Wushuang was tightly held in his embrace. In the bustling lobby, he showed no concern for the gazes of others, boldly holding her in front of everyone. It seemed that tomorrow's headlines would once again belong to them as a couple!
Yan Wushuang silently buried her face in his chest. After some thought, she realized that by running out like this, she was only giving that woman an advantage.
Gently pushing away from his embrace, she raised her slightly swollen eyes to look at him and asked seriously, "Did you really have a relationship with her?"
"Yes, but that was a long time ago. She just said it was last year; I don't even remember this woman!" He explained honestly, with no intention of deceiving her.
Their every move had already been captured by reporters lurking nearby. Although they were too far away to hear what they were arguing about, it was clear that they were indeed having a fight.
At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and Shirley stepped out, covering her swollen cheek with a hand. She had thought Rafas had already left, but to her surprise, they were still there. Upon seeing Rafas, a look of fear immediately crossed her face.
Not daring to act recklessly in front of them, Shirley deliberately walked around them and quickly disappeared into the Hartland Building. However, this subtle action did not escape the keen eyes of the reporters. Seeing Shirley desperately covering her cheek and her panicked expression made it clear that something had happened.
As reporters accustomed to gossip, they recognized the situation: it was definitely a scene of a mistress being rejected. Rafas, who used to be a notorious playboy, was now putting on the facade of a good man in public...
Wushuang watched as Shirley walked past them and intentionally observed the man's expression in front of her. It seemed his gaze remained fixed on her, completely ignoring Shirley as she left.
"I’m full now, but I don’t want to go shopping. I want to go back and look at the stars," Wushuang said, feeling that her mood had been completely ruined. It was rare for him to take the initiative to accompany her out, yet she couldn't feel happy at all.
"Alright, let's go back. I'll accompany you to the garden to watch the stars." Rafas wrapped his arm around her waist like a perfect husband, obediently agreeing to her wishes. Not only would he accompany her to see the stars; if she wanted the stars from the sky, he would find a way to bring them to her.
Silently getting into the car, Wushuang turned her face away to avoid his gaze. Saying she didn't mind at all was a lie; such matters would always leave some knots in any woman's heart.
Rafas looked at her slightly melancholic face with concern. He placed his large hand over hers and held it tightly. In the past, these women were merely physical needs for him; he remembered that one time he went to discuss matters with her grandfather. Because their conversation ran late and a sudden storm broke out outside, Count Roxburgh kindly invited him to stay over. That night, Shirley boldly knocked on his door. He had always welcomed such women but never bothered to remember who they were.
Wushuang quietly gazed out the window, her mind wandering without a clear thought. In response to Rafas's proposal for peace, she seemed somewhat taken aback.
The car drove through bustling streets, and as it turned into a less populated alley, the cold, towering gates of the castle loomed ahead, slowly opening to welcome the master and mistress back.
After getting out of the car in silence, she went upstairs and held her Snowball in her arms, gently stroking its soft white fur. "Snowball, can you tell me why I can't feel any happiness in my heart?"
"Because you believe that my relationship with that woman is ambiguous, because you care about me, because you love me..." Rafas followed her upstairs and happened to overhear her words.
Wushuang picked up Snowball, looked at him, lowered her head, and turned to walk into the bedroom.
Rafas took her to the top floor of the castle, a place Yan Wushuang had never been before. It turned out to be where the helicopter was stored; no wonder it always arrived so quickly at the castle—it had been hiding here all along.
The top floor featured an open-roof design. Whenever a helicopter was needed, the roof would slowly open to provide ample space for takeoff and landing in a clearing in the backyard.
To let her see more beautiful stars, Rafas brought her to the top floor, opened the roof completely, and even prepared a telescope for her to feel as if she were right there among the stars.
"Baby, do you like this place? Watching stars here is much more beautiful than on the ground," Rafas said as he took her hand and led her to the telescope.
Yan Wushuang looked at the tube in front of her, unsure of its purpose. Curiously pointing at it, she asked, "What is this? It looks so strange."
"Hahaha... I thought you understood everything by now; it seems there are still things you don't know!" He stepped closer and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder while tightly holding her. He thoroughly enjoyed having her in his embrace.
Yan Wushuang lowered her head, feeling a bit wronged...
Rafas pressed a deep kiss on her cheek and softly explained, "This is called a telescope, specially prepared for you. With it, you can see the stars in the sky more clearly."
"Really?" Yan Wushuang asked, still somewhat skeptical.
"Of course. When have I ever lied to you? If you don't believe me, give it a try," Rafas said with a slight smile, inhaling her scent and wishing he could keep her by his side forever.
Yan Wushuang nodded and, with Rafas's help, carefully observed the countless stars in the night sky through the telescope. The endless black night seemed to stretch on forever, while the twinkling stars showcased their charm, illuminating the dark sky and making it exceptionally beautiful.
Rafas continued to hold her from behind, watching the rare smile on her face, feeling a sense of peace in his heart. Seeing her previously gloomy expression had troubled him greatly. If he encountered that woman again next time, he would not care about anyone else's feelings!
"Sweetheart, do you like it?" His gentle voice brought Wushuang back from the beautiful night sky to reality.
"Oh, I'm fine. I really like it! I didn't expect to see the stars so clearly and brightly through this telescope," Wushuang said, momentarily forgetting her unhappy thoughts as she was captivated by the stunning view before her.
Rafas tightened his embrace; as long as she was happy, he would do anything for her at any cost!
Under the starry night sky, a couple held each other closely. The man smiled as he embraced the woman in front of him, while she blushed lightly with a shy smile. In that moment, it felt as if only they existed in the world, and no one could intrude upon their paradise.
Rafas pressed his cheek against Wushuang's soft face. He knew that what happened tonight had upset her, so he prepared all of this in hopes that she would forgive his past actions because of his sincerity.
"Sweetheart, I'm sorry. Can you please not be angry anymore?" He whispered another apology into her ear.
Yan Wushuang was fully focused on the world before her but was reminded of tonight's unpleasantness by his words.
"I am not angry. Everyone has a past; you have one, and so do I. My past is General Longze." She could not fully let go of Long Ze, even during her amnesia, she would still sketch his image in her mind.
Long Ze... This name also made Rafas feel extremely displeased. Thinking back to the past, every time she was at her most forgetful, the name she called out would always be his. Therefore, he hated it; he loathed this name and even more so its owner!
Hearing no reaction from him behind her, Yan Wushuang put down the telescope in her hand and turned to face him. Their eyes met, and Rafas remained silent for a long time...
"How many women have you actually been with?" Unintentionally, Yan Wushuang suddenly wanted to know the answer to this question.
However, her question indeed caught Rafas off guard. The corners of his mouth twitched slightly, and after a moment of silence, he slowly replied to her question: "Baby, I really can't give you an accurate answer because even I don't know what the correct number is."
After giving him a glare, Yan Wushuang asked again, "Then if you add your fingers and toes together, is that enough?"
"Well... to be precise, it should be far from enough..." Rafas looked at her pale little face awkwardly. He was being honest with her because he didn't want to lie.
Yan Wushuang had already guessed this answer; she just wanted to hear him say it himself. A man like him without a bunch of women would truly be strange.
"Baby, I promise you that since I brought you back from the club, aside from you, I've only been with Smith Annie. At that time, I was negotiating a project with her father, so I had to marry her. That's why there was physical contact between us. But once the project was settled with her father, I stopped seeing her. You should know that during that time, I came back to accompany you every night; I absolutely wasn't lying!" Rafas made his final explanation, hoping she could understand him.
Wushuang recalled that period when she had just arrived in this world and knew nothing about it. After he bought her back from the club, she had been imprisoned in this European-style castle. During that time, the outside world and news were spreading about his marriage to Miss Smith. It was also during that time that he rarely returned home, giving her a chance to breathe. However, on the day of his wedding when she tried to escape and was caught back by him, it seemed like he had been by her side every night afterward.
Looking at his serious face, Yan Wushuang reached out and removed the mask from his face. The deep scar etched into his cheek made his originally profound face appear even more intimidating. How did he get this scar? He had never told her.
