"Long Yi, please don't go. I'm begging you, don't look for Wushuang anymore, okay? The more you do this, the more difficult it becomes for her. Rafas won't let you off either. If Wushuang has to protect you, she might end up agreeing to some conditions he sets. You're putting Wushuang in danger, do you understand?" Long Yi wanted to leave Japan again, but was stopped by Misa.
This scene had been playing out almost every day for the past few days. Misa followed Long Yi like a ghost, fearing that he would sneak away to Las Vegas when she wasn't paying attention.
Long Yi looked into Misa's eyes and thought about what she had said to him these past few days. Was he really wrong? Did he love Wushuang the wrong way?
"Misa, Shuang'er doesn't love that man, do you understand? She doesn't love him; she married him for my sake. She did it to clarify things for me," he said, gripping her arms tightly and asking her repeatedly.
Misa looked at his infatuated black eyes and wondered why he couldn't see even a little bit of her. Didn't her sacrifices count for anything? Why couldn't he see her?
Taking a deep breath to control her emotions, she looked up at him and replied, "I know Wushuang married him for you. I know she doesn't love that man, but why is Wushuang being forced to marry him? It's because of your impulsiveness and irrationality. I'm begging you not to keep talking about your love for Wushuang every day. Wanting her to have a good life isn't just about you going to Las Vegas and confronting that man a few times; it's not going to make him return Wushuang to you... it's impossible!"
"Being so impulsive will only make things harder for Wushuang and make her more upset. Why can't you think about everyone's position right now? Analyze the situation properly. Kogura has escaped; who knows if he'll come after us? Why don't you think about these things carefully? Why add so many worries for Wushuang? The wedding date is still over half a month away. Why don't you calmly consider how to bring Wushuang back to your side?" Misa spoke in a rush, hoping he could understand her point.
Being blindly reckless would lead nowhere; didn't he understand that? His presence only brought pain to Wushuang. Unless Rafas died, they would never be together in this lifetime!
Long Yi stared blankly at Misa after her long speech, saying nothing as he turned and walked back to his study. Misa watched his back, hoping he would understand.
She didn't ask to stay by his side forever; at least at this critical moment, she needed him. Even just his silhouette would suffice; she needed him!
Las Vegas.
Since that day, Rafas had been calm for a few days and hadn't approached her. The beautiful wedding dress was quietly placed in the bedroom as per his request. Wushuang looked at the beautiful dress but couldn't feel happy at all.
Why was her marriage partner not the person she dreamed of but rather the man she hated most in this life? Why was it like this? No matter how beautiful the dress was, it didn't matter because beneath that beautiful exterior, everything that once supported her—body and soul—had long since drifted away in search of where she truly belonged.
Ieyako gently pushed the door open and walked in. She saw Wushuang standing motionless in front of the wedding dress with a dazed expression as if lost in thought; she didn't even notice Ieyako's entrance.
"Wushuang, what are you thinking so deeply about?" Ieyako asked softly from behind her, trying to surprise her.
"Ah... Yeko! Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Wushuang was indeed startled by the sudden voice; thankfully, it was Yeko and not that man.
Yeko chuckled and pulled her over to sit on the bed, carefully examining her beautiful face. It seemed she had regained some color; her face looked much healthier now—Brother Shouya must have helped.
"I just came out with Brother Shouya on a whim. You were so focused that you didn't even notice me walking in! I really wonder what you're thinking about," Yeko asked casually, though she already knew what was on Wushuang's mind.
Wushuang sighed. The closer the wedding day approached, the more nervous and fearful she became. She was afraid of that man and couldn't imagine spending her entire life with him; she felt he would drive her insane.
Seeing her just sighing and not speaking, Yezi took her hand and pulled her downstairs. She didn't come over for nothing today; she had brought a gift for her.
"Where are you taking me, Yezi?" Wushuang asked, but Yezi continued to pull her down without answering. What was she planning to do?
"I'm giving you something, hurry up!" The two of them hurried down the stairs. Just as they entered the living room, a maid came out holding a small rabbit that looked exactly like Snowball.
"I know you were upset about losing Snowball, so I asked Sharl to pick a lively little white rabbit when he went out. He brought one back every day, but I felt they weren't lively enough, so I went with him to choose one myself. As soon as I walked into the store, this one caught my eye. Do you like it?" Yezi said as she took the little rabbit from the maid's arms. It was indeed as cute as Snowball.
Looking at its chubby and adorable appearance, which was almost identical to Snowball, Wushuang couldn't help but hold it close, finally breaking into a smile after days of gloom.
"Thank you, Yezi! I really like it. This time, I won't let anyone hurt it!" She held it tightly in her arms, afraid of accidentally hurting it.
Seeing her smile, Yezi felt relieved. As long as Wushuang's mood improved, that was what mattered most. Just then, Rafas walked into the living room and saw them playing with the rabbit and the rare smile on Yan Wushuang's face. Could a rabbit really be that important?
"Master, you're back!" The old butler bowed respectfully to him. Yan Wushuang heard the butler's words and immediately turned to look at him, but the smile on her face suddenly vanished in an instant.
Rafas approached her steadily. Yezi watched the man walk over and felt the atmosphere around them shift towards them. She nudged Wushuang to bring her back to reality.
"Is this what you brought?" Rafas asked, looking at the rabbit in Wushuang's arms and glancing at Yezi beside her.
"Yes, I know Wushuang likes rabbits, so I brought one to cheer her up!" She mustered her courage; even though Sharl wasn't around, she believed he wouldn't make things difficult for her.
Hearing his words, Wushuang thought he might want to do something to Yezi and quickly pulled Yezi behind her, looking up into his dark eyes and saying, "Don't blame Yezi; she's only trying to help me!"
"Hahaha... Darling, when did I say I wanted to do anything to her? Besides, she's Sharl's woman; whatever happens to her is up to Sharl. But I see you really like this little thing. Since your Snowball is gone now, you can use it as a replacement!" Rafas reached out to stroke her cheek; if they weren't in the hall, he would have kissed her thoroughly.
Yezi let out a big sigh of relief behind her. She always felt some fear facing this man and wondered what it would be like for Wushuang to be with him day and night.
Noticing that Yezi was still hiding behind Wushuang, Rafas pulled Yan Wushuang into his embrace and said, "Hey, does this little rabbit want to make a nest in my castle? As far as I know, I just finished discussing matters with Sharl, and he should have returned to base by now. Did you come out without his permission?"
"What? What did you say? He has already gone back? This is bad!" Hearing this, Yezi's eyes widened in shock. She hadn't informed Faisal about coming out at all; she thought she could just drop off the rabbit for Wushuang and hurry back.
"Wushuang, what's wrong? You didn't tell Sharl you were coming out?" Seeing Yezi's anxious expression with furrowed brows, Wushuang realized she must have sneaked out.
"I'm not saying anything more, I have to hurry back, or he'll get angry. I just dislike having to tell him everything, so... sigh, take good care of Snowball for me, I'm leaving!" She grabbed her bag and rushed out.
Rafas simply smiled lightly; she was indeed a silly girl. It seemed that it was perfect for the two of them to become good sisters.
He turned and pulled her into his embrace, wrapping his arms around her slender waist, then went upstairs back to the bedroom. Wushuang was still holding the Snowball that Yezi mentioned, and upon closer inspection, it was indeed smaller than Snowball. In her mind, she unconsciously regarded it as Snowball's child.
"Baby, why is your rabbit even cuter than I am?" He tilted her chin up, a slight smile playing on his lips as he left his mark on her delicate mouth.
Wushuang seemed to be afraid he would harm Snowball again; she got up and moved away from him, placing Snowball in its little nest outside the door before slowly walking back to stand in front of him.
Rafas had long seen through her thoughts; it was just that she was afraid he would do something to that creature. He wasn't the kind of person who would stoop to such low actions. He pulled her arm, causing her to fall into his embrace completely, lowering his head to meet her slightly flustered watery eyes. Their gazes locked, filling the entire bedroom with an unusual atmosphere.
Wushuang looked into his dark eyes and seemed to see many past events reflected there: his affection for her, his possessiveness, and that time at the amusement park when he risked his life to protect her in his arms. Every night, his caresses replayed vividly in her mind.
"Baby, what are you looking at so intently?" Rafas's voice suddenly broke the scene she was envisioning.
When her rationality returned to reality, what met her gaze was his cold Silver Mask and countless painful memories!
"I'm not looking at anything; just thinking about some things," she replied lightly, as if nothing had ever happened.
Rafas held her close, observing her calm face. She must have been thinking about something earlier—something related to him.
