"I haven't slept yet. I just came back from Yezi's room, and as soon as I walked in, I heard the phone ringing." Yan Wushuang sat on the edge of the bed, listening carefully to what he was saying.
"What? You haven't slept? It's so late; you shouldn't chat anymore. Hurry up and get some rest. I should be back tomorrow, and by the time you wake up tomorrow night, I'll already be back by your side!" He smiled contentedly, never knowing that missing someone could feel so bittersweet.
"Really? So does that mean Sharl is fine too? Are you both coming back together?" He had only gone to England this morning; could it really be that Sharl would return safely in just one day?
Wushuang was a bit surprised, but upon reflection, with his power and wealth, what could he not accomplish?
"What? Is Sharl the only person you're thinking about? It seems like Sharl is your good friend's man. Are you sure you're not mistaken about your feelings?" Rafas looked out the window with some displeasure, his tone completely different from before.
Wushuang was taken aback; it seemed she had misspoken again. She hurried to explain, "It's not like that. Don't misunderstand. I have nothing with Sharl; I was just paying special attention to his situation because Yezi looked so worried. I miss you too, really, I miss you..."
Rafas furrowed his brow. He knew she wasn't really thinking about him, but hearing her say that still made him feel better; at least she knew to give him some attention.
"Alright, no need to explain anything. If you had any inappropriate relationship with Sharl, do you think you'd still have the right to marry me or negotiate terms with me? It's getting late; go to sleep!" Rafas said decisively and hung up the phone.
Wushuang still held the phone to her ear, but all she heard was a busy signal. Although she didn't say anything out loud, Wushuang knew he must be overthinking things again.
No matter what, as long as Sharl returned safely, that was all that mattered. Now Yezi could finally smile happily again; seeing her frown had brought Wushuang's mood down as well.
Time passed slowly. After a night had gone by, a new day dawned. It seemed that everything was under Rafas's control. Early in the morning, he received a secret phone call, and an hour later, Faisal was released without charge by the British police!
In the police station, Rafas had already sent a lawyer to handle the procedures in advance. From start to finish, he was confident; although the situation was tricky, as long as he was willing to step in and offer something, there was no problem he couldn't solve.
In the detention center, Faisal had been held by the British police for over fifty hours. The predicted release time of seventy-two hours was still more than ten hours away.
The police opened the iron door and announced his release without charge. For Smith Will, who had been detained alongside him in the same facility, this was undoubtedly the worst news. Why could Faisal go free while he—an important witness—could not? Why... why... His daughter was still a princess; why wasn't he released? After all, he was considered part of the Royal Family; why were they treating him this way?
"Unfair..." he shouted angrily. As Faisal walked past him with a swagger, he deliberately paused in front of him and smirked slightly while saying, "This world is inherently unfair!"
Smith Will watched Faisal strut past him and felt furious as he gasped for breath, shouting for someone in charge of this place. He couldn't believe that with his influence in England, he would be restrained by such a small detention center!
After just signing a confidentiality agreement with the Prime Minister, Rafas hurried back to the hotel. Faisal was already waiting for him in the presidential suite, accompanied by a lawyer, looking unharmed. As soon as they met, they embraced like old friends who hadn't seen each other in years.
"You look well; it seems the treatment inside was quite good! If it weren't for your little bunny begging me to bring you back quickly, I would have let you stay a few more days, just to give you a little vacation," Rafas said leisurely as he settled onto the sofa and lit a cigar.
"If you think that's good, next time it will be your turn to spend a few days inside while I take care of your Canary. I guarantee your Canary won't fly away!" They teased each other, both wearing a smirk that conveyed camaraderie and reassurance.
Rafas took a puff of his cigar, holding it between his fingers, and leaned closer to Faisal. "So, what do you think? Who has the audacity to go against us?"
After a moment of silence, Faisal replied, "I can't think of anyone suitable at the moment. However, if we are to suspect someone based on the current situation, Yamamoto Ryuichi and Kogura are the most likely suspects."
Rafas nodded in agreement; he had been thinking the same. He had people secretly monitoring Yamamoto Ryuichi since his reappearance. His every move was almost under Rafas's control. He knew Yamamoto would be present at the wedding banquet; that was something he had anticipated. However, he chose not to intervene because he wanted Yan Wushuang to make the final decision.
As for Kogura, ever since being arrested by the Italian Police, his territory and influence had been divided among his subordinates and rivals. Although he still had loyal followers, he was now a wanted man. The moment he showed his face, police from any country would unite to arrest him. Instinct told Rafas that Kogura was likely behind the poisoning incident at the wedding banquet, but this recent incident in England probably wasn't his doing.
"Forget it. Now that you're safely back, let's leave here first. Once we're back, we'll send people to investigate thoroughly. As for Smith Will, let him say whatever he wants; it won't matter!" Rafas had already arranged for a helicopter; they were set to head back to Las Vegas immediately.
Smith Annie glared at him defiantly. This bastard had actually kept her under house arrest! She had always helped him, yet now that her father was in trouble, he not only refused to offer her advice but also confined her in Las Vegas without letting her leave—how infuriating!
"Darling, please don't look at me like that. Don't you want revenge on that woman? Right now, Rafas is conveniently not in Las Vegas, and Shouya is too busy to take care of her. This is our best opportunity! Once I kidnap that woman, we can leave together. What do you think?" Kogura gazed at Annie's beautiful face while envisioning another even more stunning visage.
"How long do you expect me to wait? My father has been detained by the British police! Even my sister, the princess, can't rescue him! I need to return to England immediately. You better hurry up; if my father's situation is delayed any longer, I'll tear off all pretenses! I can't hold back anymore!" Annie glared at him angrily. She realized she had been too naive to trust this man so easily.
Kogura leaned in and kissed her red lips ambiguously, whispering with a wicked smile, "Don't worry; you prepare first. We will definitely leave here today."
Annie looked into his eyes and wondered what schemes he was concocting this time.
In the castle, Wushuang sat by the lake with Yezi, gazing at the vast sky. Yezi's heart was constantly worried about Sharl; it felt like an eternity had passed since they last saw each other just two days ago...
"Yezi, don't worry. Lefas promised he would bring Sharl back today. There's a time difference between England and here; maybe they've already met by now. Don't be upset; smile for me!" Wushuang comforted her sincerely, hoping she could find happiness again.
Ye Zi looked at Wushuang beside her, feeling grateful to have met her. If it weren't for Wushuang, her life would have been over. Nodding to herself, she vowed to be strong!
Kogura had pinpointed this final opportunity. He had long since sent people to lie in wait outside the castle, familiar with the vehicles coming in and out. It seemed he intended to abduct Yan Wushuang through the back door. Smith Annie had also informed him that there were designated individuals who delivered food and supplies to the castle daily. Wasn't that how she had taken Yan Wushuang away last time?
This method was indeed feasible; no matter what, he had to act decisively today!
In the afternoon, the delivery truck arrived at the back door of the castle as usual. Several workers helped carry today's goods inside. The kitchen was not far from the back garden, and two people sat quietly nearby, completely unaware that danger was approaching them…
"Um…" A shoe lay quietly by the lake, but where were the two people who had been sitting there just moments ago? They had vanished without a trace.
Mike stepped out onto the balcony and looked toward the garden. Where did everyone go? His eyelids began to twitch nervously, an instinct telling him that something must have happened.
Rafas and Faisal were already on their way back in a helicopter. Just after leaving British airspace, they received an urgent call from Mike: "Master, something has happened at the castle. Madam and Miss Ye Zi have been kidnapped!"
"What… how could this happen? How did you protect them?" Rafas was furious, his veins bulging as he stood up abruptly.
"I'm sorry, Master. It was my negligence that allowed Kogura's people to infiltrate. Our men have already confronted them directly, but they still managed to escape!" As soon as Mike sensed something was wrong, he immediately called for the monitoring room to check the surveillance near the garden. However, after several calls, no one responded. Just then, gunfire erupted from within the castle.
The five men disguised as delivery personnel entered the castle and split up. Annie had informed them that there were cameras installed everywhere in the castle, so they needed to take control of the monitoring room to proceed with their plans without being detected.
At that moment in the afternoon, there was only one person in the monitoring room. They easily turned off all the surveillance cameras and spotted their target on screen. Quietly approaching her, they prepared to knock her out and take her away. But at the last moment, a bodyguard in black noticed them and shot one of the men dead on the spot.
