Looking at the cute, chubby little creature with its snow-white fur, Yan Wushuang thought for a moment, picked it up to her face, and smiled as she gazed into its small eyes. "Little rabbit, I need to discuss something with you. I can't keep calling you little rabbit forever. So, based on your appearance, I've decided to give you a name. How about Snowball?"
After waiting a few seconds and seeing no reaction from it, Yan Wushuang happily said, "Since you're not saying anything, that means you agree! From now on, I'll call you Snowball... Snowball... Snowball..."
Yan Wushuang held Snowball in her arms and brought out her lunch to feed it. This ancient castle was so dull; no one ever came to play with her. But now it was different; she had Snowball to keep her company every day.
The bodyguards reported her situation to Rafas almost every hour. Listening to them describe how she had spent the afternoon playing with a rabbit and looking at the photos they sent over, which showed her seemingly very happy, he wondered if a mere animal could bring her such joy.
Having a rabbit accompany her was fine; at least that rabbit wouldn’t teach her how to betray herself or encourage her to go out and play. It seemed that animals were more reassuring than people!
His words seemed somewhat pointed towards someone, but he wasn't entirely wrong. He set aside thoughts of her and continued with his work. He still needed to visit the base to check on his so-called wife and see how she was doing.
In the dim and damp underground cell, Smith Annie had been locked up for quite some time. Ever since Rafas had thrown the bodyguard who had an affair with her into Serpent's Den to feed the snakes, he had not appeared again. This kind of life was driving her nearly insane. What did they intend to do with her? If they planned to keep her locked up here for life, she would rather be given an end—just one bullet would suffice.
Finally, the iron door of the cell opened. Rafas appeared before her like a deity, high above, making Smith Annie feel as if she had found a glimmer of hope in the darkness.
She immediately crawled and knelt before him, tears streaming down her face as she grasped his pant leg and pleaded sorrowfully, "Rafas, please give me a chance! I've had enough of this place; I can't stay here any longer. Whether I live or die, can’t you at least give me an answer?"
Rafas looked at her disheveled hair and the pride that still lingered on her face. After lightly clearing his throat towards the door, Mike entered holding two documents and handed them to Rafas.
"In consideration of my relationship with your father, I’m giving you a way out. This document is a divorce agreement. If you sign it, you can leave here immediately. If you refuse to sign it, then you'll grow old and die here; after all, I have food and shelter for you here—I won’t treat you poorly." Rafas handed her the document clearly labeled Divorce Agreement.
Smith Annie glanced at it briefly but widened her eyes when she saw the last clause. She looked at him incredulously and asked, "You want a divorce from me and expect me to transfer my five percent shares of Halsen Group to you? How am I supposed to explain that to my father?"
"How you explain that is your business. If you're unhappy with just this, I can give you the villa by the seaside as well; after all, I won’t be going there again—it’s useless for me!" Rafas casually lit a cigar and took a leisurely puff.
Smith Annie lowered her head and thought for a long while before finally agreeing. The moment she nodded, the lawyer immediately walked in to handle all the signing procedures. From today onward, Rafas would also become a shareholder of Halsen Group.
He kept his word; after Smith Annie signed the documents, he indeed safely sent her back to the seaside villa. The bodyguards that used to be in that villa were gone; only a few servants who worked there remained.
Once Annie returned to her room, she burst into tears. That damned man had made her suffer so much; it was truly too much—too cruel! She wanted to return to England immediately and tell her father and brother everything that had happened here!
Rafas looked at the share transfer agreement with satisfaction. His original intention was merely to get rid of her; however, who could have predicted that she would run into him during one of his worst moods? She unwittingly delivered him those five percent shares on a silver platter.
"Lefas, you took five percent of their shares. Aren't you worried about causing trouble over in the UK?" Faisal looked at the stack of documents, concerned that the old fox would hold a grudge against them and sabotage the cooperation project.
"Don't worry, that old fellow sees things quite clearly. My five percent stake doesn't pose a threat to him. However, if he tries to create problems for me in this project, he will lose a significant amount of money. In that case, my five percent will turn to support others. If there are any conflicts within the Halsen Group's Board of Directors, my five percent definitely won't back him!" Rafas had already calculated everything; he just wanted to use this small stake to subtly threaten him.
Faisal nodded. It seemed that Rafas was still very rational in his thinking. He had thought that after arguing with Shouya last night, Rafas's mind might be dulled, but Rafas was still Rafas; nothing could affect his judgment!
Yan Wushuang was playing with her Snowball in the pavilion when she suddenly thought she heard a chirping sound. Could it be another Snowball?
She looked around the pavilion but found nothing. What could be making that noise? Was it a little bird?
While pondering this, she noticed a bird's nest on a tree trunk nearby. Could it be the chicks in the nest chirping?
She ran out of the pavilion, stood under the tree, and looked up. The trunk wasn't very high; it seemed to be just a bit taller than her and her companion. Seeing that the bodyguards around didn't seem to care much about what she was doing, she mischievously raised Snowball high and placed it on a lower branch before taking off her slippers and began climbing up the trunk.
The bodyguards had been watching her play in the pavilion for a while and figured it was about time to relax and chat among themselves. At this moment, Yan Wushuang had already placed Snowball on her shoulder and was climbing up towards the location of the bird's nest.
When one of the bodyguards turned back to look at the pavilion, he realized something was wrong. "Where is Miss Wushuang?" Several bodyguards immediately rushed over but found no trace of her. They glanced at the lake, which was calm without a ripple; there was no way she could have fallen in without them hearing anything.
A short while later, another bodyguard found her slippers under the tree and looked up in shock: "Miss Wushuang, come down! It's too dangerous up there!"
"You found me! This isn't fun at all! But you guys are too worried; I'm fine! I still want to see if there are any chicks in that nest!" Yan Wushuang ignored them and continued climbing towards the nest.
Finally reaching her destination, she opened her eyes wide and started counting: one chick, two chicks, three chicks... Then she shouted from the tree, "So cute! So cute!"
A group of bodyguards stood below urging her to come down and even brought inflatable mattresses and cushions as precautionary measures in case she fell.
Rafas was already on his way back and pulled out his phone to check when he unexpectedly discovered a photo of her climbing the tree—barefoot with a fluffy creature perched on her shoulder. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a rabbit. What on earth was she doing?
He ordered the driver to step on the gas and rush back to the castle. When he hurriedly returned, the garden was already in chaos. Yan Wushuang sat high up on a tree branch with Snowball. From ground level, it hadn't seemed very high, but now that she was up there, it felt much taller than before, making her hesitant to come down.
From afar, she saw that man rushing back and felt anxious; she sat on the branch and started crying. Snowball seemed to understand what its owner was feeling and nestled quietly in her arms without moving, looking innocently at the group of people below.
"Yan Wushuang, are you looking for death? Get down here right now!" Rafas glared at her with blood-red eyes, kicking the two bodyguards responsible for protecting her today, knocking the tall men down so that they couldn't get up for a while.
Yan Wushuang sat above, holding a rabbit in one arm and hugging a tree trunk with the other. This man was too fierce! With just one kick, he sent that tall man flying. If she went down, he would probably kick her so hard that she'd spit blood. No, he might even kick her ten meters away; it was terrifying!
"What are you doing up there? Throw that beast in your hands down immediately!" He was furious at her dangerous behavior. Did she think she was Superwoman? Climbing so high into a tree to play was asking for trouble.
"I... Wuwuwu... I'm scared, I don't dare to come down..." Tears rolled down her cheeks like beans. The more Yan Wushuang cried, the more frightened she became. Her eyes blurred with tears as she released her grip on the tree trunk to wipe them away. But when she met his fierce gaze, she nearly slipped forward and fell.
"Ah..." she screamed, but thankfully she managed to grab the tree trunk again just in time to avoid falling unprepared.
Rafas looked up at her from below, his heart tightening at her dangerous actions. He estimated the distance from where she was to the ground—about five meters. He could definitely catch her; there were soft mats spread out around him, so there shouldn't be any problems.
"You need to drop that beast in your hands and jump down to my position. I'll catch you; hurry!" He commanded anxiously. If this dragged on, he might really get so angry that he'd chop down the tree.
Hearing his command, Yan Wushuang pouted and turned her head away. Throwing away Snowball? No way! He could dream!
"What are you thinking? Hurry up!" Seeing that she seemed unresponsive only made him angrier, and he shouted uncontrollably at the damn woman in the tree.
With each of his shouts, Wushuang felt more aggrieved and cried even harder while roaring back at him from the tree; "You big bad guy! You want me to throw away Snowball? You're so mean! I'm not coming down today; I won't come down ever again... Wuwuwu..."
"Damn it, I'll say it one last time: if you don't jump down now, I'll have someone chop this tree down immediately. Let's see if you can still come down then." As he spoke, he had already sent someone to fetch an axe.
