After the leader swallowed the pill, his aura suddenly changed, and his strength surged, as if he was enveloped in a layer of evil black mist. He swung his hand violently, and several Shadow Assassins hidden in the shadows rushed forward, restraining Li Ye's already besieged Wolf Corpse. Li Ye controlled another Wolf Corpse to fight alongside Yan Yuchen against the leader, but at that moment, the leader's power was extremely formidable, and he easily shattered one of Li Ye's Wolf Corpses.
Several Shadow Assassins joined forces and quickly dealt with Li Ye's other Wolf Corpse, causing the situation to become extremely tense. Just when things looked dire, Zhiruo was captured by a Shadow Assassin, making the situation even more critical.
At that moment, Specter appeared like a ghost. She emerged with the two corpses she had just killed; the two slain Sentinels had now turned into zombies under her control. Specter's figure flickered in the darkness, her eyes glowing red, and a cold smile appeared on her face.
In an instant, she closed in on two Shadow Assassins. Specter's moves were ruthless; with a flick of her hand, a sharp nail sliced through the air, and one assassin's throat was instantly sprayed with a jet of blood. He clutched his neck and let out a painful groan, but everything seemed powerless before Specter. With a cold laugh, she exerted force with her fingers, twisting the assassin's head until it snapped off, leaving a gruesome scene.
The other assassin turned pale at this sight and attempted to flee. However, Specter had already anticipated his intention; she swiftly blocked his path. She reached out and grabbed his hair, slamming him down to the ground. The assassin let out a piercing scream as Specter's fingers dug into his chest like iron, tearing open his heart in an instant. Blood splattered across her face as she coldly licked her lips, seemingly savoring the thrill of killing.
Meanwhile, the two zombies controlled by Specter also began to move. They twisted their bodies and emitted low growls as they lunged at other Shadow Assassins. One assassin was knocked to the ground by a zombie, which bit through his throat with its sharp teeth, blood gushing forth. Another assassin tried to fight back, but the zombies were extraordinarily powerful; their arms crushed the assassin's bones like iron claws. The assassin's body was twisted beyond recognition as his screams echoed through the dense forest, sounding particularly tragic.
Specter watched all this coldly, showing no sign of compassion on her face. She knew that as a zombie, only ruthless slaughter could make her stronger. Her eyes glowed red as her figure darted across the battlefield like a specter, continuously reaping the lives of her enemies.
At that moment, Li Ye quickly began to chant an incantation: "Spirits of the Nine Netherworlds, heed my call; break through the realm of death and return to the world of light. With my blood as bait and my soul as contract, return to me and obey my command!" He cut open his palm and used his blood as a guide to resurrect a recently slain Shadow Assassin, rejoining the battle.
The zombies controlled by Specter and the resurrected Shadow Assassin worked together to draw all attention from several other Shadow Assassins. This gave Li Ye and Yan Yuchen another opportunity to attack; Yan Yuchen wielded her longsword with fierce sword energy that forced the leader to retreat repeatedly. Meanwhile, Li Ye closely followed behind, looking for openings.
Although the leader was powerful, he gradually found himself overwhelmed by the combined attacks of Li Ye and Yan Yuchen. The pressure from both Specter's zombies and the resurrected Shadow Assassin continued to mount against him.
Just when the leader became distracted, Yan Yuchen struck out with her sword; its cold light flashed as it pierced into the leader's chest. The leader let out a furious roar as blood gushed forth; the light in his eyes gradually dimmed until he finally collapsed to the ground.
Li Ye sighed in relief, wiped sweat from his forehead, and turned to look at Zhiruo and Specter, asking with concern: "Are you both okay?"
Zhiruo shook her head, tears glistening in her eyes: "Brother Ye, we won."
Specter calmly looked at the fallen leader and the corpse of the Shadow Assassin, communicating with Li Ye through thought: "This Base has been completely destroyed by us. Next, we should leave here and find a safer place."
Yan Yuchen nodded, gripping her sword tightly, and said firmly, "We must make Liu Zhang pay for his crimes and reclaim our family's Heavenly Frost Sword."
Li Ye nodded and said to the two girls, "Now we need to clean up the battlefield; we cannot leave any clues for the enemy."
He turned to Yan Yuchen and continued, "At most, they can only trace your existence since this Base was mobilized by the Shadow Assassin to hunt you down. The court is still unaware of my existence."
Yan Yuchen nodded in agreement, understanding Li Ye's point that they must not let any clues reveal their whereabouts. Specter, along with two zombies and the newly resurrected Shadow Assassin, gathered all the bodies in the Base together and looted everything valuable. She packed these items into a large box and had the two zombies carry it.
Zhiruo watched Specter efficiently clean up the battlefield, feeling even more impressed by her abilities. She quietly said to Li Ye, "Brother Ye, Specter is truly amazing; her speed and composure in handling things make me feel at ease."
Li Ye nodded and smiled, saying, "Yes, Specter is indeed very strong; she has been a great help to us."
Unable to speak, Specter responded only through her actions, managing everything in an orderly manner. Her eyes were cold and hollow, exuding the eerie aura unique to zombies.
Li Ye approached another corpse of the Shadow Assassin he had resurrected and checked her condition. This newly revived zombie was also female, beautiful yet pale from death, with a tall and toned figure. Her black hair fell down, her eyes glimmering with cold light, and her skin was as smooth as marble. Her name was Shadow Reaper.
Standing side by side with Specter, although both were zombies, Li Ye could clearly sense the differences between them. Specter had a more graceful figure and moved with ghostly agility, while Shadow Reaper appeared colder, with formidable attack and defense capabilities. Specter excelled in close combat and ambushes with incredible speed, while Shadow Reaper possessed greater strength and endurance to confront enemies head-on.
Li Ye explained to Zhiruo and Yan Yuchen: "Zombies also have levels. Specter and Shadow Reaper were directly resurrected through my magic; their strength is much greater than that of ordinary zombies. Although the zombies created by Specter biting someone have combat power, their level and abilities cannot compare to theirs."
Both Yan Yuchen and Zhiruo showed expressions of shock, clearly gaining a deeper understanding of Li Ye's spirit summoning technique.
Standing silently beside them, Shadow Reaper was cold and emotionless, simply waiting quietly for Li Ye's command.
Li Ye looked around, confirming that nothing was left behind, and said to everyone, "Alright, let's go. We need to leave here as soon as possible."
Specter and Shadow Reaper devoured the corpses on the battlefield one by one. Their movements were swift and decisive, their eyes gleaming with a hungry light. The flesh and blood of the bodies were consumed bit by bit, leaving only shattered bones. As a result, Specter and Shadow Reaper's power was further enhanced, and the air around them filled with the scent of death.
Two low-level zombies carried a chest full of loot, following behind them. The three of them, along with Specter and the two low-level zombies, quickly left Base. They navigated through the dense forest, trying to avoid obvious paths and opting for concealed trails. Throughout the journey, Specter remained vigilant, constantly aware of the surroundings, while Shadow Reaper followed closely behind with light and swift steps.
They walked for a long time until they confirmed they had distanced themselves from Base before stopping to rest. Li Ye found a hidden spot for everyone to sit down for a moment.
Yan Yuchen sat nearby, exhausted but determined, saying, "We must find a safe place quickly and plan our next move."
Zhiruo took out some food and water, handing it to everyone with concern, "Everyone should eat something; we need to replenish our strength."
Li Ye accepted the food and gratefully said to Zhiruo, "Thank you, Zhiruo. What we need most right now is to maintain our strength and spirits so we can face the challenges ahead."
Specter remained calmly standing aside; her zombie traits meant she did not need rest, but her presence provided great reassurance to the others. Shadow Reaper relaxed slightly but still remained alert.
Yan Yuchen softly said, "Li Ye, your zombies are truly a tremendous help to us, especially Specter and Shadow Reaper."
Li Ye smiled and replied, "Yes, Specter and Shadow Reaper are indeed very powerful; they will be crucial in our fight against the enemies."
After a brief rest, they set off again towards the northern valley. Li Ye looked at the high-hanging moon with excitement in his heart and shouted at it, "The court's hounds are nothing but this! This is just interest! Celestial Guard, I will make you pay one day!"
