal check-up.
I deliberately brought it up: "Mother, Aunt Liu's daughter-in-law had a prenatal check-up recently and gave birth to a son."
