In the ancient castle on the other side, in front of a wide floor-to-ceiling window, stood a woman dressed in a light white silk gown that trailed to the ground, draped in pure white and semi-transparent gauze. Her beauty was extraordinary.
Her long black hair flowed like a waterfall, and at this moment, her willow-like brows were slightly furrowed like distant mountains. Her deep, expressive eyes sparkled like brilliant stars, clear and bright. Below her small nose was a delicate cherry blossom mouth, with thin lips that curved slightly upward, carrying a hint of melancholic sorrow.
Her entire face was free of any makeup yet appeared exceptionally pure and ethereal, devoid of any trace of worldly concerns, resembling a stunning figure from a beautiful painting.
Yan Wushuang watched as the bodyguards inside the castle left one by one. She glanced at the antique clock on the wall indicating the time; it was ten o'clock. He should have started by now, so she should begin as well...
She had deliberately told Mary that she had a stomach ache and wanted to stay in her room to rest, asking her not to disturb her. Meanwhile, she had already cut the bedspread into strips and secured one end to the headboard, remotely opening the so-called bulletproof glass and throwing the other end down.
Most of the bodyguards had been reassigned today, leaving this corner unguarded. She looked down at the height below; although she felt terrified inside, she gritted her teeth and crawled out of the window, inching down along the bed sheet she had thrown.
When her feet touched the ground, she looked up at the sky as if the goddess of freedom was beckoning to her. Seizing the moment, she hurriedly made her way toward the garage.
Today was the day of the master’s grand wedding, and security within the castle was quite lax. After easily evading several servants, she successfully reached the garage. She spotted one of the frequently used vehicles, crouched down, and gradually hid under its chassis.
The ground clearance of this car was just enough for her to hide. Wushuang found a stable position under the car and secured herself with ropes. Just as she finished securing herself beneath the vehicle, she heard voices from men approaching in the distance.
Inside the ancient church, an atmosphere of solemnity and grandeur prevailed as the wedding officially commenced. When the wedding march began to play amidst eager anticipation, little flower girls dressed in formal attire appeared, scattering petals along the red carpet to pave the way for the newlyweds. The petals floated through sunlight in this strange ambiance, shimmering like wings from heavenly angels—pure and transparent.
The pastor addressed the couple, guiding them through their vows, exchanging rings and signing marriage documents. Rafas's chiseled face bore a charming smile as he slid a large diamond ring onto his bride's slender white finger. Annie felt so happy that she nearly fainted; gone was her usual haughty demeanor in front of others—she was completely lost in love's enchantment, appearing shy like a little woman.
The butler hurriedly led two servants outside to procure supplies without noticing anything unusual. They got into their car as usual and slowly pressed down on the accelerator toward the towering iron gates of the castle.
Yan Wushuang hid beneath the car; her back rubbed against the uneven ground beneath her. Although it hurt terribly, freedom was just within reach!
The guard opened the gate as usual; as the car slowly passed through, Yan Wushuang listened to the sound of the door closing behind them and breathed a huge sigh of relief—she had finally made it out!
Inside the ancient church, three crystal-clear white candles adorned the aisle; two symbolized an everlasting love between husband and wife.
After exchanging vows, Rafas wore a playful smirk while Annie lit the third candle together with him—the so-called "Unity Candle."
On the surface, Rafas smiled joyfully; however, his smile did not reach his eyes which were filled with coldness and malice deep within his pupils.
A lifelong unwavering love? Ha, how could he, Rafas, possibly believe in that? Love? It has never existed in his world; his world is only filled with naked plunder and desire!
Amidst the blessings of the priest and guests, surrounded by a group of strong bodyguards, and under a shower of colorful rose petals, Rafas carried his bride out of the church and into a luxurious armored car, driving towards their ultra-luxurious villa by the sea.
Yan Wushuang had been hiding under the car, enduring for a while. Fortunately, the journey was smooth without any bumps that could hurt her. The car entered an underground parking lot, where the butler and two servants went to restock supplies at a large chain supermarket. After locking the car, they left.
Cutting the ropes that bound her with scissors, she had a small bag with her to carry tools. She successfully landed on the ground and cautiously crawled out from under the car. Looking at the unfamiliar surroundings, she wondered where she was. However, she was certain that she had left the mysterious castle that had imprisoned her!
In the distance, she saw someone approaching and quickly adjusted her clothes before running up to ask how to leave: "Excuse me, how do I get out of here?"
Wushuang used her newly learned English to awkwardly inquire with a man and woman walking towards her. The tall American man was taken aback by how pure and cute this girl looked; admiration blossomed in his eyes.
The woman beside him enthusiastically pointed out the way for her to exit the parking lot. Wushuang's English wasn't very good, but she explained in detail, noticing that Wushuang was Chinese and worried she might not understand. She even used gestures to help explain!
Wushuang gratefully shook her hand to say goodbye and followed the direction she indicated, arriving at a busy road. It was her first time witnessing such changes in this world; it was incredible! Everywhere she looked were large metal boxes moving freely, and people on the street wore all sorts of clothes. Towering buildings surrounded her, exuding a modern vibe from a millennium later!
This was the world a thousand years later; the changes were overwhelming for someone like her from ancient times!
Rafas successfully returned to the villa with his bride. The final act of their performance had concluded as various family bigwigs gradually departed. The security in Las Vegas was gradually lifted as well; this century's wedding had come to an end.
Annie remained enchanted by the happiness from earlier. Under everyone's gaze, Rafas carried her back to their new room. His smile faded as soon as he closed the door; his cold and deep gaze returned to his face.
Smith Annie changed out of her pure white wedding dress into sexy sleepwear and walked over to him, resting her hands on his shoulders while gazing dreamily at her husband.
Rafas's cold eyes showed no emotion just as there was a sudden urgent knock on the door. Annie shot an annoyed glare at the door—who dared disturb her special moment?
Mike was Rafas's personal bodyguard; wherever he went, Mike would always be by his side. Mary discovered that Wushuang was missing from the room and searched every corner of the castle but couldn't find her. She immediately notified Mike about Miss Wushuang's disappearance.
Clearly, Rafas had never anticipated that woman would escape on such an important day. It seemed he hadn't disciplined her enough; however, she underestimated him too much. Little one, you better hide well; don't let me find you so quickly...
Looking back at Annie behind him, he simply said flatly, "You've had a long day too; get some rest early."
"Rafas, where are you going? Today is our wedding day; do you still want to go out?" Since that night he left until today, he hadn't touched her once. She thought there would be an unexpected romantic night but instead received such cold treatment from him.
"Men's affairs are not for women to meddle in. Don't think that marrying me means you can control me. To be honest, marrying you is just part of my plan. You, Smith Annie, are well-known among men; I don't need anyone else to tell me what kind of woman you are. So you'd better stay put from now on; do you understand?" Rafas said harshly before turning around and leaving the room—he had more important matters to attend to.
Smith Annie watched his departing figure, feeling defeated. She thought this man was attracted by her charm, but it turned out to be different. Her body felt like a deflated balloon as she slumped weakly onto the bed.
Rafas rushed back to the castle. Mary dared not touch anything in the room; everything remained as it was when she entered. Looking at the sheet connected to the head of the bed, she realized that was how she had run out.
The surveillance cameras in the castle captured her running towards the garage. Could it be that she hid in a car and secretly followed the vehicles that came and went?
No matter how she left, he would definitely drag her out before sunset!
Yan Wushuang was filled with curiosity about this world. She didn't even know where to go. Seeing a crowded place, she ran over to take a look. However, she knew that by running out like this, the Big Bad Guy would definitely come looking for her. Now was not the time for curiosity; she should find a place to hide.
She kept walking and walking. When she got hungry, she took out a gold watch she had stolen from her room and ran into a restaurant to exchange it for money. The restaurant manager, seeing her pitiful appearance, thought she was a lost Chinese girl. Noticing the valuable gold watch in her hand, he gave her all the cash he had on him, which amounted to only a few thousand dollars. A few thousand dollars were nothing compared to that expensive gold watch; it wouldn't even buy a single part.
Now she had money. The kind restaurant manager even let her eat a bowl of noodles for free. The money was in a bag, and although she didn't know how much there was, having money in hand meant she wouldn't have to worry about going hungry.
Yan Wushuang bought some seemingly nice bread from a small shop by the roadside. She still didn't know where to go but prepared some dry food just in case; this was her habit whenever she went out.
As she walked out of the bustling market, fewer people were around. Wushuang looked around nervously at her surroundings; it felt strange here.
In the distance, she saw an elderly man with gray hair in a large yard. She lifted her long skirt and ran over. The old man was focused on tending to the garden; this was the outskirts of Las Vegas City, and he was an old caretaker of a cemetery.
Entering this fear-laden garden, Yan Wushuang felt a deep-seated fear rising within her. She hurriedly took out the Phoenix Pendant and held it tightly in her palm as she cautiously approached the old man from behind: "Excuse me, sir, could you tell me where this place is?"
