It was completely dark now, and in a pitch-black alley, I found myself alone with a beautiful woman. The situation was quite thrilling—of course, what made it even more exciting was the presence of a Killing Spirit floating nearby. 0

A single question from Sister left me speechless. What could I possibly say to explain myself? I had been following her for no reason (not stalking! Not stalking! Not stalking! Important things need to be repeated thrice!), and had inexplicably performed a Deity dance in front of her, spouting a bunch of nonsense. How could I explain that I was just a spiritual practitioner and not some pervert? The simplest solution would be to knock Sister out with a quick strike and then do as I pleased... Hey, I meant doing as I pleased in exorcising spirits, so don’t get the wrong idea! 0

In the end, reality proved that I couldn’t just do as I pleased. 0

I stepped in front of Sister, traced a Talisman in the air with my finger, and then touched her forehead. What I drew was a Spirit Charm; this type of talisman doesn’t require any physical medium and can be activated simply by using magical energy. However, if I wanted to draw an Exorcism talisman or something similar, I would need yellow paper and Red Ink to do so. (Red Ink is made from chicken blood and comes in both black and red varieties.) 0

Before I could even process the smoothness of Sister's forehead, I felt a powerful spiritual pressure. 0

My hand hadn’t left Sister’s forehead when she kicked out with a whip-like leg. 0

“I warn you, if you keep touching me like that, I'll call it harassment!” 0

Go ahead, shout as loud as you want! You think I'm afraid? (Wait, that’s not right; I seem to actually be quite timid.) My Barrier was soundproof; no one would hear you scream no matter how loud you got, heh heh heh! 0

I had to admit that Sister wasn’t as fierce as Jin; I easily dodged her kick by bending down. — Her kick was surprisingly high, going right over my head. It seemed she was quite skilled; what a pity she was wearing long pants. 0

“Hey girl, at least take a good look before you strike!” I gestured towards the Killing Spirit. “See? You were asking for an explanation, right? Just look!” 0

Sister turned around and exclaimed, “Ah—” She certainly lived up to expectations; her scream could raise the pitch of the Tibetan Plateau! 0

“Do you see it now? This thing is attached to you and you didn’t feel anything?” I was quite impressed by her delayed reaction. After buying so much food, didn’t she notice anything unusual? 0

“What is that thing?” Sister jumped back and hid behind me. Wow, she really knew how to find cover. 0

“You’ve been attached by this Hungry Ghost,” I yawned; people tend to get sleepy after eating well. “Haven’t you noticed how much money is on your meal card?” Goodness, this Hungry Ghost must have been eyeing hundreds of dollars worth of food! Didn’t Sister have any suspicions? But then again, she was still Sister; seeing a ghost didn’t make her bold at all! Unlike me, who had become immune to being scared by Perverts. 0

“Not at all! My mom said if there’s money left on the meal card when school starts again, she’ll top it up with fifty thousand...” Sister said pitifully. 0

This Hungry Ghost really knew how to pick its targets; but then again, if it chose someone who couldn’t even fill their own stomach, it would be wasting its time. 0

“Tycoon!” I gave Sister a thumbs up. “Tycoon, are you looking for friends? How about me? I can catch ghosts! And keep you warm at night!” 0

“You—you better get rid of it quickly! What else are you planning to do with it?” Sister was almost crying; just moments ago she had been so assertive, but now she was trembling in fear from the Hungry Ghost. 0

“What’s there to be afraid of? Look how cute it is!” I pulled Sister in front of the Hungry Ghost; she trembled even more, and I couldn’t help but tease her. 0

I really didn't mean to scare this Sister; I just needed her to see if this Hungry Ghost had any grudges against her, which would help me decide how to deal with it. 0

"Hey, what's so cute about this? You pervert, let me go!" Sister panicked and lifted her foot, stomping down hard—right on my toe. 0

Caught off guard by the sudden attack, I loosened my grip, and Sister dashed away from me. 0

The Hungry Ghost stood there (its level was too low; after being pulled out, it had no medium to act on its own) and saw its benefactor rushing over (actually, I had pulled her over). It grinned widely, drool spilling from its mouth. 0

So everything in this world is connected in such a strange way. If I hadn't pulled this Sister over, she wouldn't have gone near it. If Sister hadn't panicked, she wouldn't have attacked me suddenly. If she hadn't attacked me, I wouldn't have let go. If I hadn't let go, she wouldn't have rushed forward. If she hadn't rushed forward, the Hungry Ghost wouldn't have smiled. If the Hungry Ghost hadn't smiled, she wouldn't be sitting on the ground crying like this. 0

Alright, alright, I admit it's all my fault. Why am I such a jerk? I had to tease her, and now she's crying—what am I supposed to do? I'm most afraid of girls crying, especially those I've just met. Wait, I don't even know her name yet. 0

"Okay, okay, don't cry. I didn't pull you over to scare you. Think carefully—do you know anyone who looks like it?" I pointed at the Hungry Ghost. 0

The girl sat on the ground, hugging her legs and shaking her head while crying. 0

Sigh, forget it; I can't rely on her anymore. This heavy lifting has to be done by me. 0

I took a brush and a piece of yellow paper from my pocket and drew a Clear Mind Talisman. This Clear Mind Talisman is a great thing; it can help even the most confused person understand the cause and effect clearly—and they must understand it. If I could sell it to someone in the police interrogation department, I'd make a fortune. Unfortunately, this thing can't be shared with others. I don't even know if it works on ghosts; I'll just give it a try—better to treat a dead horse as a live one. 0

I stuck the talisman on the Hungry Ghost's forehead, and its features immediately became clearer. 0

It was evident that the Hungry Ghost had not been young when alive; its face was marked by the hardships of life. Its eyes were murky and lacked spirit; its eyebrows drooped downwards—it looked like an honest person. 0

"You seem much older than me; I'll call you Uncle," I said to the Hungry Ghost. "Do you have any memories of your life before?" I remained polite and courteous towards strangers (the Hungry Ghost already had human features, so subconsciously I still regarded it as a person). 0

The Hungry Ghost nodded, showing a look of struggle. 0

"Don't worry; I'll avenge those with grievances and settle scores for those with enmity. If there's no grievance or enmity, I'll send you off to ascend early—I won't favor anyone." As they say, everything comes full circle; no one can escape their past deeds. If you've accumulated good karma in your previous life, you might enjoy some blessings in this life; but if you've committed wrongs in this life, you'll have to repay them in your next life. It's not that retribution doesn't come; it's just that the time hasn't arrived yet. When the time comes, retribution will be served! 0

The Hungry Ghost struggled for a moment before speaking. 0

"I was just an ordinary farmer from a nearby village; I have no grievances with this girl—if anything, it would be with her father." 0

The Hungry Ghost was from the area and was named Song—a simple man who had worked with the land his entire life. 0

"It should be around noon now. I was working in the fields and wanted to finish everything quickly because it was too hot so that I wouldn't have to come out for lunch later. It was very hot while I was working when suddenly my phone rang—it was my wife calling to tell me our two sons had come back along with my grandchildren and brought lots of food waiting for me to eat. I was very happy and put down my work immediately to ride my electric bike home. My field isn't far from home; it's just across a road. In my excitement, I forgot to pay attention to passing cars and ended up getting hit by this girl's father’s car. At that moment, I wasn't dead yet; he took me to the hospital but we were both going too fast—I couldn't be saved anymore. In the hospital, I finally passed away." Uncle Song recounted everything in one breath. "I watched my heart stop beating and felt myself floating beside my body as you pulled me out of this girl’s body. I knew that I had died but couldn't accept it—I still had family waiting for me at home! And there was still a Reunion Dinner that I hadn't eaten!" Tears began welling up in the Hungry Ghost's eyes. 0

Sigh, the unfortunate must have their share of sorrow. You, Uncle Song, are indeed unlucky; it’s supposed to be such a joyful occasion to return home for the Reunion Dinner, yet this unexpected event has occurred. 0

I turned to Sister, who seemed to have heard the story of the Hungry Ghost and had stopped crying. I asked her, "How did your dad resolve this matter?" 0

This issue could have been easily resolved; as long as the Hungry Ghost was buried properly in a timely manner, it would be fine. This matter has its roots and reasons; even if it went to Yama, it could be handled. The Hungry Ghost wouldn’t accumulate resentment, so it must be that the aftermath wasn’t managed well. 0

"My dad first had the old man buried properly, but Old Man's Son wouldn’t let it go. They demanded my dad pay with his life and later proposed a settlement of two million. My dad thought they were extorting him and decided to wait for the traffic bureau's report to follow legal procedures. If we were fully responsible, those who should go to jail would go. However, the traffic bureau determined it was shared responsibility, and our family only needed to pay 80,000. So aside from insurance, our family only needed to come up with a few thousand. But Old Man's Son refused; not only did he not hold a funeral for the old man, but he also brought the old man's photo to our house to cause trouble. My mom wanted to pay him off to keep the peace, but my dad felt we shouldn’t suffer this injustice. Although our family looks wealthy, all our money is tied up in my dad's company, so we couldn’t come up with cash. The 50,000 on my meal card was probably all we could manage; my mom gave it all to me just in case." 0

"You must have seen the uncle's photo?" 0

"Yeah, I took a sneak peek." 0

"No wonder! Hey, uncle, it was clearly this girl’s dad who hit you; why are you going after her instead? Revenge isn’t supposed to be like this." 0

"I wish I could; her dad has something protecting him!" said the Hungry Ghost. 0

I asked Sister, "Does your dad have anything spiritual on him? Like a peach wood talisman or something?" 0

Sister replied, "He has a jade pendant he’s carried since he was young; my grandma got it from Guanyin Temple. I have one too, but I think it's superstitious and stopped wearing it after coming out." 0

Look at you! Ignoring the advice of elders has led you to trouble! If you had worn it, wouldn’t everything have been fine? But Sister is lucky; she encountered me, this handsome and charming young man who is always willing to help! 0
